  1. Check out ebay. There's a lot there.
  2. No, I'm not the seller. I just wonder what you guys think. See it here.
  3. sport (spôrt, sp rt) n. 1. a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. b. A particular form of this activity. 2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. 3. An active pastime; recreation. This definition comes from www.dictionary.com. By this definition, I call geocaching a sport. It is a physical and a mental activity. It is a skill governed by a set of rules and customs, and it is an active recreational pastime. I have heard the argument that since there is no score, that it is not a sport. But I would argue that our logs of caches are, in fact, a type of scoring. Edited to correct error
  4. I would loved to have a fancy GPS unit factory-installed in my next vehicle. A Magellan RoadMate 700 would be awesome! Is this happening yet? If not, how long will it be? I can't belive this won't be available soon. Any thoughts or information?
  5. I am considering adding MapSend US Streets and Destinations to my Magellan Meridian Color. What will this gain me over the pre-installed software? Will the added software take up much space? I have a 128 SD card installed, do I use that for the software? Also, my wife has a Meridian Platinum, can I use the software in two units? As you can see, I am looking for help in making the decision about whether or not to add this software. I use my GPS mainly for geocaching, but may use it in my car sometimes, too. Thanks.
  6. I'm new, too. Can you please explain why people set up premium caches vs. caches for everyone? Do I need to be a premium member to find a lot of great caches in my area.
  7. I'm new to the sport so forgive my questions, but I'm curious about correct lingo here. Is a person sho participates in this sport called a geocacher? A person who places a cache, are they called a cache placer, cache owner, or perhaps a cache-master? Do you say, "I'm going cache hunting," or "I'm going geocaching." How about, "I'm going to look for a cache?" Is geocaching truly a sport, or a hobby? Thanks in advance.
  8. How is this for Geocaching? I'd also like to use it for driving. Anyone have any experience with this software or are there any reviews I can read? Thanks!
  9. I am very glad to see a well-organized geocaching group in Nebraska. My wife and I are new to the sport. We live in Fremont. I don't know if we'll be attending the meeting, but count us in for support. Where do we sign up?
  10. I checked out the NiMH rechargable batteries and their chargers at WalMart today. I can buy a lot of Alkaline batteries for that cost. Can anyone share their experiences with rechargeables? What do you use? Anyone prefer alkaline non-rechargeables? Please explain. Thanks.
  11. My new Magellan give me coordinates 41 xx.xxx N and 096 xx.xxx W That doesn't correspond to what Mapquest accepts. The just want degrees, minutes, and seconds - two digits each. What am I doing wrong? Here is the Mapquest site: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/latlong.adp
  12. I am trying to learn to use my new unit. I would like a website that will tell me the latitude and longitude of an address, such as my home. Thanks.
  13. Does it have to be a palm? I already have a very nice Ipaq.
  14. Thanks for all the info so far. It is appreciated.
  15. My wife and I are new to the sport. We just bought a new Magellan Meridian Color GPS via ebay. It should arrive in a couple of days, so we haven't started looking for caches yet. I've been thinking this is something my wife and I can do together. We're young (40) and in pretty good shape. A walk in the woods looking for a cache sounds like fun to me. It combines my loves of techology, mystery, hunting, and nature. My wife seems sceptical. She loves the walking and nature parts, though. Are there any other couples out there who can relates experiences? I'd like some responses that I can show my wife to show her that this is a good couples sport. Thanks!
  16. I am new to the sport. I am looking to buy a Magellan Color GPS like this one. I am asking for opinions. Does anyone have any experience with this model or one similar? I can get one on ebay for around $300, which seems reasonable. Thanks in advance for your posts.
