  1. Had this been handled by an email rather than opening a thread on the forums, that is the explanation you would have gotten. My humble opinion is that the above is the only relevant, and probably the singular defining post of this entire ridiculous thread. I understand that the person who started the thread had a gripe about their reviewer and an event they were not allowed to post...but I hardly see how NEFGA is responsible for any of that. And I hardly see how trying to trash NEFGA in the forums is going to get your event listed or make your reviewer 'see the error of their ways'. If you have an issue with your reviewer, TAKE IT UP WITH YOUR REVIEWER. There is even a procedure you can follow to go above your reviewer's level of 'authority'. I can even see the point of your complaint about your non-listed event, and might even possibly agree with it had it not come in the form of attacking a group of people you have never met and obviously don't know anything about. I can even see how a MO event would raise eyebrows..but...is it really worth all this? I will admit that HSC (also in my humble opinion) does get excited, and comes across very wrong on the forums sometimes...but it is only because he is a strong and loyal member of NEFGA and defends it as he would defend his family. So when people who have never met any NEFGAN's start talking crap about them, he reacts. He just has a little further to go to be able to laugh about it like the rest of us instead of getting angry...or maybe he's more susceptible to the angst... People who know NEFGAN's or have attended a NEFGA event know what is up. And that is all that matters to us. Like ICM said, I certainly don't care about being popular in the forums here. There is nothing but angst around here and this thread is simply more proof of that. It always strikes me as funny that the people who complain about NEFGA the most are people who have never had one bit of interaction with NEFGA other than whining about them on the forums. I'm off to the enormously more friendly and helpful NEFGA forums now. Happy CACHING!
  2. This thread has been cracking me up, which I need desperately lately. Thanks to everyone!!!!!!!! And I do mean Everyone. We couldn't laugh like this without you. OK we could and DO but sometimes it's fun to laugh at strangers too. Especially when they start it....and continue it...and draaaaaaaag it out.... See my signature:
  3. Aww man...I wanted to go to this event but my 'Members Only' status has temporarily lapsed so I KNOW I would have been turned away at the door. Because everyone who is really anyone knows that that is exactly how NEFGA is... I was gonna bring a pocket cache, too....oh, well, y'alls loss...
  4. I vote for Nolefan9399!!! I *think* I was there that day...even if I wasn't, I was definitely there on a similar ride on another day in the same jeep!!
  5. I am SOOOO lucky to have found one of these great coins in Jacksonville, FL yesterday morning. Wish I'd read this thread earlier....I'm also lucky that apparently no one else around here knew about it either! It sat in the cache I found it in for five days before I grabbed it. I was amazed it was there, and thrilled to death. Thanks, Geocoin Fairy, for a much-needed great big smile!! Off to add myself to the Frappr map...
  6. I just noticed I was having the same problem, too. :-( That's why I'm here in the forums! They actually DO serve a useful purpose, sometimes. I only run two pq's, three times a week each. The last ones I received were on 9/9. Just requested them to run today and they did. I am going to turn them off for the other two days, and back on again, and see if that helps. :-) My notifications and watchlist stuff and everything was still coming, though. I use gmail so I have plenty of room...
  7. Hi I hope you are using GSAK to filter and transfer your waypoints. It's a great program! AND, it will allow you to do exactly what you are saying here that you are trying to do. You can set up GSAK to actually assign different icons, if you want to, to represent multis, micros, etc. when they are loaded to your unit. PM me or a friend local to you for more specific information about how to do it. Happy caching!
  8. Tee hee. I call mine 'my unit'. It gets an occasional laugh, from cachers and non-cachers alike.
  9. Crow T. Robot is spiffy! And thanks to everyone for what you do.
  10. I wanted to throw my 2 cent's worth in here and say I DEFINITELY vote for Jacksonville for the next one. And not only because I live here and it would be incredibly convenient for me. Being a rookie here in Jax with a measley 119 finds, I can attest to the fact that the cachers here are some of the friendliest people around. And 'avid' doesn't quite do the caching around here justice; 'voracious' is probably more like it. But a nice, friendly kind of voracious. I went to my first event, the Trivial Cache Adventure Series Extravaganza last month. And the Campout afterwards. I can't remember the last time I was made to feel so welcome! Or had so much fun. I knew, just based on the very little interaction I had had with other local cachers at the time, that this would be a fun and well-planned event. I went in with high expectations and they were surpassed by a mile. Well, four, actually haha (read the logs!) I remember sitting around the scented candle with everyone at the campout and saying, "Seems like I couldn't have had a better place to get started in caching". Everyone agreed (of course). And not out of snobbery, but I think just because they are proud of the community they've created and what they have built here. The more time goes by, the more keenly aware I am of this fact. Cachers around here take the sport seriously and know how to get smileys, plan kick-a** events, have a great time, and be kind and considerate to each other. All at the same time! Also, did anyone mention that there's a lot of caches in Jacksonville? No? Well, there are. And I'm about to put out some beach access micros in Fernandina (nearby) for those who want to cache in between checking out chicks in bikinis. How's that for 2 cents?
  11. Hey this problem seems to be fixed. Yay! Thank you, Geocaching.com
  12. I'm having the same problem. I'm at least glad that it's not that I'm missing a huge box on the page that says, "click here, dummy!" I just got my subscription confirmed a couple of days ago, and I thought that maybe this feature would kick on in a day or two, but no such luck. What up?!?
