  1. I dont have any fancy 4-wheelin' capable rides... Just this 'ol Beretta I take to Cache in style. Any excuse to post a picture of my car!
  2. I tend to not care too much about the mugglers. Do I blatantly just let them see me doing my thing? NO. But, say there is a Cache on the side of the road. I'm not going to sit there and wait for traffic to die out, nor will I wait and come back at night if the Cache is on my way somewhere. I am there and I'm going to get it! I was going to start a topic along thse lines... "Just how much do you fear Mugglers" or something within that respect. I have only once had someone "bust" me and ask what I was doing. And honeslty, I was looking for like my 4th or 5th Cache and didn't even know the term Muggler at that point. I gladly explained to him exactly what I was doing... Whoops. Now if I were approached with that scenario, well one, I dont think I would let it get to that point again and two... if it did, I would have some great excuse like "lost my keys" or "my son threw something out the window here". I do really like the orange vest idea... I just might need to borrow that one.
  3. The first two, and only two Caches I have hidden are LPCs. I figured Iwould keep it simple for my first hides and make sure I was doing right and such. Besides... some of the first finds I had as a newb Geocacher were LPCs and it's nice to get some confidence as well as some experience from those easy hides.
  4. I just found the most clever Cache of my GeoCaching experiences yet the other day. It was a PVC pipe mounted to a telephone pole. I pulled off the cap and looked inside and saw nothing buy some chopped up wiring and said to myself, well... that's not it. But then I noticed a small, excess piece of metal at the bottom of the piping. I gave it a tug and it pulled a string out of the pipe. Something didn't add up so I gave the string a good tug and POP! The top of the piping came off and the "wiring" was indeed the Cache! It was a medium sized twist open/closed container with some old pieces of wiring glued to the top of it. Very clever!
  5. 1,350 miles away... pales in comparrison to many of you. I live in Colorado but am from Oregon. I have had to make many trips to Oregon recently for deaths in the family. And although that might not be the best reason to travel, it does open up the opportunity for some long distance Caching!
  6. Styluss = An old nickname I gave myself in high school. Then it just so happened I wanted to eb a DJ for a bit and if you do not know, the needle on a turntable is called a Styluss. That worked out well, but my DJing skills did not. Now, it's simply a nickname I use on forums and such.
  7. I have only ever hidden two Caches, but I tend to have a crative name hit me upside the head and go with that. I stashed one next to a Discount Tire and called it "Cache Discount". The first hide I ever did was based around a small container I had that looked like an old, original Nintendo controller. I called it "Old School Gaming" and stuck it in the parking lot of an arcade.
  8. I too am always looking at Cache locatitons for Cachers as I drive by them. I have yet to see anyone, but if I do I think I'll just scream "Muggled!" out the window.
  9. I just checked up on my first hide today and I was very surprised to see many more finder's logs in the log book than the cache has online. I guess it makes some sense...
  10. I dont believe we should reclassify these into their own catagory. I think a traditional cache is a cache no matter how you look at it. And the sizes are clearly listed on the Cache's description page. Perhaps we could add a filter for the premium mebers that filters out the micros and or nanos? As for the point of kids not liking micros or nanos... well, again the cache size is listed in the Cache's description. And furthermore, I would think any Cache owner would know better than to add a "kid friendly" attribute to their mirco or nano, unless the surrounding area warranted it.
  11. That's not my Mom... That's Wierd Al!! Sorry, had to.
  12. So, what you are saying is that the map should snap to my home location? Because it never has in my few months of Geocaching...
  13. Wow... we have gotten rather into this one huh? Anaylizing the photo, speculating the true intent of the auctioneer... Did anyone stop to think he might actually be trying to get it back to the owner?? Did anyone try to search for a member named "The Cheeseheads"?? I was actually very excited to watch this auction and see how it all panned out. I was very curious as to the container's contents as well. It all does seem a bit fishy... Were there TBs in it? Would this guy have known what they are if there were?? I do think we may have gone overboard reporting it stolen. I mena, has there been a documented rash of people stealing caches to make a quick buck? I dont see this turning into a phenomenon. Besides, if he was not lying, he did try locally for two weeks to get it back to the owners... Something like this is way too open to personal criticism. he thinks it was stolen, she thinks he is trying to do right... Who is right?? We will now never know. EDIT: There is a member by the name of "The Cheeseheads". I have contacted them and asked them to shed some light on this for us...
  14. We've got our logo!!! Now...let's do this!
  15. So, why is it when I use the Google Seach engine to find Geocaches, it always pops up that same spot in Seattle? Is that where it all started or something??
  16. I have a big interest in the TB sticker for my car. I'll be getting one soon and hope to have someone spot me@!! I spotted one of the TB stickers on a truck in Montana last November, but back then I was a total noob and didn't know to write down the number and log it!
  17. So... I got my sister into Geocaching recently as we had to make numerous driving tirps to Oregon for family business. Well, since then she has fallen in love with it! I mean, who doesn't? BUT... she does not have a GPS. HOWEVER, she has been able to find over 50 Geocaches reagrdless. I think she is crazy! Her Geo-sense muct be off the charts! I mean, she does spend some significant time at some of the hides, but she ends up finding them! I cant belive it. Anyone else have any such stories? Oh, her profile is MtnFireDancer if you wish to check in on her progress.
  18. Hooray for happy news! I'm new to this Geocoin stuff, but that Columbine Coin is just beautiful!
  19. Excellent! We are still in the "building" phases of the crew, but we appreciate your interest! I will keep you guys posted via this thread. I am in Lakewood, but people from any and ALL parts of Colorado are welcome to join us! This is simply for fun. We will try to have some GTG's (get togethers) and some activities for us all as we grow, but for now, you're welcome to call yourselves a part of the CGC! I like to write it in my Cache logs: Date, Styluss W/CGC! I am new to all of this as well and I am simply trying to gether some interest in a fun "crew" of Geocachers in the area. Lets see how many finds we can knab!
  20. I'm Colorado's newest member! So... let's chat huh? EDIT: I dont have to have a Jeep to be a part of the family, right?
  21. Hello all! My name is Styluss and I am starting a new Geocaching club/group here in the Denver area. All of my research has led me to believe that there is no club/group in this area... so, let's get one going! I am well aware that we have the Geocaging Colorado website, but it is more a website/forum than it is a club/group/team.I would like to start something fun for the local Geocachers to enjoy. Perhaps we could develop teams across the state, "competing" for the most finds... you know, just something fun! My sister is a Graphic Designer as well as a Geocacher. She is working on a logo for us as we speak. I am very excited to get this going as I would love to help organize some of the local area Geocahers. We will be organizing Geocaching events such as picnics, BBQ's, CITO's, group caching events, general get-togethers and more! Please, if I am stepping on anyone's toes, or there is already a large group in this area please let me know. If you have any interest in being a part of the crew... let me know! Styluss - Colorado Geocaching Crew - The CGC
  22. I am in the process of creating a Geocaching Club for Colorado. We will be the Colorado Geocaching Crew, or the CGC. If anyone has an interest in joining, or ideas for the group, please contact me!
