  1. I just did a google search, thus how I found this topic, because this is what is happening to me now (7/9/13). I have tried in Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer and it is doing it to me in all 3 browsers. I use Windows 7.
  2. Huge congratulations goes out to you!! I have the pleasure of personally knowing 2 of the cachers who went on this run and I can vouch for them that they enjoy what they do. This is a GAME and the GAME is set up so you can play it as you see fit. So what if they like the numbers, that's the way they choose to play and there's nothing at all wrong with it. The ones I know happen to be wonderful people and there is no reason what so ever for you to come down on them just because they choose to play a little different than you do! Now, having said that, I do wish to congratulate you on this awesome achievement. I must admit I'm a little envious of you and would have loved to have been there with ya. Demonic
  3. Great! I just may need some help when we do get up there. We are not familiar with the area at all. We have visited while on vacation before but both Angel and i are life long Arkansas residents so this will be all new for us. But we have some wonderful hide ideas that we are going to bring with us when we get up there. I'm already ready to move now, but I have to keep reminding myself that 1, I don't want to jerk the kids out of school in the middle of the year; 2, I don't want to be moving a housefull of stuff over the Rockys in the middle of the winter and 3, we haven't decided on a house just yet. But I've never been one to have much patience... that's Angel's job. lol
  4. Thanks a bunch! That will help me out a lot.
  5. We currently live in Arkasnas but will be moving to Washington the beginning of the summer. We are moving to the area north of Spokane and are looking to just talk to other cachers in the area to get an idea of the types of hides as well as any caching organizations that are up there.
  6. Anyone know of a website I can go to to help me decrypt something that I think might be written in binary? I'm currently working on a puzzle cache that I believe to be loosely related to that and I am wanting to test my theory, but I know nothing of binary and have searched on google, but can't seem to find any websites that list anything past 23 in binary.
  7. My husband and I are avid gem collectors so as a sort of signature item we leave our calling card, with a little zip lock bag taped to it with a gem in it. It's usually a ruby or sapphire worth $5 to $10 each. But when we put ones out, we usually leave a better quality (around a $20) gem inside each of our caches we put out. As for the treasure hunt... I'm on the hunt to get me one of those books now!!! LOL
  8. Ok everyone. It's really hard to get a lot of people together on the same day, so I thought the easiest way to do it would be to just make up this topic and we can discuss when we want to get together to do some caching in Oklahoma City. I want to be able to include everyone who wants to go, so post your ideas of a date/time and such here so we can discuss it and get a feel of when would be a good time to do it.
  9. Ooooooh, that sounds like another good one I love night caches, but there just aren't that many around in my area.
  10. I had an idea I wanted to throw out at all the cachers in the NW Arkansas area, and well anyone else anywhere around that might be interested, and see what you thought about it. Most of the caches I have gotten are right around my local home area. But they are starting to get a little thin. What I was thinking is making a trip out to Oklahoma City sometime and get a bunch of the caches out there. From what I understand from reading the pages too is that there are 2 very interesting night caches to be gotten in that area as well. So, here's my idea. I was wondering how many of our cachers would be interested in arranging a date to go out there as a group and cache for the day and pick up the night caches as well. We could arrange a meeting place (like somewhere in Fort Smith since it's on the way) and just have a convoy go up there and spend the day caching and visiting and comparing stories. Then when it gets dark hit the night ones (the 2 I'm talking about are suppose to be spooky; A Hair Raising Experience and The Tomb). I have a querie set up that only lists ones that are a 2 in difficulty or less and 2 in terrain or less in like 20 miles of OK City and a limit of 100 and I get a full 100 listed so it's not like we would be hurting for caches. Right now we are leaning toward doing it on some Saturday. Starting early and coming home late Saturday night, or some of us might want to end up spending the night there. But I would definatelly like a large group for the night caches more especially. I think that would make them even more fun. Well, it's just an idea and I was wondering how many would be interested in doing something like that. I'm open to your ideas. Toni
  11. Proud female cacher here!! Hubby and I cache together as Demonicangel. He's the Angel part of our team and I'm the Demon. But I'm usually the one dragging him out of bed at 6 am for an entire day of caching. He likes it... but not as much as I do.
  12. It is a very clever hide!! It's one of the ones that has you praying for good clues because without them you don't have much of a chance of finding it. Also, less chance of being muggled. I have to admit that it's one of my biggest achievements... just finding it.
  13. A round cylindrical tube was used to hollow out a place in the ground for the holder to be placed in. The holder is similar to, but not exactly, like a sprinkler system would be. It has a screw on top that is basically flush with the ground with the hollow part being underground. Then the cache itself was placed into that holder and the top screwed back on so that only the top cap is above ground. I'm not sure how it would fall into the "pointy object" catagory, but it was one heck of a hide that's for sure.
  14. Ok, I'm not going to get into the argument about if it's "legal" or not, but I do want to clarify a few things because I'm from around the area where the particular cache in question is and have, myself, found this cache and talked to the owner as well as the originator of this thread. The particular rule that's in question is this one: Caches that are buried. If a shovel, trowel or other “pointy” object is used to dig, whether in order to hide or to find the cache, then it is not appropriate. This is listed in the off-limits (physical) cache area of the guidlines. He is just basically asking for clarification on this, as in, would the particular cache he is talking about fall into this catagory. Also, the cache that is being talked about is this: Eurkea I just wanted to add this so you know better what is being asked and which cache is being talked about when you are discussing it.
  15. Saturday (Valentines Day) was group Demonicangel's 11th wedding anniversary. We got a friend of ours to keep our children for the weekend and we decided that what better way to spend our anniversary than geocaching. Well, Saturday morning a friend of ours, Beerhog, announced to me the he had hidden a cache and wanted me to see if I could use the coordinates to find it. I was all game and Jim thought it would be fun so off we went. We went to the Legion Hut here in Paris and my heart sank. My gps was leading me toward a rock wall and Beerhog already said it was a micro... and I just knew there were literally hundreds of places it could be, but being a sport I decided to hunt. After about 10 minutes I found it. I opned the bag and inside were 2 small blue boxes. I opened the first one and there was a georgous ring. I asked Beerhog where he got it and he just grinned. I opened the second box and inside it I saw a necklace that I had been wanting for a long time. It wasn't until then that I realized that the ring I just saw matched the necklace. I was stunned. I turned around and Jim was standing there with this huge grin on his face. It was then that Jim and Beerhog together said "happy anniversary". I was in shock. Come to find out, Jim had enlisted Beerhog's help in setting up the perfect anniversary present for me. Instead of just handing me the jewelry, he thought I would enjoy "hunting" for it. My own personal geocache. I have to admit that I had one of the best Valentines Day's and anniversary's I've ever had.
  16. I did a good one today... I was out caching at the Fly Gap today and there was this little "jump" down to the next ledge where I thought I could get some really choice pics. Well I ended up jumping on a tree root with part of my foot and the other part of my foot was on the ground. I managed to twist my ankle pretty darn badly. But that didn't stop me from getting 4 more caches today. The only drawback to it was that by the time I got home my ankle was swollen HUGE!!!
  17. I haven't hidden any yet, but in my searching what I try to do is take the readings I get off my GPS and post them in my log so that others can get an idea of what sort of variants they can expect. So far, nothing I have seeked out has been very far off at all. I'm getting on average of a 5 foot radius of where I'm suppose to be. But from my understanding, you'll get different readings from different gps units as well as different readings in different weather conditions, but none so bad as to make it impossible to find. Good cordinates are a must because you don't want to have to search a 1/4 square mile area to find something, but at the same time you don't want to be able to walk right on top of it either.... It's the hunt. At least that's how I feel as a hunter.
  18. Thanks, I got it working now. The reason I wasn't seeing anything there was because for some reason the quiries I had tried to make didn't take so there wasn't any there for me to edit. Oh well, I got it working now and all is fine. Oh, by the way, I've only had my GPS for 3 weeks now and am up to 30 finds. I'm just so happy. LOL
  19. Am I just blind or something? But I can't seem to find the page where I can go in and edit my pocket quiries. I created one, and decided I wanted to go in and change something, but for some reason I just can't find it... I guess I just need a good night's sleep, or someone smart to tell me what I'm doing wrong.
