  1. Hey! 12 packets in and 13 to go..... Received a packet from Powder Springs GA today. We also closed on our new house today and settled on terms for the sale of the current house. As it stands we will start moving in on October 1...we gave the previous (so cool to say!) owners a 2 week grace period to stay in the house..... So I imagine that the quilt won't be sewn together until the end of October. May address won't change until October 1 but we will own 2 houses until October 18th. Thanks again to all who are participating in this project. Dx "Have you no news on your travels?" the Book of fairy & folk tales of Ireland (1888)

  3. Hey.....So my closing date for our new house is looming ever closer...Exactly 1 week away.....I thought that I had all my bases covered then the lawyer says today "This could be a problem" I hate when lawyers say that!! We also are ever so close to having this house sold.....Just have to come to terms on what we will repair and what we won't.....Fun Wow! BTW....My address won't change until after October 1 (our sellers are staying until that date) and even then we will still be in the same small town......... I received 2 more packets.....from Geeba (oh man are those artistic and 2 signed by Japanese people on vacation here) and Wanderlost (I noticed some famous geocacher signatures in this one...but hey, we are all famous in our own right) So I will put these up and see how many more arrive before the next due date.....I also have extra plain squares that can we worked in and signed once the quilt is given out........ So 11 in 14 to go DxChallenged "Have you no news on your travels?" the Book of fairy & folk tales of Ireland (1888)

  5. Hey! The quilt publicity sounds great.....just e-mail me what I need to do. I just posted on the other project I have going. I had some of the blocks retured to me so I arranged them on my design wall. Right now we are in the midst of a move. What a headache all of this is!! We close on our new house in two weeks...scrambling to come up with all the money as this house we are in won't be sold for another month. Then we accepted a bid on this house and had to deal with a 3 1/2 hour home inspection.....this guy went through the house with a lice comb....... He found nothing major wrong but the buyer want us to do a bunch of cosmetic things that you would see in a new house.........so now the wrangeling begins....the best part is that Butterfly girl and I are leaving today for a conference in Cleveland........can't wait to just get away!! Back to the quilt......if the collected ones could start to come here I could get them up on the design wall and send off a picture........I'm hoping to have most sewn together by October 1 as that is when we start to move to the new place....I don't want to loose a single block in the move and once there I won't have a design wall. Thanks again to everyone who participated in this project. It is way bigger than the American one that I have going.......and along the way I have met many new friends ..we are hoping to cache in Canada much more frequently!! 9. Hi All! Well we are in the midst of house stuff here. Closing on the new one on the 17th and we hope to close on the one that we are in on the 18th of October. Yeap we accepted a bid, I spent 2 months making this place shine and we survived a 3 1/2 hour home inspection. So my quilts have taken a back seat for a while. I also have work committments so I am off to Cleveland latter today with Butterfly girl for a conference.......I thought that I would post before I leave. I have received quilt squares back from 9 out of 28 cachers.....so that means right now there is a 1 in 9 chance of having your name drawn (for those who returned the squares and placed squares in caches) to be given the quilt. Those that returned their squares are: Clatmandu Clayjar Texas Jacksons AllenLacy geocrickets MissJenn Dekanter geostars Neuman I had a number of unsigned blocks left over so I sewed them together and made up a quilt top. I also layed out the blocks that I had recevied back on my design wall. I will send pictures of these to Dekaner & J-Ra and have them post em (I still don't have a web site of my own). Let's make the next dealine be the end of this month. That way I may be able to piece together the blocks before we move and therebye avoid any of them getting lost in the shuffle. I think that this quilt will be great......The blue and yellow is so bright and cheery.....just what you need to have around you when the winter greys hit! 11. Hey! so I have started collecting the blocks......Right now the I have just over 20 signed blocks....one extra pieced block was sent so I will use this on the back of the quilt and put all the details on it ......name of the quilt, purpose (tangible log book), my name, date finished and the town and state I live in .......The Smithstonian has asked quilters to do this so that in years to come no research will need to be done to find out the history of the quilt........Plus it make the quilt more valuable.... So today I am putting 3 names in the hat. These will we combined with the other names of cachers who have placed blocks and retured them One name will be chosen to give the quilt to.... so far The Texas-Jacksons The Lacy family Clay Jar have their squares in!! This is gonna be Great!! thanks again for helping with this project.....pictures to follow once I get some room on my design wall! 13. Hey Mr. Gigabite...long time no talk...... Since 300mag and Cliffy helped me coordinate this project, let's have the squares returned to them by the 27th.... So***Deadline to have all squares---signed or unsigned returned to Cliffy and 300mag is August 27th*** I sent pictures off to Cliffy with how the squares that 300mag brought with him look in the pattern and also a picture of the 2 of us in front of my fair town's sign with a mini quilt that I finished for him and Mrs. 300mag... I had thought of putting the igloo that is in one of the original posted pictures, on my head (I hate having my picture taken) but it was way to warm for that...at least I didn't break the camera Can't wait to see how all the squares look together.... 15. Hey! We had such a great visit with 300mag and his wife! They experienced Buffalo wings (with those buffalo flying all over it's no wonder that American Air Traffic Controlers are busy ) they had a "feel" for how suicided wings interact with a digestive system, saw the waterfront of Buffalo, NY, got a first hand view of what a gem my tiny town is, checked out the soon to be new Hilton homestead and spent a day at the Six Flags theme park...Now 300mag knows why I call my hubby "Fearless Leader"...the more gut wrenching the ride the better he likes it!! I just posted a dealine on my "From Sea to Shinning Sea" quilt project.......so lets make this deadline the same...... ******Dealine is August 27th****** My wedding anniversary We should be moving into the new house sometime in October (unless we sell this house in a month or so) consequently 2 morgage payments will be in my budget...but the great thing is that I have everything I need to geocache and quilt so both will fit nicely in the new financial reality. I really like the way the blocks look that 300mag brought! Keep them comming!! And thanks again for participating in this project. It's terriffic to share my 2 favorite pastimes!! 17. Hi! I thought that I would post a quilt project update. So far I have 30 geocachers participating in this project. To date I have received 6 signed squares back...all from Texas! I have pieced another set of plain blocks and in the next few days I will put them on the design wall and send off a picture so you can more closely see how the finished quilt will look. My home situation has changed somewhat. We continue to sell our house but our contingent time expiered on our new home we then put in a noncontingent offer that was accepted.........so within the next few months I will be paying 2 morgages. The great news is that I have all I need to geocache and quilt so these won't be affected by my new budget. ****Time dealine let's target August 27th (my wedding anniversary) for having blocks returned to me******** I also have a Canadian quilt project going...I have a feeling that both projects will be completed around the same time......We are to move into the new house around the end of October... Thanks again for participating in this project....... Does anyone have ideas for who to give the quilt to? My idea was to place the names of all the cachers who had blocks sent to them and returned back to me... in a hat. Then draw one name and that cacher would receive the quilt. 22. Hey Sponge Bob! Tim Horton's seem to be multiplying all over in WNY....One is destin to go in my fair town of Akron, NY! They just tore down an old building and the Tim's should be in before the school year starts. I've been saving the single use coffee packets from the hotels that we stay in.......Thought that those might be a nice trade for the cache box.....sealed and all. I am a coffee fanatic...must admit that if I didn't have access to hot water I would just rip open the packet and do a Mr' Bean number...open mouth, insert coffee grinds, water, shake. Perhaps that is why I get so many projects done! DxChallenged "Have you no news on your travels?" the Book of fairy & folk tales of Ireland (1888)

  24. Hey! I just got an e-mail from 300 mag. He and the Mrs. are going to be in my fair neck of the woods in a week and a 1/2........ KOOOOLLLLL!! They're comming to drop off the signed blocks that he has received, check out local caches (ours are the best in Akron ((ok ours are the only ones in Akron but still the best)), and see the sites. Can't wait and I've been reving up the sewing machine.......Seems I have found his cache that was missing when we went to Ottawa. Or at least several close resemblances.... I'll put all the blocks he brings on the design wall and then post a picture here so you all can see how it looks.
