  1. Thanks for your help. I have the Chrome browser that I use full time, but an Internet Explorer shortcut on my desktop. I had Firefox a few years ago on other pc, but have not installed it on my laptop. I may have to do that. Sad about Chrome, as I really like using that as my main browser. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.
  2. I've been having trouble downloading GC'es to my GPS. I have an Delorme Earthmate PN-20, that I've been using since 2009. When I go to "send to my gps", when it gets to "checking for browser plug in" ...it says it can not find it, to download it here. I've clicked that button so many times, I have more than 5 copies of that plug in now. Last week, while travelling, and wanting to GC, I had a new msg. pop up. It says, "NPAPI plugins don't work on Chrome Version 42 and higher"...also "support has ended." I did all that was instructed in enabling the plugins, but it still is not working. Also, I tried a different browser, as prior to Windows 10, Internet Explorer was working for me, to download GC'es, but now, that doesn't work either. Please help. Is my gps obsolete all of a sudden? I do not have a smart phone, and am wondering if I need to get a new gps. I hope not, as it is not in the budget right now. Thanks. Jststmpit
  3. I used to be able to view GC map, and download caches from the map. Now, I'm unable to access them from the map? What's up with that? Is there a way to do that with the changes to the site? Also, I'm now unable to find the NEW caches that have been placed in my state. How do I do this? They say, change is good, but I'm certainly not liking it on this site. It's definitely more difficult to find things now. Please FW any links to show me the way of the new. Thanks. Jststmpit
  4. Maybe it has been answered elsewhere, but I just want to be able to find the NEW CACHES in my state. How the heck do I do that with this new search? Really HATE this new stuff. I knew where everything was the old way. Please give us that option back.
  5. That's what I want to know too. WHICH gps for car navigation? and can I upload guardrail gc'es into it? I'm wanting the 5" screen in the car, but still plan to use my handheld to actually find the gc'es. TOMTOM or NUVI? Which is better? Can TOM TOM even do gc'es?
  6. I'm looking to buy a GPS that I can also use for GC'ing. I already have a handheld and am quite satisfied with it. I originally just wanted to get a gps for my car, but then I started thinking that if I got one that I could easily download gc'es to, maybe those great guardrail caches along powertrails would be easier to locate, without looking at the tiny screen on my handheld. Looking for opinions (pros and cons) on the best driving gps, for me to get...that I can also put gc'es on as well, by direct download from gc site. Thanks for your help...in advance.
  7. Can anyone give me some helpful advice. I haven't downloaded any new geocaches since around May or June of this year onto my GPS. When I plugged my device into the pc, it says it does not recognize the new hardware. When I go to Delorme to get an update, it seems to update fine, but when I download the gc to my gps, it gets hung up on the "recognizing device" and won't go any further. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks! Jststmpit
  8. Can someone explain step by step to me how to download a gpx file to my Delorme PN-20 in order to put the GC on my receiver? When I click on the "send to gps" button on the GC description, it is not downloading. Thanks for your help. Jststmpit
  9. This may sound like a dumb question, but how do you update your firmware? I may have done so already, and just don't know if I did?
  10. Hi all! I have a Delorme PN-20. I need to download some more topo states, but my current memory card (1 GB) will not fit the new states. Does anyone know what is the largest SD memory that the PN-20 can handle? Can you put an 8 GB one in it? Please let me know asap as I'm going to be taking a trip soon, and want to add several states (routes and pocket queries) onto a new card. Thanks! Jststmpit
  11. I have been trying for several hours to understand the directions for creating a route and making a pocket querie of the area to which I will be travelling soon. Could some kind soul, send me EASY DIRECTIONS (I'm not yelling...just emphasizing) for doing this? I have a Delorme PN-20 GPS. I did this once, but it has been awhile, and it seems like I had trouble then too. I just don't remember, how I did it. Much thanks for your help. Jststmpit
  12. Fresh out of the box, downloaded it yesterday, and today when I try to go to Topo, It's a big empty file box!!! In all the sections it says, No Controls Specified. What the heck does that mean, and how do I fix it?? I traded the Triton in for this because of software issues. Now I'm having them again??? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall? Someone please help. I'm frustrated beyond belief that this is happening yet again. jststmpit
  13. Hope you have better luck with NG maps than I did. I uninstalled, and reinstalled them, and never could get the maps to work. Little red box...? Mine never did have that. I actually like the gpsr though. DH says we can't keep both though (BTW...I bought a Delorme Pn-20 earlier this week, so the Triton is going back). The maps on the pn are wonderful. I haven't figured out how to add gc's yet, but anything that picks up the gas station and side road street names in my little 1 traffic lite town, has to be powerful! Jststmpit
  14. OK...these are probably dumb questions, but I'm rather new here, so I'm rather dumb on some of this lingo. What is Pocket Query? What is GSAK? Thanks for your quick reply.
  15. I traded my Triton 400 in for the the PN-20 due to issues with the mapping software. Now I'm just trying to figure out the pn-20 so I can go gc'ing again. I was reading the instructions and it said something about loc files for GC'ing. I was using gpx files on the Triton, which provided clues on the GPSr as well. Does the loc files do the same thing? Everyone here says gpx files are better. Does anyone know if gpx files work on the pn-20? Any further "out of the box" instructions you can give would be greatly appreciated. TIA! jststmpit
  16. I have read over all the info that I could find on this software. It is NOT very user friendly at all IMHO. If anyone has this software, could you please share how you get maps to your gps. I know that I have to connect with usb, that is not the problem. When I log in and got to the topo.com site, it just doesn't explain things very well. TIA for any help you can provide. Jststmpit
  17. This may seem like a dumb question, but what type of "swag" are you supposed to put into a cache, after you have removed from it? Do you all have loot hidden in your cars to replace in the cache? Does it have to be official geocache stuff or what? TIA for any help on this.
  18. Santa (DH) was good this year. I got a Magellan Triton 400. (I'm a newbie to caching, and haven't figured out how to do anything on it yet. I've been reading the reviews for this, though, and am not sure if I'm going to keep it or not. PM me other comparable models....user friendly, + SD slot)
  19. Hi! I'm new here. Been lurking for awhile, but now that I got a GPS for Christmas, I'm hoping to join in. My DH got me a Magellan Triton 400. I've downloaded the software today, but I'm afraid I did something wrong. Error messages pop up...says I'm not connected, when I am...and the National Geographic Topo Maps pop up with an error too. He said he researched it, and thought this one would be a good one for my new "hobby" , but after reading some of the negative comments about that particular one here, NOW, I'm not so sure. Maybe it's just too late to even download stuff tonight and I just can't see straight. Possibly a fresh start in the morning? If anyone has this unit, that can offer me some advice, I sure would appreciate it. TIA... Jststmpit
