  1. I wonder if the biggest problem with the Groundspeak app isn't the app but some of the phones it's being used on.
  2. Being a premium member you'd be better off setting up a PQ to get all of the caches you want. To answer your question, yes you can download one cache at a time but you'll be limited to 200 of them.
  3. UPS and USPS guys showed up with my new toys. Not bad delivery times considering I ordered everything on a Friday on a holiday weekend. I've spent the last two hours loading maps and playing with my new Montana 650. First off, this thing is huge but no so big that its hard to handle. I've got small hands and it fits just fine and I can reach everywhere on the screen one handed with my thumb. It makes my Oregon 550 look tiny. Even though the screen resolution is slightly lower, I can't really tell a difference. The graphics are great and like others have said it is lightning fast. Start up times are fast all though I don't have any birdseye on it yet. That seemed to slow my Oregon down. I can't wait to get out in the field and see how well this performs. If it's anything like it seems to be now, it will definitely be that all in one that everyone keeps asking about. Edit: Made easier to read.
  4. I like lightsquareds response, "just put a filter on the gps receiver." That definitely helps the millions of devices already in service.
  5. Where are you getting these "universal" sizes from?
  6. It would be nice to know what it is that actually reduces the stickiness so that we could accelerate that process.
  7. I believe you 100% on being able to change the user agent on your phone browsers. But using your phone browser, you can only manually open so many links in a given amount of time. C:geo can, theoretically, open hundreds of links at once which is impossible for a human to do. That is where the scraping comes into play. For the record, I don't have an Android phone so none of this actually effects me in anyway.
  8. I found one way around this is to use my closed bic pen to do a lot of my panning and selecting on the screen. It seems to take less pressure than a finger and is far more accurate. The shields also do lose a lot of the "stickiness" after some use.
  9. One other thing that c:geo apparently does, I'm not a developer and haven't dug into the software myself to know 100% but, it doesn't identify itself as a mobile app. It was programmed to identify itself to the web servers as a desktop browser. This was done deliberately to allow it to scrape the pages for the information that it needs to function.
  10. Mine just shipped from EMS. I should have it Tuesday. Can't wait!!
  11. Yup, you're right. Lets hope they honor the price for those of us lucky enough to order one while it was up.
  12. How about a link to the 650? I went to their site with my finger on the trigger and can't find the 650. Just type "Montana 650" in the search box at the top of the page, it pops right up.
  13. That may be, but the Montana 600 and 650 are 15% off.
  14. I must say, I'm a little surprised (but not entirely so) at the speed of the price erosion on this one. The usual suspects will be taking their standard slim margins and putting pressure on everyone else. When a manufacturer will sign up nearly anyone as a reseller, it's pretty hard to keep the channel in line - legally, anyway. Still, in the first week of sales, you don't often see 26% off the MSRP like this. I wonder if the margin on these was higher to begin with? EMS is running a sale this weekend. 20% off almost everything. They list the Montana 650 as $549 and then it's 15% or 20% off of that.
  15. I had been searching EMS for when it would be available. I have one close by and when you sign up for emails with them, they give you 15% off your purchase. This is a better deal though. Hopefully mine will be here shortly after the holiday weekend. Anyone want an Oregon 550? :-) Edit: speeling
  16. If you've never done it before it can be tricky. Try slowing down how fast you are rotating the unit. If you go to fast it will fail.
  17. Gpscity list the 650 at $599 and the gps store list it at $589.
  18. Well the Montana isn't released yet and the prices are already coming down.
  19. Modified the 'Arriving at Destination' message banner so that it no longer appears when navigating to a geocache I like that part of the update.
  20. Might allow numbers, I haven't tried. I would suggest sticking with 8.3 filenames to be sure. Obviously you need a recent Oregon/Colorado firmware for this. It was added sometime early 2010 I think? Maybe even late 2009? You can use numbers. I named my topo map "US Topo 24K East.img" and City Nav "CNNANT 2011-3.img" and I have no problem with my Oregon 550.
  21. The problem with a Quad helix is there is no room in the x50 design to fit it.
  22. I would hope they do the manual like the 62 series and put it on internal storage.
  23. Well, I returned my 62s (didn't like the buttons and the screen resolution was dissapointing) and sold my PN-40 so I have cash in hand for a 650. I'll definitely be picking one up the day of release. Lets hope it's just like an Oregon with a bigger and brighter screen. Looking at the pics of this on the FCC site, it looks like the Li-Ion battery is going to be charged inside the unit. I looked but couldn't see an external charging cradle for it. Hopefully it will charge from either the computer USB cable or the 12 volt car adapter. That way it would be able to be used day to day and not have to be opened up to change batteries.
  24. Do you have a link to the FCC site page? Photo's can be found in this thread here: FCC Pics of interior I've seen those, thats the post I quoted. I was hoping there was more of a write up so we could figure out which GPS chip they used.
