  1. Maybe you could mention in the cache details that seekers should take along something to open the container with. I use these for storage of Girl Scout stuff and sometimes it can be v. hard to get the lid off. Peregrinus
  2. I would e-mail the owner. It's the quickest way and I'm sure they will be pleased to know someone is taking an interest in their TB. Peregrinus
  3. I found a TB 'Star wars' and knew I would not move it for a while and let the owner know. Then I started feeling guilty that I was holding on to it too long (I was reading a simular thread to this one) So I put it in BREEDER cache. It is still there, several months have passed. I could have taken it further in the mean time! So my feeling is that either way a TB's fate can not by guided one way of another Peregrinus

  6. Hope I'm not missing something obvious but how do you put a hold on messages while you are on vacation? I have an awful lot of watched caches and even after only a w/e not reading my mail I can come back to 30-40 messages. Peregrinus

  8. Is there really going to be many 'passers by' up there. Or is your multicache on a popular long distance path. we have been to Hardknott castle a couple of times but have only explored the Roman fort and not done any hiking up there. Always such an icy wind blasting through there. I wonder how the Romans stood it! Peregrinus

  12. See this http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=17413 Anyone want to ask if we can copy this great idea and do a San Diego CA- West Sussex England Crossover Cache? I'll do the San Diego End!! Pereginus
  13. Got this off FARK.com http://www.nypost.com/news/worldnews/44110.htm Did they find any caches while they were there? Pereginus
  14. I have put two books in caches. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which was turned into a Travel Bug by Zcat http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?ID=445 Message in a Bottle which I put my email addy in with a note to contact me if and when the book was read and passed on was placed in Dutch Birthday Cache with a View. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=13693 Which has not been taken yet. I hate to part with my books as a rule. When we moved to CA from England, books were our heaviest items to pack! Pereginus

  19. Could you post your treasure hunt here or somewhere. So that people who are unable to come on the day of the meet could "follow your footsteps" when they get to visit Winchester on holiday! We have family in Winchester. Thanks Pereginus

Vista worked great. Only problem was a forementioned problem about tree cover and no satelite. But as soon as I was in the open, we had coverage. Thanks for choosing my cache for your first! I look forward to returning the compliment, by searching for your first hide!! Pereginus
  23. Hi This was posted to a birding list I belong to. I thought that perhaps, other than me, there might be others who bird while they cache hunt and this might help someone. Message: 2 Date: Wed, 13 Mar 2002 15:52:07 -0800 From: Steve Sosensky Subject: GPS found in eastern Sierras Hi Calbirders, I received the following message about a found GPS receiver. Do not respond to me, or to the list. Contact Lance directly at mailto:lance@reason.jpl.nasa.gov. =============== forwarded message ================== Hi Steve, As Calbirds co-owner, I'm emailing you to ask if you would be willing to post a message to Calbirds on my behalf. I'm taking this circuitous approach because my only email is at work and our policy here at JPL is that we aren't supposed to join listservs that aren't work-related. Here's the deal: On March 10 I found a GPS receiver at a well-known birding location in the eastern Sierras. The receiver contains numerous birding locations in California and elsewhere along the west coast in its database, suggesting that the receiver was lost by a birder from California. The receiver still works but the batteries that were in it are dead. I would like to return the receiver to its rightful owner and I thought that Calbirds might help locate that person. I request that the owner contact me privately at mailto:lance@reason.jpl.nasa.gov (i.e. not on Calbirds since I don't subscribe) with the make, model, serial number, and location where the receiver was lost in order to verify ownership. Best wishes, Lance Benner Good birding, Steve for general use for rare birds and emergencies only Steve Sosensky, photographer www.sosensky.com 10834 Blix Street #213 818-508-4946 Toluca Lake, CA 91602 34*09'02" N, 118*22'47" W Audubon in So.
