  1. Today my coin was returned. It was from an Ebayer in New York. I do not know how they got the coin. I do know they were attempting to sell it. I do not know if they knew before putting it on Ebay that it was not their's to sell. I do know from their email to me that they had been a geocacher two years ago. I am glad that my coin is back with me and I do know that this one will not go out again unless it is a proxy. I also know that I will probably not be the last person to find their coin being sold on Ebay for any reason. Thanks to everyone that gave me advice on this issue.
  2. Wow so sad.. Years ago I purchased a coin on Ebay and I put it in a cache as a FTF prize. Needless to say the person who was the First to finder contacted me and said the coin had been missing for 3 years and belonged to someone else. I felt so bad, they sent the coin on its way and I dug into my collection and offered them a coin of their choice. I hope I get lucky and this person and they will do the right thing and return it to me. I put this coin out for my brother who left this world many years ago so it has that sentimental value to me. But the other thing that bothers me is to see it being sold. VonJoeKasey
  3. Here is my update on this situation I got an email from the person and they said they mailed it to me. I have not yet received my coin. They have since re-listed their sale minus the coins that seem to have been purchased from the garage sale. I am hoping that they really do the right thing with this situation. Thanks for all the advice. VonJoeKasey
  4. As of right now they have removed the sale and say they will send me my coin if I give them my address so that they can ship it back to me if I pay for the cost of shipping. I am not happy about this part but the coin has sentimental value to me. They are claiming they got all of the coins & TBS plus the GPS from a garage sale. Though they also said they use to be a cacher, at this point I would just like to get my coin back. The interesting thing is I got another email saying they lost out of having to end the sale because someone had bid on it. I didn't respond to it but I was thing "hmmm stolen coins!!!, loss of a bid!!!, which would you want to have to deal with?" Thanks to everyone who has responded to my situation and I will keep posting as things progress. VonJoeKasey
  5. I tried reporting it and on Ebay it says only police are able to report something as stolen. I did get a reply from the person selling the items and I am hoping that they will do the right thing. They said they bought the items from a garage sale. Fingers crossed this will all work out.
  6. Yes it is activated that's how I found out the cacher discovered it via ebay and when I looked it's in the picture with the code number showing. Is the geocoin activated where you can show proof of ownership?
  7. Hi I just received a email about one of my coins. It was discovered on Ebay. I went to the site that the cacher left a link to and it was there. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I did send an email to the person selling it on Ebay today, stating that it was my coin and I was not giving them consent to sell it. I also asked them to contact me so that I could get my coin back. Has anyone on here had this problem? What did you do? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks VonJoeKasey
  8. the Montana is the best as others have stated it is bulky but to get the best view it is great. Reading the map view is great especially if you are the one navigating while your partner is driving.I love the bigger screen compared to my Oregon 550.
  9. Sorry for the delay it is still for sale. I have sent you a PM...
  10. Ps: the other nice thing to it is the fact the if you click on the notes on the calender for the day it will take you to the info...such as each cache marked found, track, DNF cache etc... which is a nice feature. You don't have to go back to the geocaching option to pull up your info. I guess I would consider this a short-cut to your search.

  12. Thanks for the info I just got rid of my visit file and yes they did disappear off the calender, but I always copy mine into a Micro Soft Word, just in case I need it for future reference etc... Though I did notice that the way-points I marked for the days I cached and the tracks remain on the calender. I'm guessing if I removed them from the GPS they would disappear as well. I do like that while out in the field you can go to the calender and see how many finds / DNFs you did for the day quickly, as long as you mark them as you go. Nice feature. We were on a series run and this really made it simple to keep track of where we were in the series, as we knew how many caches existed to complete it. So each time I checked I could see 25,55,90 found etc....till we were done for the day.
  13. Hi I just got my Montana about two weeks ago and I'm still learning all that it can do. I did a power run of 197 caches this weekend. I noticed that when you go to the calender it shows all the caches that I found each day and give me total find/DNF. My question is when I remove the PQ that these caches were from will it remove the info off my calender?
  14. Tried out my Montana 650 on a long cache run this weekend. Charged the battery the night before, used it the whole day 10:00 Am- 9:30 PM and I had atleast 33% left on it. I did not have the back light on high and I had the back screen to shut off after 30 sec. but I thought for a while day of caching it did very well.
  15. I don't post here often but I had to post this one.. a few weeks ago I bought the Garmin Montana 650, I have the Oregon 550 (which also has the GizzMoVest on it) which I like but this one attracted me due to the bigger screen and it does have a few extra bells and whistles that I really like. Anyway four of us decided to do a cache series called Back Home Again in Indiana (GC3Y3H2) which has 125 mystery caches. So I picked up 2 of the 3 cachers that were going with me to meet the 4th cacher and then we were going to make the 3 hour drive to the area. As I picked up the others and they were loading their luggage into the car I must have placed my Montana on the roof of the car. We drove about 30 miles no kidding!!! (and it was raining) and I said to "initforthecache hey grab my GPS for me & see if there are any nearby caches" , she replied "I don't see it" and our other cache mate (blevedeb) who was in the back seat looked for my Montana with no luck. I happened to look in the rear view mirror and there was my Montana which had the GizzMoVest on it and a lanyard which was flapping in the wind...on the back window. We stopped quickly grabbed it and it was wet but still working.. I think if I had not had the GizzMoVest on it I would have been lost my Montana within 2 miles. So the entire weekend we called it the brick. Not only would I have been out of a $529. + GPS but the case I bought for it. Moral of the story never place your GPS on top of the roof of a car, get a case to put it in (GizzMoVest)...It saved me. Has any thing like this happened to anyone else?
  16. thanks for the help I will ck it out... the site http://www8.garmin.c...ils.jsp?id=3888 that isig posted does not seem to work.It gives a "Problem Loading" error.Working on the update now via the updater, its taking a while but I am hoping it will work. I have the 3.6 and now the 3.7 is downloading.
  17. Hi does anyone know where I can find the beta file for the chirp that can be used on the Garmin Colorado? I saw it once and can't find it now. Thanks in advance VonJoeKasey PS I tried the Garmin site and it shows it there for a download but when you click on the icon to download it does not allow you to download it...
  18. I signed up the first time and they said there were no coins left then a friend sent me a link which stated that they were offering them again and I signed up that was maybe a month ago but I'm not holding my breath...
  19. I have the Sony G Cybershot 18.2 mega pixels which takes great pictures and has the GPS tag..along with my Garmin Oregon 550 which takes great pictures as well. I will use the 55 if I want to grab a quick shot of something I might think is a benchmark and the Sony if I want to get great pictures in a area or I if I just don't have my GPS with me and I want to see the cords for future caching.
  20. For sale the explorist 610 hardly used , great unit but I just have to many GPSs to find one cache...
