  1. I got all excited about bookcrossing in caches.Sadly of the two I put out first, one got lost when the cache fell inside a tree. The second cache was thrown into a river, so I guess the book was spoiled. I lost heart after that and have not placed anymore yet. I still think it's a great idea but will choose the caches more carefully! Peregrinus
  2. It won't be long and he'll be rushing ahead and beating you to the cache! Until he does, savour every moment that you share. Congrats! Peregrinus

  4. We just placed a cache at a site where we would like our ashes scattered. I did not mention it on the cache page as I thought people might think it a bit morbid, but perhaps I will now. Peregrinus
  5. when we went to the West Kennett Long barrow cache (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=27141 and looking at this web page http://thecropcirclewebsite.50megs.com/index.html We must have just missed another at the Alton Barnes cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=19696 Looking in August there crop circles near several other caches too. Is there a connection do you think? Peregrinus
  6. I found this web site today http://london.cowparade.net/ I thought they would make a good locationless cache! I don't live near London So thought that someone who does might be interested. Let me know if you decide to make a cache, the photos would be interesting. I understand that some cows are even on the roof of buildings. Has anyone seen them? Peregrinus

  8. My signature item is a 'beach safe' It is a coin holder/whistle/compass combo and recently I have started putting in a personilized card made at home with my Printshop Delux program and/or a Georged dollar. Localy there is a company in Carlsbad called Upperdeck on their website www.upperdeck.com you can design your own card with pictures and any details you like and then they will send them to you. Upper Deck's personalized trading cards are available to purchase in packs of 9 for $14.99 or packs of 18 for $24.99. (THUD Peregrinus
  9. We're having a holiday on the canal in July, Can't wait It's our first narrowboat cruise since 1987. I have marked all the caches within striking distance of our course. I'm thinking about placing a multi cache, if I have time. I don't want to be accused of abandonment though! We hope to get family interested in the maintenance of the cache. I'd love it if a local would place a cache somewhere by the canal between Aldermaston & Devizes! Peregrinus
  10. Yes! It is fun. And great people here too! Nothing beats putting out a cache in a favourite place and reading the finders logs!! As to your nearest cache, if it's so close why not go there and see for yourself,if you can't find it email the owner and see if they have an answer for you. Or if you want a successful first find go to a cache that has been found recently then you can be reasonably sure it will be there Peregrinus

  14. I think you could combine them. Anyone who is at Yellowstone on vacation could do them at their own pace. You could allow people a minimum of say 4 out of the 6 to get a smiley face if you think that they would not attempt to do your multicache in the time they have. Or maybe the moderators would allow you to make it into 2 multicaches of 3 each. Try to find a compromise. After all the number of finds should'nt be the driving force. Peregrinus

  17. We found an ammo box on top of Garnet Peak when looking for this cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=14257 It seemed to us to be there for people on a pilgrimage from a nearby Retreat. The logs were full of v. emotional entries! Peregrinus

  19. I notice that you have not done/completed INBETWEEN yet! That is a good example of a different cache. Peregrinus

  21. You can get sheets of laminating stuff from office supply stores or Walmart-woolworth type stores. Sheets come in packs vary in size from Business card cover to full page. I thought it would be good to put the co-ords to the next waypoint on a Business card (blank ones can also be purchased) Laminate it then place in film canister or whatever small container you decide to use. 22. Thanks for those suggestions. I'm not looking to 'do' the pct caches but am just interested in reading about the caches and logs of those who find them! I have done the couple I know about locally: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=13762 Down the view deck and http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=14257 Auf Wiedersehen (farewell cache) It would be fun perhaps to join them together much the same way as CacheacrossAmerica is doing. Peregrinus
  23. Can anyone tell me of any caches on or v.near the Pacific Crest or John Muir trails. Searching using the zipcode is difficult. Thanks Peregrinus
