  1. FIgured there was a good reason there was not already one placed there Thanks
  2. I would love to have some suggestions, if anyone has one... I am planning on summiting my local mountain (Mt Hood: 11,235) Obviously not an easy cache to place as it would be buried in the snow. I want something that is durable up top, but not sure how to place it. The lookout tower at the top no longer remains. . . Any help appreciated!
  3. I would like to see a share button (facebook) added to your log entry page so our friends can see what were finding and maybe get interested in geocaching.
  4. There used to be a thread on here about evil caches. Thats actually what im trying to find right now, and came across this post. I saw some pretty neat caches (including large leaves with pockets on the back of them, etc) and some pretty neat ideas. One person even paid for an 800 number for cachers to call as a leg of the multicache. Fun fun
  5. The location I want to hide this geocache is hard to describe. Basically, there are big holes in the rocks where the river barely covers the top. I want to put a geocache in there (about 2 feet down), but it has be be extremely waterproof, but be able to sink to the bottom, and not just float there. Anyone have good container suggestions? Thanks,
  6. I had the neatest log entry on one of my caches today. GC1CJDC Well, it was from last week. Someone proposed to his girlfriend and she said yes. The funniest things happen with Geocaching.
  7. I am interested in placing my first night cache. Maybe this isn't the best idea, (my personal idea I think is great) because I have never even been on a night cache of someone elses. I have a basic idea, but im not sure how im going to make it work. The location is a soccer field/jogging track in the back of an elementary school (figured it will be OK since it is a night cache). I want people to be able to follow reflectors? around to draw a design on their GPS. Also, it directs them to the final location at the end of their little walk. There aren't a lot of trees to tie reflectors etc to, so I thought of putting down rocks with reflector paint, but don't want their lawnmowers to get wrecked. They don't mow 12 months out of the year tho. Can you guys share some of your night cache experiences and maybe give some hints on this one I want to place. Thanks!
  8. I was on a hike the other day at a state park here in Oregon when I came across this. It is set into the ground, and about a hundred yards to the east there is another marker just like this, but the arrow points west. I wonder if they mark something to do with the railroad too, since about 30 feet north of these markers are UP RR tracks. Anyone know?
  9. Oregon is beautiful this time of year too!
  10. Oregon is beautiful this time of year too!
  11. Exactly! There is a guy around here that anytime you hunt a cache of his and it is a micro, you know just to go direcly to the nearest fire hydrant (is that even legal?)
  12. I am not a Premium member, but I think I do know you can search for caches and unselect micros. Don't think anyone is going to hide an ammo can on a telephone booth.
  13. Here in OR we have a generous variety. There are definately our share of lightposts and guardrails, but there are also fun and unique caches that bring you to some pretty spectacular places. When I myself place a cache, it may just be a "lame" micro, but I didn't put it there necessarily for swag, but to experience some odd/funny/beautiful location.
  14. My favorite hide had to be archived before it was ever found I thought this was hilarous when I drove by, but when other people could not find it, I discovered someone came through and chopped it down. GC1CBN8
  15. Not my hide, but one of the coolest things I read about was a guy who set up the first set of coord at a payphone, with an 1-800 # he had set up with a recording of the second set of coords. He said it was relatively cheap to set up and maintain (less than $10 a month).
  16. A good writting untensil and dry log book!!! (Pretty simple I guess...I really don't want too much) EVen easier, ill bring my own pen, just have a dry log book!
  17. I can just see this on a quick trip down south; Border patrol: License and registration please. Mrs SaxMan: Omagod we left stash at the reststop!!!! Border Patrol: Please step out of the car. Mr SaxMan: No wait she's talking about the dog. Border Patrol:(drawing pistola) Sir please step out of the car! ................................................
  18. LOL, we call our dog "treat" when he isn't listening and we want him to come.
  19. I followed the other thread and have to put in my vote for my ultimate favorite (were naming a female right?) MAGGIE, short for Magellan.
  20. If you were to choose a song that was sort of a theme song for geocaching, what would it be? The reason I ask is I like to make little movies of my best geocache finds, and dub music to them. I thought it might be fun to as you guys what song would come to your mind, if any.
  21. I had a lab/pitbull mix named Bailey. She was crazy, but I loved her. Lost her a year ago this month. Bailey is a good name.
  22. This is Conrad, my 95# swimming, geocaching, loveable black lab and german shepherd mix, but mostly a lap dog! Conrad will be one year next month. He LOVES geocaching, especially if we go near water. Unfortunately there are a few caches around with parks that don't allow dogs, and of course those freeway intersections, on those he stays home and pretends to guard the place
  23. cute! now i want to rename my dog! lol
  24. Well, I considered the car the attraction. I will probably use one of these ideas to bring them near.
  25. Awww, im sorry for your loss. I lost a dog a year ago this month. I now have a great 11 month old lab/german shepherd mix. He is the ultimate geopup! Loves hiking, the water, goes on all dog friendly aches with me. Ummm, ok, back to your question. I started with meanings of names before I found a name. Good luck, let us know what you decide!
