  1. It typically gets chilly at night and usually shorts are not worn much after labor day. I plan on packing layers (long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts) along with a lightweight coat. I wear shorts well into October. usually just throw a sweatshirt on at night. I like the chill. I just called someone I know who's cousin works for a local landscaper who's babysitters aunt's neighbor knows a guy who went to school for weather predicting and he said Sunday October 12th will be Party Cloudy with a high of 68 degrees and a low of 53 degrees with a 30% chance of scattered rain showers. I hope that helps.
  2. I want a good product in a reasonable amount of time for a fair price. I am tired of seeing the new coin vendor here today with his $12 coins only to be gone tomorrow.
  3. You didn't goof up. There is only one registration for you there. You might have it confused with something else. There is not a list posted of who is attending, other than the standard will attends on the cache page.
  4. Groundspeak was the one that asked for the name and icon change otherwise it would still stand as it was in the beginning. Yes that's true but until I was contacted by GS I had not received one single complaint about the coin I had actually gotten a few compliments in the comments section of some orders. I still have yet to receive one email complaining about the coin. So up until GS got a hold of me I had no idea that anyone was offended by the coin. Apparently GC is getting a bunch of them to actually come to you and make you change the icon and name of the coin. I doubt they would do that over just a few complaints. I would bet there are way more people making complaints than are posting here, and would even bet the ones discussing it aren't even the ones writing GC. Seems to happen that way.
  5. Bad apple? Really wow! I wasn't trying to "sneak" anything through, when GS asked me a few questions about the coin I answered them 100% honestly I am not a fool I would never attempt to "sneak" something past GS how would that be good for my business? I thought the coin would be funny and people would get a laugh, some did some did not. Actually the bad apple reference wasn't directed at you but rather the artist who based on your words, must have taken it upon themselves to push the envelope with your design and see what they could get past GC. Seems now you are sadly caught in the middle.
  6. I see your point and take it. I showed my wife the image and she didn't see anything. That being said, it doesn't change what I see anymore than I am going to try to convinvce her or something I see. It's perception. I mean obviously someone went through some efforts to skirt the line as much as possible. I didn't expect GC to catch this because honestly, I wouldn't have figured someone would feel the need to try to push it through. I guess it's just another thing they are going to have to start clapming down on ALL coin designs. Another case of one bad apple...
  7. Might I suggest a well ripened banana for the icon, only because it matches the Yellow Etrex of course.
  8. Just to play devils advocate here...Is this what we want to base approval here on? Whether or not someone is clever enough to put something on a coin in a way that kids can't tell? Just asking.
  9. Ok so maybe it wasn't your intent and maybe you didn't even pick up on the whole hidden object and completely missed the references which were pretty blantant to quite a few others. Regardless of all that, it is what it is and many people who haven't spoken to each other are all coming to the same conclusions. I seriously doubt that is some conspiracy. Maybe taking a step back to listen to what people are saying would be a better avenue than coming in guns blazing in defense. I knew nothing of the coin, who was behind it or designed it or anything else before today. I now know who is behind the coin, and have nothing personal with you now or before, so I don't think the bandwagon or doesn't like me defense will work with my opinion. I still am unaware of who designed it, but maybe that is where the problem lies since you state you didn't see anything there. Maybe your artist is the one trying to slide this past GC. Maybe they tweaked your idea to their way of thinking and have some dumb vendetta with GC or something. I don't think GC is to blame for passing this through approval since they probably aren't looking for these things, until now. I mean who in their right mind tried to pull this in a family environment? Regardless of your views, sides, likes, or dislikes, there are way too many people seeing the same things to pretend it doesn't exist. I am sure GC will pretend it doesn't exist because they approved it and can't afford to admit there is something there. For the rest of us who don't have a stake in this coin, we can be objectionable and state what we all clearly see.
  10. To sign up please visit here and see all the rules. We look forward to another successful event with our great hosts the geocoin Club and Pete from TMA.
  11. If the coins were labeled clearly as event only pick up and no shipping, then you really have no recourse. Most large events do this because they stand to lose money if people buy coins, then "can't make it" and want the coins shipped. Since most events are ran by a group of indiciduals and not a company, they can't afford to ship coins or anything else out later. If you got a response from someone saying they would ship your coins for $5 thats one thing and good luck with that. Not sure why they are calling it a donation though. It would clearly be shipping and handling fees. That is who you need to contact about it though.
  12. I beg to differ about this. No where on this keyboard is there an "A" for your way of typing.
  13. If this is the case then I would agree. Anything other than that is just being impatient and not allowing a fellow cacher to finish their logs in a reasonable amount of time. I did this early on with a green jeep. I grabbed it from the cache and hurried home to log it and the cache. I saw it wasn't in the cache so I grabbed it from the holder. He was a little upset that I didn't give him a chance to log it. Looking back on it I was impatient and could have waited a few hours or even a couple days. It wasn't going anywhere.
  14. I would wait to log the coin from the cache. If you grab it from the current holder, the coin will never pass through the cache and it's mileage will be screweed up as well as the accuracy of the logs. Give them a few days to log it. If they were on vacation or something, it might be a few days. I know I don't log my caches the quickest, but I at least try to log the ones that I either took or moved a TB quickly. Theres no hurry since the smiley counts the same tomorrow as it does today.
  15. I thought I was the only one with this issue. Paula you allowed one of your MODs to log in under my name and pretened to be me all the while knowing I had never been in that chat before and never went in afterwards. You can say you weren't aware of this, but since you logged every chat session and saved and read everyones PMs, yeah I bet alot of people thought private message actually meant private message not private except for Paula to read, so where does your ethics stand?
  16. Give us a break. You have ability, but you always seem to be taking an angle or short cut to make the quick buck and throwing your skills aside. You took the Lady Luck, threw a GPS in her hand and pretended it was something new and your idea. You even tried to defend those actions claiming it was new art like we were too stupid to see the what you did. I could go on with other designs you have done, but it's a waste of my time becasue you refuse to own up to anything. Get a grip on reality and stop trying to defend your actions. For once stand up like a responsible buisness owner and own up to what you have done to people and what you continue to do.
  17. You are absolutely right. I wasn't there and didn't hear a word said any more than you were on the phone during any of these design discussion by any of these people. The difference is, I am making my comments based on what you said trasnpired, not on hear say. So anything goes as long as the coin sells well? I don't really think that's what we should be teaching our kids now is it? I know if my kids behaved in this manner, it would be more than a stern talking from me they would get. I surely wouldn't be in here trying to defend their actions like they were some kind of saint that is just misunderstood. I agree there are two sides to a story. Sometimes even three. But you really should heed your own medicine here before trying to dose it out. You only know one side of the story, unless of course you were eaves dropping on the phone for each and every one of these conversations. We all know there are bad apples out there. No one wants to think their kid is the bad apple though, but guess what. They have moms too. And I am sure they were probably the last ones to realize their kid was the bad apple. Nothing against you. I feel sorry you have to see this kind of stuff, but when it comes to a buisness doing bad practice with people, it needs addressed. I don't remember bringing that up, but since you want to open that door, yeah quite a few people think you are nothing more than a sock of Paula's. I have given you the benefit of the doubt by playing along with you and treating you like a seperate person who is in fact her mother. Say what you will, but when the sock fits...
  18. Seeing that you only got one side of the story, that of which is a close family member, I seriously doubt you could even try to be objective in this situation. I mean the only time any of us have ever seen you in here, you are either defending Paula, praising Paula, or bumping her sales threads. It's almost like you are her alter ego rather than mother, and honestly most wonder which is true. The two coins are very similar and if one was being worked on for a year prior to the commissioned artwork, then yes the designer should have said something and not allowed a client to blindly create a coin that may or may not sell based on that. The fact that it sold well does not change it. Had the coin not sold, would your story be any different? People that have been treated poorly by any company are not going to be grateful. Not sure why you are missing this. This thread is full of alot of people who are ungrateful as you call it, but each has a similar experience and rightfully is upset. This should go to show the level of character Joni has shown throughout this ordeal. Even though she has been wronged like so many by your daughter, she still kept her head high and took the high road. She easily could have started a "whisper campaign" or bad mouthed Paula at ever turn, but she didn't. She took it like an adult and carried on. Had so many other not had come forward with very similar situations, I doubt any of us would have known what happened on this coin. I for one don't know how she continued to show such self control in a situation where she was shown no respect and was completed taken advantage of. Maybe it is time for Mom to sit daughter down and see what's really going on. I know if my kids were doing this kid of stuff, and I was an involved parent, I would try to get them back on the road to respecting others and being a legit buisness without all the shady dealings. Maybe she will listen to your motherly words, because she doesn't seem to be hearing what the community is saying. I know it's a little too late for some, and way too late for others, but do you realie she hasn't even taken the first baby step to appoligize to any of these people for her actions? She has just asked to be left alone to continue doing what she wants to do, which is more coins! She just isn't getting it Mom, but maybe you can help her see some light. Good luck.
  19. Have you tried the standard pirate activation code yet? That would be RRRRRRR! It is best used while curling one side of your mouth and wearing a rag upon your head. Not sure if it will work, but give it a shot matey.
  20. What is the size of these again?
  21. While I praise your friendship and undying loyalty to them, both are commendable from a friends perspective, sometimes people need to take a step back and look at the whole picture. There is a ton of smoke coming from a whole mess of fires. Paula's design records of late looks more like a map of the California wildfires than anything I have seen here before. I know you will defend them to then end, but the facts are the facts and they speak volumes more than a your personal friend account of how you have been treated and how you feel towards them. I honestly don't think theres much they could do wrong that would persuade you into not supporting them. Not a dis at you, but just an honest view from the other side.
  22. When a company leaves a bad taste in your mouth, do you continue to buy from them? Noone is challenging the quality of coins, obviously since most people use the same mint. the problem is people have been paying for something and not even getting the art. This has nothing to do with their shipping or anything else you posted above. What they have gone through? How about what they have put people through? You seem to read their posts much differently than most of the people here have. I, along with most, have seen no remorse or appolgy. I have seen Paula come in and pat herself on her back for the way she designs, the creativity of her art, the wonderful coins she delivers, etc etc etc. Not once have I seen her step up to the plate and appoligize for taking people's money and not delivering and not even communicating with these people. You had a good experience. Congrats on that. But as you can clearly see, there is a whole other side to the coin that you probably weren't aware of. Your good experience doesn't make it any easier for these people to swallow what they have gone through and surely doesn't take make it better for them. I don't think you can state anything about far outweighing the number of bad experiences. Until 3 days ago you would have thought there was not one single story like we have seen, so that is a very unfounded statement to make. I personally know of several others who just are too timid, or whatever the case may be, to come out in the public about it. And they shouldn't use that as an excuse anymore than you should try to give them one. We all have things to go through in life. The difference is, they are a buisness that is taking people's money and not delivering. While it is nice of you to try to defend a friend, it is completely out of place. The facts are what they are, and sugar coating it and making weak excuses doesn't help. The one thing that stands out to me is the lack of character. When you screw up, you admit it. You try to make it right to the best of your abilities, but the first thing you do is say you are sorry. I haven't seen anything of the sorts. I have seen arrogance above and beyond what I would expect in a situation like this. I have seen someone standing up claiming to be a great designer and boasting about their buisness. These aren't the actions of someone who is sorry about what they did. These are the actions of someone who doesn't care and just wants to move on to the next design. I'm sorry but your post is way off as to what the reality is going here.
  23. Exactly how long did it take you to place a GPS in the hands of the Lady Luck since it was already someone else's art to begin with? You can't make claims that you won't rush a job and you only can design when your creative juices are flowing, then take someone else's art and make the most minor of additions, claim it as your own, then rush the job to mint. Then turn around anytime you are short on cash, and mint the coin again. Shamelessly bumping your own thread day after day is a clear indicator that it's not selling up to par. The bottom line is when you take someone's money for a job, you are telling them you will be able to complete it. Maybe you are better off not taking any money upfront and telling them you will contact them when you are insipred since this seems to be your fall back excuse for not being able to deliver what you promised and were paid for.
  24. Partial refund? So which part of the art are you getting and which side of the coin will you get as partial job completion? I would think after a year and no artwork completed you would get a full refund.
