  1. I'm just the opposite. No tag = fair game. If I find I've moved it in the wrong direction I try to get it moving in the right direction but I don't worry about it. At least it is moving.
  2. Silver Dragon Placed in a cache on 9/16/2002, placed in TB Graveyard 10/29/2002, grabbed because the original cache was found with TB still inside on 3/4/2006. WOW!
  3. Thanks MissJenn. So I called the local parks department this morning and would you believe I was basically told Thanks, but no thanks. Apparantly our parks department have people that are responsible for keeping the parks clean (they're doing a lousy job!) and they would be happy to rent us a pavillon at the park if we wanted to have our event but there was no need to clean up the park. I'm tempted to rent the pavillon, do the park clean up complete with photos of all trash bags we fill, and then provide a before and after photo album to the parks department director. Never in a million years was I expecting to hear no to my request.
  4. Try this folks - if you're the TB owner click on the recalc mileage button. If that doesn't do it then post the TBXXXX number here and we'll provide the list to Raine or Jeremy to check out.
  5. I have bookmarked your bookmark . Excellent idea. I'll check the hotels around me and see if any of them have restrictions.
  6. I have been making replicas of the coins I want to release and have been putting those out. Here's a sample: I will be doing this with most all of the coins I've activated. The only one I've been thinking about keeping is my skirtlifter coin. If you want to log it you have to ask me to lift my skirt
  7. I've been running the latest beta versions on my 60C and it has been working just fine for me.
  8. I think your list is a great idea but I really don't want to join the forum just to add my contribution so I'll post it here for you. I have either found the caches listed below or know they are in rest areas or are RV/trucker friendly GCGH9R - Gotta Go South GCRX33 - The Sci Fi Cache GCM5HM - Honey, Can We Stop Now?!?!? The list below I can't verify but they did contain the words "rest area" when I searched my GSAK database. Please verify that these caches are still active before adding 'em to the list. GCGE9N - Gotta Go North GCNCYF - Airborne FLS GCNCYQ - Airborne Drop Zone GCGZFP - Gotta Go West GCMCCX - Bugs 'n Peaches Welcome You! GCHO13 - I-95 Book On Tape Exchange - North GCHB1C - take a break GCT6OX - I-10 East/West Travel Bug Hotel
  9. I will be talking with the local parks and recreation folks today about a CITO event at one of our local parks. I was wondering what, if anything, does Groundspeak provide for CITO events. For example if we're having an event can we request some free CITO trashbags, etc?
  10. I use the owner maintenance log. I like the Green and White Plus sign
  11. I have a solution. Create a pinned topic in each of the regional forums and everytime a cache is archived a new post is automagically added to that pinned topic showing the GCXXXX code and date the cache was archived. There's no need to create a PQ of archived caches, which Groundspeak has made it clear they will not do and those of us that happen to maintian lists of caches offline can keep our lists current.
  12. I have emailed a link to this thread to the info address posted above.
  13. First off I think any rule/policy that says to not take a TB if there are less than X TBs in a cache is stupid and I would ignore it. <rest of log post on why I wouldn't have taken all 4 of them deleted.> TBs are meant to travel and you're helping them travel. Cache on.
  14. Beffums: Thanks for posting the link for the TB Mission Cards. I'm going to use some of those for the next TBs I release.
  15. Would you care to elaborate on why GSAK encourages us to use stale data? I can see how data can get stale for archived caches only but it's quite easy to keep GSAK current with two PQ's per week. I would also be interested to find out more about the algorithms that could help us keep GSAK current.
  16. Swell our corporate porn/spam/bad web site filter wouldn't let me view it. Now I'll have to answer to the IT police
  17. I ordered one for my son since he was born in England. He'll get a kick out of it.
  18. My first and last Signal coins arrived today. Fortunately my wife and daughter have birthdays in January so I activated and gave the coins to them. I would have rather spent that $20 on two more BikeDog coins.
  19. At least the listing person is honest in saying that's it's not a real jeep travel bug.
  20. Email 'em now - just be very nice in your email. Explain that TBs are meant to move from cache to cache and they are not normal trade items, etc.
  21. I carry one as well even though I'm not very good using it. Usually by the time we get to the cache area and I take a reading, adjust the compass and start looking I hear "Found It!" from my wife Something else I'm doing before any hunt where it's more than a couple hundred feet from the car to the cache is marking a waypoint for the car. Last week we went a short 3/10 of a mile away from car to cache and I'm so glad I had the waypoint. Without it we would have been lost for sure.
  22. The cops I've dealt with were really cool about it all. In fact after everything checked out I gave one of the cops my GPS and we set out on the cache hunt. When we found the cache I made sure to point out entries in the log book that dated back 2 or 3 years so they would know the cache had been out there for quite a while.
  23. Is the muggled cache location anywhere near you? If so you might want to travel to it and search the surrounding area to see if by chance you could find your TB or others on the ground. If it isn't close then I'm with BlueDuce, give it a month and then release another one.
  24. I don't recall any other time when so many missing travel bugs have shown up and started moving again. Eariler this month my Take me to Camden TB started moving again. Last night I received a log that my Knee Puck TB was found in New York. I contacted the finder and he confirmed that he found the original not the copy that I recently re-released. For those of you that have TBs missing don't give up hope!
