  6. young river is a very nice place. Why travel so far though? There are many trails in the Gorge area. My favorites are Horsetail and Bridal Veil Falls. Up in Mt. Hood there are all sort of areas around Wildcat road that take you to hidden lakes and such I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.

It's just my geocaching list; I have others that are personal. (In case you thought that this IS my life.) + Do much more Trash Out.+ Write more in the log books.+ Choose a signature item soon and start using it.+ Post the next "Mission: Impossible" geocache ASAP.+ Think twice, then once again, before posting a reply in the forums. Feel free to post your own! Happy New Year to all. Let's have a great one! - Seth! http://www.geocachingwa.org I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. 8. 1) I plan on placing a different type of cache 2) I also am going to go after more 3 and above caches. More quality than quantity this year, like day trips and overnighting trips. I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.
  9. Besides what insurances pay out to injuries. Imagine this accident in a small car http://www.sanzones.com/truckwreck.htm quote:Originally posted by bigeddy: quote:Originally posted by oregone:A mileage tax is a stupid idea. Why charge someone like me that gets 45 mpg the same as joe ford expulsion that gets 13 mpg? Doesn't seem fair for those of us that have made the concious decision to drive an economical car. It makes sense from a couple of perspectives. The first is that, although your fuel-efficient car contributes less to air pollution and the oil subsidy, those are just a fraction of external costs. You still impose costs for parking, land use, congestion, accidents--all big ticket items--as well as the somewhat smaller costs of road facilities, municipal services, and the effects on other travelers. Another way to look at it is that a gas tax is counterproductive. It encourages fuel-efficient cars but, as people buy less gas, it results in less revenue to support the road system. A mileage tax is much more direct: you pay according to how much you drive--what is more fair than that? That a mileage tax is so heavily criticized speaks loudly about how we have become accustomed to what economists call free goods. So long as someone else is paying for it we are happy to continue driving. quote:But i'm biased: My daily commute is exactly 22 feet, suckers!!! Travel related to work comprises only 1 in 5 trips. Many people who work at home or live near employment still drive a lot for other reasons such as... geocaching! I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. 10. quote:All I'm saying is this: next time you're tempted to make a virtual cache, consider making it a log only microcache. With a little ingenuity and a little creativity, it can turn what would have been a ho-hum virtual into a pretty nice log-only cache, and it could turn a great virtual into a really stellar cace. http://www.geocachingwa.org I guess I don't really see the difference between finding a film container or a name plate or dates long as both bring you to an unique area. 11. Most the logs I find in my cache's are say the same thing...found cache, great location thanks for the cache took whatever and left whatever..very few state a story about finding the cache itself. I do agree that finding a cache is gives me more enjoyment then virtuals but to me the debate can be looked at both ways. I have been to caches that one has to ask, "why?". It takes all about 5 minutes to get to the cache and find it. I much rather go to a virtual that takes me to a great place then to a cache that takes 60 minutes to drive to for a five minute find. quote:Originally posted by Kodak's4: quote:Originally posted by MattandLaura:I have one reply...how many people who have done caching for a while still exchange? . A better question to ask would be "How many people who have done caching for a while still sign the logbook?" As I approach 400 finds, I find that I enjoy signing the logbook, I enjoy reading the logbook, I enjoy leaving things for other people to take, but to be honest, I'm not very motivated to take something. I have enough things. But I definitely enjoy finding a container a whole hell of a lot more than a virtual, and that goes for log only microcaches as well. Let me put it this way: if there were nothing but traditional caches, how many of us would continue? Now, suppose there were nothing but virtual caches - how many of us would continue? http://www.geocachingwa.org I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.
  12. I have one reply...how many people who have done caching for a while still exchange? I have alot of took nothing left nothings in logs left in my caches and really don't see the difference between somebody TNLN or virtual. I agree with Oregone's, as long as VC's are well thought out and not just an address or statue then I have no problems with them. As far as Christmas caches. I may be a minority here but I did a Xmas cache last year near La Center that wanted to exchange ornaments. I liked that cache and thought it was a good idea. One last thing, who is this leatherman? dadgum calm down already I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.
  13. Brrrrrr, sounds like alot of fun. Half of the people in the world are below average

  17. I think Oregone has a great idea sans the cheerleaders (I don't think Laura would appreciate it that much)I plan on staying over again. May 31 sounds good. I do need to update the ivy bucket, perhaps hitting the army surplus for some good camo this year
  18. I received the files. Whoever wants the mapsource file e-mail me and I'll send it to you.
  19. i wrote them for a mapsource file yesterday. I am waiting for them to e-mail it to me. When I get it I'll send it to you. They have paper maps available but they are pretty spendy. Here is a link for the trip http://www.cycoactive.com/obdr/
  20. Thanks Oregone, Here is some of what was said on the page I looked at. The lawsuit forbids the Oregon Parks Department from creating public facilities or attractions for the off-roading public (for example; remove all the route signage). Why? Because they don't want us out there. The OBDR is all on public roads, open to public use and will continue to be available regardless of the lawsuit's outcome. Read it, get involved, protect and celebrate the backcountry; and retain your access! To download a copy (.pdf, 24K) of the lawsuit, click here. May 2001 update. Well the lawsuit was upheld, and the Oregon Parks department is now using remaining OBDR funds to remove the signs. They cannot be replaced until the Oregon Parks Department conducts an "EIS" (environmental impact statement). This is impossible, as there was barely any money for the signs, certainly no $300,000 laying around for an EIS to determine the "impact" of using public roadways that have been there for 40 years. Please someone try to clue in these environmental groups that they're making it hard for a concerned guy to support valid environmental issues when they use environmental laws so frivoulously. Get the maps ASAP while they're still available from the OOHVA
  21. my b-i-l does alot of dualsport trail riding(black dog and rat dog). He gave me a link a site that has downloadable routes for the gps. They mentioned that the state stop publicizing it but the trail is still open. It sounds like a lot of fun.
  22. Has anyone been on this? My brother-in-law and myself are planning a ride next summer and maybe hit a few caches or hide a few on the way.
  23. i have 2 choices of who this is, 1 of whom hasn't been around for about 5 months
  24. I'm up for that. I'm planning a new cache shortly which could be a goal of some sort for the east side. So in a since bring it don't sing it
