  1. Why cant there be accommodations for both? I would think there could be equal arguments for both sides
  2. Is there a good reason why the pocket query attributes are taken as AND conditions and not an OR condition? Logically, I would think if you were searching for something via an attribute, it would make sense to use an OR, ie, Im looking for something to drive a Jeep to, so that should be Jeep OR snowmobile OR ATV. With all three of those attributes selected, it will only return the ones that have them all.

    Pittsburg NH

Im looking to go to Pittsburg NH next year for some caches and hopefully camping as well. Does anyone know the rules for dispersed camping in the area? Can I camp anywhere or does it have to be in a designated campground? Would like to find a nice location and set up shop for no more than 2-3 nights.

    Search limits

Whats up with a minimum of FIVE characters in a search? A lot of models have 4 characters in their names and its impossible to search through the forums for it For instance, Im looking for info on a nuvi 700 series Search for NUVI - nope 4 characters 755t - no dice, still 4 NUVI 755t? thats 8 if I count correctly, but both still have 4 and the search fails I cant be the only one who has had a problem with this
  5. yes I do, however I was looking to use my Delorme map program (which may or may not work on Vista; I havent tried that yet either) for some more detailed routing than the screen on the GPS can provide. Ill give it a go tonight and report back
  6. hmmz. thats unfortunate I have to dig up my Delorme Topo disks which I use(d) for navigation on my old laptop and it worked great. If I can get that to install Im just going to try and find a USB-Serial adapter and have a go at it. I need it for this weekend so I dont want to go out and buy more stuff that I dont necessarily need. If I cant get it to work, sucks to be me
  7. I just got a new laptop and Im going through everything trying to get it up and running on this worthless OS. Has anyone tried to install a USB->Serial adapter to connect their old Meridian (I have a Gold) and get it working? Im going on a trip from MA->DC this weekend and want to get my GPS working for navigation.
  8. Im heading to Aruba next week and we are renting a Wrangler to drive around. Has anyone been to the Natural Bridge or the Natural Pool and willing to share some waypoints for these locals?
  9. Ive taken my GPS on several flights with no issues. American once and United(???) the other. If you have a window seat, you can usually get a sat lock. Its cool to see where you are and see it reading 400mph @36,000 ft It only works on a window seat, I also tried to get a lock in a middle seat, but no dice
  10. Im looking to upgrade my GPS and would like to hand me down my trusty Magellan. Its in terrific shape and works like a champ. I can load it up with your local street maps and supply the serial data cable with it as well. I would like to get maybe around $100 for it. email me! Thanks
  11. Well. It looks like my answer is two fold: http://groups.google.com/group/earth-plus/...3b5b43a3d5f147e #1 I need Google Earth Pro for $20 but #2 it doesnt work on Linux So I guess Im SOL
  12. I havent used Google Earth with the pocket query files (.gpx) in quite some time, so Im not sure if anything has changed, but: I installed it today on my Linux box and, if I remember correctly, I tried to just drag the .gpx file into GE and it tells me "file type not supported". Is there an additional plugin that I need? Im not talking about tke KML plugin (I am getting the "Exceeded number of views" with that too), but I thought you could just drag the .gpx files right into the app and it works. Should it?
  13. I bought Delorme Topo v5 when it came out a few years ago and what a great program. Since then, my hard drive crashed and I also lost the install DVDs so it looks like its time to upgrade. Now the question: When I bought it a way back when, Delorme posted a Geocaching specific 40% off code, are they doing anything like that this time around?
  14. Are there any other database/PQ management tools other than GSAK? Preferably free?
  15. does the shock of bouncing off ruts and rocks on a trail have any adverse effects on a hard mounted GPS like these? i usually keep mine on the bungee cords on my hydropack, but its a PITA to stop every once in a while, remove the pack and see where i am. i wanted to get a bar/tube mount, but was worried about the shock protection
  16. I have a new question and if it has been asked before, please direct me to the answer. I searched and was not able to find anything Is there as way to have GSAK use Mozilla/Firefox rather than IE as the browser?

    How Many Logs?

either way :/ I was hoping to run a query once a month or so rather than once or twice a week to get the recent queries. I have a couple of terms that I am searching for so I can get a handle on a few different areas. Its going to take me longer with fewer returned logs, but I guess I can make it work out

    How Many Logs?

    Crud, thats unfortunate

    How Many Logs?

If I run a pocket query for all logs within some distance of some point, can I have it return all the logs of the caches or is it just limited to the first five?

    Search Of Hints?

ok, thats another reason to go premimum. thanks

    Search Of Hints?

Is there an easier way to search for a keyword inside of a cache's hints rather than opening each and just scanning through them? Say I want to look for some term "water" in all caches close to a ZIP. Is there any good way to do it rather than opening each and then doing the CTRL+F thing?
  22. That would be lovely for this situation as well as poison ivy in the area for those who are allergic to the stuff (ME) and other applications as well
  23. Im not sure what these icons are called, but is it at all possible to search caches by the icons that notify of things like "kid friendly" or pet friendly or speficically 4wd allowed I know not all caches have these pics, but it may be handy to have these as a search query. I am looking for 4wd friendly caches in the area and its a pain to look through them ALL then look them up on a map and decide where to go from there
  24. There is (or should I say was) some offroading allowed in the ADKs, but they either put an end to it are about to. ok, thanks for the info folks. ill have to think about somewhere else then
  25. does such a beast exist? I want to find something that I can take my Grand Cherokee to with some dirt/rocks/mud involved. Would prefer the eastern side of the park, somewhere from Glenns Falls over to Lake Placid or so. It will be a two truck convoy, my ZJ and a buddy who is getting a Cherokee. He wants to get into both so why not combine the two
