  1. Awesome news HiddenGnome! Great job tracking it down guys and glad to see this could be fixed soon
  2. When I bring up a map of geocaches in either Chrome or Firefox, I am unable to select a cache. The zoom and moving around on the map works. The hand grab icon (not the select icon) is there when I hover over a cache, but when I click on a geocache it won't bring up the description. The map is locking up as well. It's an intermittent problem, but occurs more often than not and doesn't appear to be fixed. How did you navigate to the map? Directly? From the search page map preview? From a PQ map preview? --From a cache page map or from the search page map preview Which map layer are you using? Google Maps? One of the Leaflet layers? (If so, which?) --Google Maps - but tried Leaflet with same problems Does the bug only occur after certain actions on the map (e.g. zooming, panning)? Or are you unable to open caches as soon as you open the map? --Only occurs when trying to click on the cache icon in the map to bring up the description Which browser version and OS version are you using? --Chrome Version 53.0.2785.116 m (64-bit) --Windows 10 Home Version 1511 OS Build 10586.589
  3. Hi - I don't know what changed in the last 48 - 72 hours, but when I bring up a map of geocaches in either Chrome or Firefox, I am unable to select a cache. The zoom and moving around on the map works. The hand grab icon (not the select icon) is there when I hover over a cache, but when I click on a geocache it won't bring up the description. The map is locking up as well. HELP!!! Anyone know what's going on?
  4. fixed width is terrible! But I do like the most of the other site updates .... GC is not the only people/company around having problems with max/min width in CSS3 using IE 6/7/8. This is not an uncommon problem at all. You can find all kinds of JavaScript code samples out there to get around this issue considering IE is a very popular browser. With many languages - can't CSS be used to determine the layout based on language selected / defaulted? I really don't claim to be an expert by any means. Lots of developers in this global geocaching community. Just hoping that *maybe* there are options to solve this problem! Good luck to GC trying to make everyone happy. I know, I know, it's just a game!
  5. Thanks for the feedback because I knew that Fox had the Wranglers but read such bad reviews about that company online! We decided to play it safe and get a car from a "major" company. But glad to hear you had a good experience with them!
  6. Just wanted to reply to everyone who posted or may see this. We altered our plans - and did the ET Highway and a few caches in the Las Vegas metro area. We also drove to AZ, UT and Death Valley, CA! It was a GREAT vacation bagging over 1,100 caches. Woo Hoo! Hertz had a great rate on the SUV's which all in that class have higher ground clearance, 4x4 or AWD. We had a Chevy Traverse that did fine with the AWD in the SNOW on the ET Highway. But I never found a Jeep Wrangler or anything else more rugged to take on some serious off roading. Moose Mob - we got one of your wooden nickles! Thanks everyone! We love the West. But stuck in the Midwest. Hopefully not for too much longer!!!
  7. Hi, We are heading out west in November. We have been out there many times in our "pre-geocaching" lifetime - doing Valley of Fire, Red Rocks, other places on foot and exploring the outlying areas as much as we could just being curious nature lovers. We are looking at the caches in the area - and some harder terrain caches really mean that you need a "high profile 4wd vehicle" ....... so the question is this. Is there ANY company that would rent you a 4wd vehicle and how do you approach them if they do? We really want to get some Earthcaches in the Valley of Fire area - Death Valley area - Grand Canyon area but are worried that we need a rugged vehicle for roads and the ones we like. At home - I drive a full size super crew 4wd F-150 truck - and can handle just about anything. Advice from the folks out west? Thanks! Kathy (1/2 of creekstompers)
  8. Hi, I used to get the GC Newsletter with recent hides in my area. That stopped at some point and now I get the newsletter with "Please enter your home coordinates so we can provide information on new geocaches and geocaching events near you". My home coordinates appear on the Account Details tab. I have tried deleting them and re-adding them. Am I missing something? Thanks! creekstompers
  9. Yeah, I have deleted it - and it does create a new file. But the new file also just either doesn't populate or has a single character in it. Sounds like it's time to contact Garmin
  10. Hi, I have purchased a Nuvi 550 ... and uploaded the latest firmware which took care of the "rebooting" when selecting certain caches. Now I have a different problem. When I try to log a cache (found, unfound, whatever) --- it lets me happily go thru the motions. But when I go to view the file on my computer - the file is EMPTY!!! OH NO! Now what do I do? They show up as found or unfound on the unit - but the log did not take and the log file is empty. Anyone else have this problem? Just curious before I start bugging Garmin about it. TIA! creekstompers
  11. Hi, Searched for this topic and couldn't find anything (don't want to be a Dead Horse offender) ..... We are planning a trip to Buffalo, and we really want to cross the Canada border to do some geocaching there. We have crossed the border there in the past, but just to see the falls, and that was our reason. We have passports, we know what crossing the border is like. Straight answers, no goofing around, hide your radar detector, don't bring beer, etc. Does anyone ever use the "We are coming to Canada to do some geocaching" as the reason for the visit? Just looking for anyone with experience with this (maybe local Buffalo residents) to see if there is anything I am missing / lacking when it comes to dealing with those grumpy customs agents!
