  1. After looking at District 11 I cleaned up the cache page for District 12 and added a couple of things I had forgotten. I'll try to leave it alone for a while. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the cache pages.
  2. District 12 was published a day early. It was mostly my fault. My reviewer agreed to publish it today but I needed to revise the coordinates after it was reviewed. After getting the page unlocked, fixing it, resubmitting it, etc... I think the reviewer missed my request to publish it on 3/23 in my second note on my revised submission. So, long story short, make sure to get everything on your cache page right the first time.
  3. My question is why did you keep looking? If it is obvious that the area is private, I leave and head to the next one. Hey I couldn't just leave a FTF sorry. Sorry, but that's no a lousy excuse. Fixed it for ya. FTF is not a valid reason to ignore private property signs. The correct thing to do would be to turn around, go home, and log a NA so no one else attempts it. Going for it anyway just makes all of us look bad and doesn't solve the obvious problem. Honestly, I would have thought a cacher with so many finds would know better. +1 To the OP, post NA and let the CO and the reviewer sort it out. If it needs to be archived it will be.
  4. I don't care one way or another about the religious material, but I sure do wanna visit Chickville!! Does it live up to its name? Does it?!? It'll stop you in your tracts! I see what you did there.
  5. And you know you're a forum regular when you immediately recognize the topic and dredge up a few of the previous threads like this one. The funny part is that a forum regular is just as likely to make a comment about dredging up an old thread and adding to it.
  6. You can get (9) lock & lock containers of various sizes here for $18 dollars delivered, today only. I like the ones with the clear lids. Edit: Just checked back. Clear lids are gone.
  7. Since swineflew seems to be offended by my posts, (I'm being chastised on this in another thread as well) I'll drop it. If mingo goes it is squarely on the shoulders of the CO at this point.
  8. I said very little in the first thread. From my perspective the horse isn't dead. I suspect that if KS doesn't deal with this issue soon the horse will be dead with a DNR order.
  9. I have already stated that KS has to step up. Based on my (somewhat limited) observations, KS has either: Run out of time six weeks ago. Or: Has 3-10 months left to address the issue.
  10. Assuming the highway crew did this, I believe the problem will go away when they do. I don't know if it's the highway crew that is doing this, but I don't think the highway crew is going to go away until the highway goes away. And I don't see that happening anytime soon. I love the history, I love the story, and I envy those who were able to experience the real Mingo. But Mingo is dead. Long live Mingo. This high profile cache was allowed to remain disabled for nearly six months with no feedback from the owner. My point is that GS cuts some slack when they deem it appropriate. I think Mingo deserves a little slack. I don't. No cache should be treated any different, ever. If you can point me to a standard that GS applies consistently regarding disabled caches I would agree. A look at disabled and archived caches leads me to the conclusion that there are no hard and fast rules and there is no "standard" procedure for archiving disabled caches.

  12. -1 (provided KS steps up.) Or, at least steps aside and allows someone that can maintain the cache to adopt it. If Mingo where archives the next oldest active cache would be GC12...a cache in the same general area as the Original Stash, Groundspeak HQ (and all the local events they hose), and a very cache rich area. Frankly, I"m glad that the oldest active cache is somewhere else. You are entitled to your opinion, as we all are. I'm not glad to see this cache go. From where I sit the location of the next oldest cache has no real bearing on the situation. At least I hope it doesn't.
  13. Assuming the highway crew did this, I believe the problem will go away when they do. The real question is whether chiseling out the hole would constitute a violation of the current guidelines or be "grandfathered" in.
  14. The problem as I see it at this point is that the Kansas Stasher hasn't weighed in on the issue for a couple of months. Ultimately he will determine whether this cache is re-activated or archived.
  15. Good luck to you. I don't know the Kansas Stasher but it would be great to keep this cache alive. I read a fair amount of the previous thread and posted a couple of comments.
  16. Am I the only one that thinks this thread has kept Mingo alive longer than it would have been otherwise?
  17. You're closing the Mingo thread?? Geez. You make me sad.
  18. You bring up some good points. I can tell you that the state parks in Maryland require explicit permission and also require the use of transparent containers.
  19. What are you talking about? What Tupperware? Get off my lawn!!!
  20. aneMae, I have challenged you in many of the threads you've participated in or started. I don't harbor any ill will towards you. You ruffle feathers but that's because it seems like you approach issues as black and white. I tend to see most things as different shades of grey. (or is it gray?) My point is that these forums aren't completely reflective of the community at large. We look at our monitors and type on our keyboards and we can't properly grasp tone, or intent. Meanings get lost and the teachings get tossed and we don't know what we're going to do next. We wait for the sun but it never quite comes... Oops. Sorry. A little Dan Fogleberg just creeped into my head. You are obviously intelligent. You are obviously passionate. Take the time to meet with your fellow cachers. I think both you and they will be pleasantly surprised.
  21. Platinum? Please. Anyone can be a platinum member. As for other types? I know nothing of other types.
  22. GC1812D Okay. I recalled that the CO suggested where to park for this cache. I just looked again and unless I am mistaken, the CO has made it much more clear about where and where not to park. Don't get me wrong, that's a good thing, but did it change?
  23. I'd need to recheck the cache page but I believe the CO gave instructions on where to park in this instance.
  24. +1 I am torn between hoping TPTB lock this train wreck and hoping AneMae comes back and continues to prove I was correct in my skepticism. AneMae, either email the CO the GC code and give him an opportunity to address the situation or take your ball and go home.
