  1. The same GPSr I use. Great Item, I have had no problems with it, well apart from no maps on it. For a starter one it is great, does the job perfectly. Welcome to the great world of geocaching ! !

  5. A few of us went caching after work. Got to GZ a long muddy path with rocks now and again. We were hunting around when I noticed a dog running around. By the time I had turned around one of my friends had walked upto the muggle and said to her "It's there afternoon out, and they like hunting for worms so don't worry to much about them". She seemed to buy that one, especially when she walked past me and I was sat on a rock head in hands trying not to laugh, with the cache open in front of me.
  6. Thanks Bluedeuce for that. I am dreading going through 100+. I shall do it over the space of a few nights though. Just hope they do something with regards to dipping though. Happy caching
  7. I am thinking about getting a 'Dipping' Coin shortly, what the etiquette of it as I want to use it for caching miles, also a nice personal coin. Could I dip the coin in caches that I have done from the start, or just from when I receive the coin ? Sorry about the jump in on the post

  9. Some really fun one's, the guys at work had some fun one these. Thanks for the competition, and my 1st ever coin.
  10. Sorry (Newbie alert at buying coins) I want to buy some coins to set out into the open, however there is not a massive range (What I can see), just wondering where is the best place to buy coins, that ship to the UK. Sorry if it has been asked before, also sorry if I cannot see the wood for the trees. I would like a shop that sells a nice range of coins, some standard also some strange one's. Many Thanks Andyfee
  11. I agree with Hampshire hog, premium membership, also get hold of GSAK (google it). You can do so much with both.
  12. I know of two female cachers in this area. One is a newbie and is getting on well with it all. Another I have found out has had a fair few finds but does not use a GPSr.
  13. I would of thought he/she would have left it open as it is a massive milestone (1st in the uk to hit 7000), and this is a UK part of the forum. Very heavy regulating, also I would of thought they may have moved it instead of closing it. Bless em heavy handed mods.
  14. Etrex H, does the job. Very accurate, got a fair few FTF's with it. I have been out with a few people and sorry to say but my etrex h does the job, better than others. For £70 its great. I want to upgrade but my etrex H just does the job so well. BTW a serial cable is a must.
  15. I have just done a nice urban multi. I must have looked a right strange one. I tend to try and park near with the boot up on the car, pretending to be broken down, and then on the phone asking for assistance. Looks a bit strange when i have found the cache signed the log, still pretending to be on the phone, hang up and then drive off. Just have to look at people and see if they are interested in what you are doing,99% of the time they are not. It's all part of the fun I find. Saying that I have had an experience getting muggled doing the above and someone asked me if I wanted help with the car. Just nice that there is a slight fault with cache car one that I can play on. Oh why does my car go wrong and not the family car ! ! !
  16. I have only placed 10 caches, and have been worried about one of them, that was only when I was alerted to have a look because people are dumping rubbish. I have tended to scout the area prior to placing the cache, to see the type of person (sorry being stereotypical now), and to see what they are doing. The best thing to do is have a look at the area, and to look what type of people use it. If there is rubbish around move on a little, if there is dog walkers needs a nice little hide. Takes a little while but you will get there. I have a nice cache in a busy area, outside one of the main entrance/exits to Longleat also it outside a public house, the whole area is muggle central. That is my most hit cache so far. Hope all goes well with your next placed cache
  17. I agree forget the family. 22:00 and a new cache comes up 20 miles away in the middle of a field, mmmmm boots on out the door before the wife says "How long are you going to be?" Sorry to say my saddest FTF was. Friday night 2200 one came up which I left as it was a bit of a trek along fields, however 2230 another came up 100 meters away from a road, I did do that one, even though it was 15 miles away. Now for the sad part......... I left the laptop on, set to the page of the 2200 cache, and set the alarm for 0600. Low and behold when I woke up the 2200 was not found. So went out and got another FTF. Thing is the wife phoned whilst doing that cache, in the middle of a dark wood, with dawn an hour away. Lets just say I was a little shook up. FTF's are great, even better at night ! ! !

    New Cache

What #3 said, if not then keep an eye on the local caches in your area any new not found go for it. I have been lucky a few times, yet missed a few. The premium membership is good for notifications, not to expensive either.
  19. Thank you Blorenges I have sent a message to the owner now. BTW Lozenge rhymes with orange, sorry.
  20. 1, Pugh, Hugh 2, Barney McGrew 3, Cuthbert 4, Dibble 5, Grubb
  21. I have killed mine off now(using it for something else now), shame really that Local forums don't really catch on. I shall be going to some meets this year, put some names to faces and to logs.
  22. Hello all, Just recently I have found a cache that is in need of work doing to it. Several people have asked for this cache to be looked at, but nothing has been done for a few months. Looking at the cachers details for this cache he/she has just let other caches just get archived away and not kept up maintaining them. What is the etiquette for asking if the owner of the cache would like to put a cache up for adoption ? Sorry I am a newbie, well since Sept 08. Thanks for reading.
  23. Yeay Just hit my 100th today, nice difficult cache as well. Planned this one fro my 100th, even though 2 possible FTF's came up, last night. Heres to another 100. Andyfee
