  1. I was on vacation in England during 1st week of July 2001 with Jan. We decided to visit Hampton Courts where Henry lived for a bit[]. Went inside the gift shop there. As I was looking for something to take home, Jan picked up a jar of The Devil's Mustard, turned to me and smiled as she said" From now on I am calling you Mustard Devil!" No idea why cause I'm a angel
  2. All the mud is gone now, rain here in Glasgow got most of it and the wash machine got the rest
  3. I will be in Edinburgh this next weekend if anyone wants to join me, email me if anyone is interested
  4. Congrats from Afghanistan John Ill buy you a pint when I get to Bute!
  5. Congrats to both Pooter and Firth of Forth Looking forward to meeting you on Bute
  6. Due to my livng and working near Kabul I can only go caching every 4 months or so when my R&R time comes. Going to Scotland in April
  7. Camp Phoenix is just a few kilometers east of Kabul.
  8. And I thought I was the only geocacher in this part of the world If anyone makes it to Camp Phoenix, look for me at the DFAC. I'll be here untill late August.
  9. There are a few 100 soum notes I've left in London area micro's, you would have to go to Uzbekistan to get those though! I've seen small stickers placed in micros back home in the states.
  10. I am too tired tonight to go but if anyone wants to meet up and go caching this weekend let me know, I will check email early in the morn!
  11. Would love a mini-event The weekend of January 15th and 16th would be best.
  12. I will be in London from January 12th to the 21st on a much needed R&R and caching vacation. Hoping to meet some UK cachers!
  13. Congrats from a cacher working in Afghanistan
  14. Just to let all know, Im a food service worker in the Camp Phoenix DFAC, about 6 kilometers east of Kabul. Snoogans, I will log those bugs as soon as I get to England and go caching. They will most likely be placed in a West Yorkshire cache. THANKS for all the posts and comments "Friends are family you make for yourself"
  15. Even if I could get outside Camp Phoenix I wouldnt go! Afghanistan being the most heavily mined country in the world. I want to keep my short stumpy arms and legs all in the same place and attached to my body! Going to England January 7th for R&R and I intend to go caching in the London area and in West Yorkshire too. Will claim finds for the Southeast Texas cachers and for all my caching friends in MTGC.
  16. I'm relatively safe from recieving any travel bugs or dirty golfballs here at Camp Phoenix which is located about 6 kilometers east of Kabul, Afghanistan. But send away it anyone wants to! Any packages from home are greatly appreciated
  17. carleenp also holds the record for the most dirty golfballs found at an event
  18. I like the idea! Would give me something to look at here in Bagram, Afghanistan
  19. I am finally working here at Bagram! Got placed in Viper Defac(mess hall) Dont have any rank, Mudfrog. Am working for KBR here. Coffee time now!
  20. Well the flights were long slow and boring but I made it I am in Tashkent, Uzbekistan at the Meridian hotel waiting for a flight to the proccessing center. My pay started yesterday and I aint even working yet! This is my kind of job I checked the distance with my trusty Garmin and its 7437 miles from my home in Houston to the hotel here. The weather is mild compared to Houston and almost no humidity. I have already learned how to say thank you and youre welcome in Russian, just cant spell the words! The locals Ive met are very friendly and helpful. One young lady says most who come here dont even try to learn the language. Bye for now!
  21. My departure details are now final. I leave Houston 8/11/04. Houston-Paris-Tashkent-Bagram. Found out there is a cache inside Bagram so I will have at least one find there[]
  22. The phone based GPSr's I've seen in the US are not accurate enough for geocaching.
  23. "Mom, I didn't steal this C-4, I found it in a geocache this morning!"
  24. I could place a micro somewhere in the camp I'll be in, something tells me an ammo can wouldn't be a real smart idea!
  25. I have accepted a position with KBR as a food service worker in beautiful, sunny Afghanistan(have to pass the background check!) May even work with an HVAC crew after I get in country! Only one cache listed there and its too far away Will be confined to living and work areas so no caching untill R&R time so look out Europe, here I come! I will post updates here when I can.
