  1. I'm in for one of each, please.
  2. Although I have a picture of me with my GPSr from last September, I didn't quite feel right about logging a visit on Glen Falls, so I left a note and a rating. It was one of my favorite stops on our vacation last year, and with its proximity to Niagra Falls, I could see people overlooking it unless a good rating made them take a look. Unfortunately, it's just a bit too far away to do a day trip to log a current visit and I have no idea when I'll be back in that part of NY. Leaving a note seemed like a good compromise to me.
  3. Recently I've exploring the Northern Virginia countryside, and photographing the road side markers, Civil War Discovery trails, and anything else interesting I run across. Seems like pretty much anytime I sit down to actually add my waymarks, I end up getting interrupted, so I save without submitting more often than not. Going back to that particular waymark wasn't that hard when I only had a handful of waymarks, but now that I'm at 3 pages of waymarks and growing, it can be a little frustrating picking up where I left off. I've noticed there are people who own more than a hundred waymarks, and I shudder to think about even trying to find the lone unapproved/declined waymark on those lists. I'd like to propose a toggle view on the My Waymarks page, so that you can quickly get to your inactive waymarks. While this relates to the other UI suggestion, I think it would be helpful to show the most recent reason declined when you toggle your listings to "Show Declined". The other suggestion I had would add a timestamp to the "Declined By:" field on the Waymark Details page, along with a "Reason For Denial" field. I fixed one of my waymarks this morning as directed by the reviewer, and hit resubmit. I got the update success message on the next page, so I went out for the afternoon to take care of a few things. I got back about 10pm, and was checking the status of my waymark, since I never got another approval or declined email, although I did receive other email from Waymarking.com. It was still showing as declined, so I clicked edit, and the submit for reapproval button was back. Not having received any other emails regarding this waymark, it left me in a bit of a quandary. Perhaps I misinterpreted the reviewer's instructions or my submit didn't really go through? If the waymark detail page listed the timestamp of the current denial, along with the reason for denial, it would leave me with a better idea of whether I need to just hit resubmit again or how to fix what was wrong. I know the reviewers are busy people, and I hate to bug them needlessly.
  4. I'm also a female cacher. I mostly cache alone or with my toddler. My husband doesn't mind going to cache, but he'd rather only do a cache or two a day, since he's into biking. It's also hard to do the more challenging caches with a toddler . However, we did a geocaching vacation last year, which he really enjoyed. I grew up in the South, so the Northeast was very new to me and living so close to Canada was quite the novelty. I found a few earthcaches in each state/province, and planned our route around those and filled in the empty areas with other interesting caches. We saw a lot of neat things and took a very roundabout way into Kentucky from Virginia. (We went through NYC to Mass to Niagra Falls to Detroit to Chicago to southern Indiana to Kentucky. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes taking long road trips.) I've been to events in three states, and women cachers have been pretty well represented in Virginia, Maryland, and Tennessee, ranging in age from primary school kids to grandmothers. Some were casual cachers, others were in the 2k+ club, but most were in between. You're in Oklahoma, so if you wanted to meet more female cachers, you could go to Geowoodstock 4 in Dallas this May. edit to fix url
  5. I did. I thought perhaps others in the ArkLaTex or ArkLaMiss might also be interested.
  6. Is there any interest in doing a cookout/campfire type event this summer? If there's enough interest, I will try to plan one to coincide with my end of summer Louisiana visit. I'm doing Cache Across Maryland (CAM) right now, and I thought it might be fun to do something like that in North Louisiana. The way CAM works is that there is a set of 10 caches across Maryland for CAM seekers to find before the picnic event. The picnic event is just for fun and everyone is welcome. I will probably be visiting North Louisiana at the end of May/early June. If there are 10 people who are interested in doing it by then, I will place the caches and work on finding a good picnic site. I was thinking Caney Lake or Lake Claiborne, but if there's a site that works better for the majority of the cachers, feel free to let me know. Since there will be about 2.5-3 months in between the caches becoming active, and the picnic, I'd like to get about 25-30 caches across this part of Louisiana, especially in places with a low cache density. If you're interested in placing caches for this, please let me know.
  7. I'm not a huge fan of Richmond, it reminds me of Houston. However, traffic wasn't bad when I visited. I live in Fairfax, and it takes about 1.5 hours to drive down there. There seems to be a decent amount of caching there... enough that I sorta didn't do what I originally went there to do . Oops, oh well, just means another day trip down there. I was not completely sold on North Virginia when I moved here from Dallas. However, being able to go to the mountains (Shenandoah or Blue Ridge) or to DC or NYC within in a few hours definitely offers quite a bit of variety if you feel the need to get out of dodge. Not sure if you're into music, but NoVa gets some decent acts, and cities like Philly, NYC, and Pittsburgh are close enough to do an overnight trip for a concert.
