  1. Back in August of 2004 I found Sweet Nostrils for the first time. This past weekend I found it again 573 days, 21 stops, and 3380 miles later. Has that ever happened to you?
  2. After giving this a lot of thought I have adopted the following policy for how I log things. For travel bugs I only log them if I move them. The exception being a jeep since those are harder to find. I'll log one of those without moving it and leave it behind for the next cacher to enjoy. For coins I have to at least touch the coin before logging it. At the recent geocoin introduction event I met ParentsofSAM and she provided me with a print out of all of her coins she had at the event. Since I did look through her coin collection I did log each one that was on her list. I also saw a Moun10Bike coin that I plan to log as well. I figure that not as many coins are being released into caches so if I at least see it at an event or elsewhere then I should be able to log it. I plan to release replicas of each of the geocoins I have so that others can enjoy them as well.
  3. Since Velvet is located in Reading, PA you may have luck posting a note in the north east regional forum. Also, you might trying emailing the geocacher Onemadfool He did some Geocaching with Velvet in the past. They found Frog City together. Good Luck!
  4. Both of mine have the mistake. I'm keepin' 'em
  5. I try to read missions before I go to the cache so I know if I want to take the TB or not. I really wish Groundspeak would create a GPX file for TBs that included mission information. When out in the field if I find a TB without a tag on it I'll take it. When I get home and read its mission and find I've moved it in the wrong direction I make sure to include in my log that I found it without a mission sheet and offer to print one out and include it with the TB so it will get moving in the right direction. Unless I release a TB that simply wants to travel I make sure to laminate a mission sheet and attach it before releasing it.
  6. We only thought you were nuts because we didn't have the problem . It happened to me over the weekend so I had to do the double retrieve to get the bug off of the cache page.
  7. There does seem to be a lack of movement. It seems TBs are being placed into caches and then sitting there for extended periods of time. I'm doing my part as well by releasing new TBs and replicas of geocoins I've bought. It does seem that my TBs with specific missions move better than those that just want to travel which seems really odd to me.
  8. If the cache owner does say it's OK to hold onto it that long take the TB with you when you go caching and drop it and retrieve it from a cache every once in a while just to let it move around. These TBs get restless sitting around
  9. Dang! I really, really wanted two. One for my wife who is retired from the Air Force and one for me (12 year Air Force Vet). If you do produce more I want at least two.
  10. I was down in Melbourne, FL recently and drove past a 1/1 micro so I stopped. As soon as I stepped out of the car I saw the cache. It was by far my easiest find ever.
  11. Own now: GPSMap 60C, StreetPilot 2610 Used to own: EMap
  12. The recalc button only shows up for the TB owner to click . It does seem to take longer for mileage to get updated now. I think Groundspeak updates it every so often instead of as soon as a TB is logged. Give it a day and then check the page to see if it has been updated or not.
  13. We have a cache here in Georgia that's an ammo can that's pretty much filled with pennies. It's quite heavy! I have seen change and small bills in caches before and have even left a buck or two if there was something that I really wanted and didn't have anything I felt was an even trade item.
  14. I saw that you're going to the coin event in Atlanta tomorrow. Do you want to just bring mine up there so you don't have to mail 'em?
  15. They probably shot it because they didn't know the combination
  16. While I'm sure some of these don't exist I'll post anyway. I don't have anything to trade (yet) but I do have $$$ in Paypal . I'm looking for unactivated, GC.com trackable coins from the following states. Maryland North Carolina (I know AG has one on Ebay that I'm watching) Colorado Texas Alaska Email me with your price and paypal info if you have a extra you want to part with.
  17. Groundspeak should set up some scripts that check to see how long a cache has been disabled. After 60 days email the owner, after 90 days assign to local reviewer to determine status and after 120 days archive the cache. One big flaw to this is automatic archiving would result in a lot of geo litter I do realize some caches are disabled for extended periods of time (during hunting season for example) and those could be flagged as exceptions to the rule. Under normal circumstances there should be no reason why a cache owner couldn't resolve the issue in 60 days or less.
  18. Yes, absolutely you can do that. I drop my personal traveling coin into each cache I've found and then retrieve it. It does generate a lot of email but I just have a filter to delete those emails when they arrive
  19. Just to add to what the Geocacheologist said - be sure to include the 6-digit tracking number in your email to contact@Groundspeak.com. Also include your geocache username as well.
  20. I ordered 2. I especially like the gator on the back of the coin.
  21. I think about geocaching way more than I care to admit.
  22. Yes, I like that as well. I try to check the actual cache page before going out to hunt for the cache just to see what bugs are still in the cache and what new bugs may have been added since I last checked the page.
  23. Yes, though I was considering a small round one that read something like "This TB was moved by ZackJones" or whatever would fit on the tag.
  24. I don't think that just any cacher should have the abilty to mark a TB as missing. Perhaps Groundspeak could create a TB Mover (Junkie??) account type that could perform this sort of function. I would be happy to keep TB listings on cache pages for my state (Georgia) current. I've tried emailing and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I just know how disappointed I feel when I travel to a specific cache in search of a TB only to find it's no longer there
  25. I'd drill a hole in it, attach a TB tag and then send it to one of the stargates for transport
