  1. Thank you to all for contributions and vistors to the 'Art of Geocaching' event. Just over 50 visitors turned up, there was a queue at the start and then a contanst stream of visitors throughout the day. There were some teething problems at first and not all exhibits made it into the gallery. This is due to lack of planning of my part and I apolgise for this. However, the exhibits available on the day were well receieved. For my first time to host an event, I was pleased with the way it went. Visitors also welcomed a day-time event which was a change from an evening meeting in a bar/restaurant, this was especially true for geocacehers with geokids. This is a break from the norm, and a first of its type, so if I hold another similar event or anyone else wishes to organise a similar one I have loads of tips and gothcha's to be aware of. I'm pleased to offer my support on this. I will be contacting all the contritors now to confirm the details of the return of their contributions. I will also send back some mementos of the event.

  4. Just finished Kunarion's. I really like this one... I need to learn how to take better close up photos...
  5. Aniyn's done... Thanks for participating. more to come...
  6. I would just like to offer out another thank you to all those geocachers who have contributed to the exhibition. I'm organising the exhibits now, I have set the late date for exhibits at Sunday October 11, 2009. I have just started to get through the next load of parcels… Thank you ckpetrus for your hand-crafted poker chip signature item. I'll add a little text and the associated photos to this poke chip on the display. Lovely wooden nickels from sarahbelle are going to be great addition to the wooden nickel exhibit. Thank you. I'm still sorting through the parcels, so there will be for thanks to follow…
  7. I've been working on some other exhibits, but I'm going to see if I can finished two more poker chip signature items...
  8. I would like to thank the lady who dropped off the Geocaching logo collage on Saturday 3 October 2009. It is fantastic and I will be honoured to show it in the exhibition. However, I don't have your name or geocaching team name so I can't attribute it in the programme and on the display. If you are that kind lady, please PM me through my profile page.
  9. Snoogans poker chip signature item done... Sorry the photo really doesn't do it justice. I'll try and find my more expensive camera _ it is lying around here somewhere...
  10. Wow, thanks GEO*Trailblazer 1, you done most of the work for me! @Chrysalides: I have finished the prototype, I chose a black 100 chip, a two slightly different blank white/blue chips... Sorry my camera isn't very good with close-ups. ...now on to Snoogans...
  11. I am now pulling together exhibits for my 'Art of Geocaching' event in Worcester, England. After my initial request for exhibits and a request for geocoins, I found that a few geocachers from around the world said they would have liked to attend the event but can't because of the distance. So to part rectify this I have created a new hands-on exhibit that people many miles from England can participate in… I have about 300 poker chips available and some sheets of 25mm circular labels. Since my poker chip signature item section is very sparse, I decided to make this new exhibit. This is a hands-on exhibit, 'Make your own geocaching poker chip'. If you want a few poker chip signature items, post a reply on this thread with an linked photo of your design (please make it circular in shape). I will then reproduce it on my colour laser printer onto the labels. I'll pick out some poker chips, stick the labels on and voila! Your very own poker chip signature item, yours to keep. I will show one in the exhibition and then post them all to you. What are you waiting for? Post your design and what colour poker chip you would prefer… Then PM me through my profile page with your postal address.
  12. Ribbit, ribbit! Thank you HouseOfDragons, your frog geocache came in the mail. It will make it to the 'Cool Containers' section of the exhibition.
  13. Hi everyone. I just want to say a big thank you to all those people who have sent me an exhibit for the exhibition. Your contributions and messages of encouragement have been overwhelming and most appreciated. Keep them coming… I'm a bit light on wooden nickels, pathtags, signature cards, and signature items. Do you have anything to loan to the exhibition? In return you will receive photos of visitors at your exhibit, comments, and a exclusive 'Art of Geocaching' wooden nickel. Send exhibits to: The Art of Geocaching Event The Pitt Studio 62 Chestnut Walk Worcester WR1 1PR United Kingdom Please be sure to mark your package with 'The Art of Geocaching', and don't forget to leave a return address. Or via email: info@pittstudio.com

Don't worry you will recieve some photos of visitors at your exhibit, comments, and my event wooden nickel. I'm still on the lookout for wooden nickels for the exhibition. I still haven't had delivery of my own nickels, but as soon as I do I will be mailing them out.

  16. Hi everyone. I just want to say a big thank you to all those people who have sent me a geocoin for the exhibition. Your contributions and messages of encouragement have been overwhelming and most appreciated. I have 7 lots in the gallery devoted to geocoins, so I don't need any more for display. If anyone wishes to send geocoins, I can only add them to a common area, where visitors will be able to handle, discover and grab (like ordinary events). You are welcome to do this. Below are the 7 exhibit lots laid out ready for hanging (the exhibit numbers may change). I haven't quite worked out to mount the geocoins yet. I will take photos of visitors admiring them at the exhibition and post them on the event cache page (as well as send them to the owners)… Exhibit #115: Kathy's Coin; drneal Due to the wonderful story I have made this geocoin into 2 lots. Exhibit #116 Thirstymick Personal Geocoin; Thirstymick This exhibit takes up one lot. Exhibit #117 Upik Nuannertoq Geocoin; mickebush77 I have had delivery of your masterpieces! Thank you. I'm still working on this exhibit. It should take up one lot. Exhibit #118 Geocoin; Dressel Dragons Thank you for sending the artwork and photos for this geocoin. You have given me so much that I have decided on placing a digital display next to your exhibit to show the other photos. Exhibit #119 Logan's Rainbow Bridge Geocoin; drneal This geocoin has been delivered and wow, a truly beautiful geocoin _ and so big. I haven't sorted out an exhibit for this yet but it will take up one lot. Exhibit #120 Cachin' Crow; opalsns I have had delivery of these two coins. I'm just about finishing laying out the exhibit. This will be the 7th geocoin lot. I'll post information when I get it. Thank you everyone for your support. If you are able to attend see you there, if not look out for the photos at the event.
  17. Wow, wow and wow . I'm getting up early tomorrow and find this cache.
  18. Fantastic, thanks. You can send hi-res photos one at a time to info@pittstudio.com or post them on a photo site like flickr then email me the address and I will pick them up, or send them to the address on CD/DVD. Unless anyone knows if there is a service (like a public ftp site) that could do this? Yeah I still want flags. There is a forecourt/driveway in front of the gallery and Geocaching flags would help visitors find us (and also make a great exhibit). Thank you.
  19. Thanks MrsB, I look forward to displaying them. The contributions are starting to come in. I have split the art gallery into 38 A3 paper-size lots: *I have filled 6 lots of geocoin displays, so I don't need any more geocoins for display. * I have 1 lot available for signature cards (laminated business-card size) but that's filling up fast. * One lot available for wooden nickels. I will be happy to trade an 'Art of Geocaching' event wooden nickel, or accept them on loan. * I'm looking out for badges (buttons) and pins. I have allocated one lot for this but do not have enough to fill it. * I also need pathtags to fill my pathtag display. * Any small crafty camo containers or novelty containers are welcome. * I would like to display custom designed/made stamps and log stickers. Just stamp or place a sticker on a clean white piece of paper and send it to me. * Any custom designed/made signature items are welcome. I already have some great ones from the States, but there is space for more. * If you have a puzzle cache on the drawing board then, if possible, send it to me and I will test drive it for you at the event. * I have arranged two large TVs and a projector, so I will be happy to display 'truckloads' of photos and videos. Thanks you all for lending your exhibits, posting 'will attend' posts and emails/messages of encouragement. Keep them coming. I will return exhibits back to owners along with an event wooden nickel and copies of the visitors comment book. Sorry Dorestgal & GeoDog. I will send you a message now. Send exhibits to: The Art of Geocaching Event The Pitt Studio 62 Chestnut Walk Worcester WR1 1PR United Kingdom Please be sure to mark your package with 'The Art of Geocaching', and don't forget to leave a return address. Or via email: info@pittstudio.com Information, photos, and progress of the exhibits will be posted on the event cache page: http://coord.info/GC1X98A
  20. For me its creativity of the hide and the thrill of finding a cache when muggles around you have no idea about what is happening right before their eyes.
  21. I have been to the studio tonight to measure up the exhibits. I have split the studio into exhibit lots. There are 38 lots available. So far for geocoins I have allocated 4 lots: 2 for drneal's Kathy's Coin: 1 for Thirstymick's Personal Coin. I have received the coin (thank you), the display is work-in-progress: 1 for opalsns' Cachin' Crow Geocoin. I have received the coins (thank you), the display is work-in-progress: Yes, although I have to accommodate other exhibits (wooden nickels, signature items, camos, photos and videos, etc.). I have reserved a total of 6 lots for geocoins, so there are two lots left. I will allocate on a first-post-first-serve basis. I'll post the displays here when I have finished them. Thank you everyone for your support and contributions.
