  1. You are so right. I left a little red gem go into the wild...it made it to 2 caches before it was reported as MIA with only the pouch left behind as evidence. It was last spotted in "Choo Choo TB Exchange" cache. It is too bad as they really are quite beautiful and unique. I love the different colors and shapes.
  2. Thanks for the response. It has been helpful. Sorry for duplicate multiple posts. Computer was slow and I was impatient.
  3. I just purchased a Garmin 400t. Can anyone tell me how to locate the distance to the cache once I have tapped geocaches (on the main screen), and then tap Go? I get the route but can not find the distance to the cache from this screen.
  4. Thank you this is very helpful!! You people are a great bunch!!
  5. I am a very detailed oriented person and I am relatively new to geochaching. I just ordered a Garmin Oregon 400t. I personally liked the ease of use and the touch screen instead of toggles. I know it is capable of paperless caching. Is there a step by step quide to downloading the caches into the device? If I missed it on this forum I am sorry. What about deleting past waypoints. It has not yet arrived so am unable to do a hands on (just want to be prepared when it arrives )Thanks!!
  6. I hate to sound stupid but, Is the only difference between the Colorado 300 & 400 the North American maps and Topo maps? Is there a difference between them when geochaching?
  7. Thanks for the info SD Mark. I will bookmark this and try again
  8. When was this offered and for how long? I missed it
  9. We are new to Geocaching and wish to purchase a GPS. I am wondering what is the easiest unit to use and the most user friendly, with the best performance. We want to spend time caching...not becoming frustrated with a new unit that is difficult to use. The Delorme PN-40 sound interesting but I understand it has a steep learning curve. The Colorado seems like a good unit but my understanding is you have to buy a good share of extras if you want to play, such as maps. Can anyone explain these issues to us? Thanks for any help.
  10. my family is looking for a new unit to buy. We have narrowed out search down to 2 units. The Garmin 60CSx and the DeLORME PN40. We are interested in Geocaching and fishing. I know the Garmin unit can do both. Have heard very little on the PN-40 and lake maps. Does anyone have knowlegde of the PN-40 preformance for fishing?
  11. Thanks for all the replies. I would never claim this beautiful coin as my own. I can see alot of thought and effort went into designing this coin I rescued this coin from a muggled cache thrown about the grass. I am only able to cache on weekends. The weather is going to change and I thought to help move it along, I could place it in the cache. After reading the posts i have decided to move it to a favorite cache I have found in the past. Thanks for all the advice for a newbie. Caching is such a great hobbie and to keep it that way, I want to learn the right way so we all can enjoy
  12. I am wondering, as far as cache etiquette goes, is it acceptable to place a found geocoin into ones own hidden cache to allow it to move on? Thanks for all the help for us newbies
