  4. I haven't really done much with my geocoins in the past few years, so I thought I'd put them up for sale so someone else could enjoy them. Unless noted, all coins are $10. Shipping is $3.00, each additional coin ships for $0.50. These coins have never traveled in the wild, but some have been taken to events for discovery. First up, I have state geocoins. I will be adding coins as I come across them. 5. I have several trackable state geocoins that I am selling. Most are activated, however a few are not. Times have been tough, so unfortunately I have to let some of my coins go. 6. Yes, all these coins are trackable on geocaching.com.
  7. Unfortunately, over the past year, things have been a little rough for me. I am no longer with Mr. Pixieslayer and as a stay at home mom, I am finding it a little rough getting back on my feet. Things are starting to look up since I did finally find a job in this economy, but it will be a little rough for this month, so I am selling several coins from my collection. If you want a picture of a coin, please let me know and I will post one. Shipping is $1.25 for single coins ($.50 per coin between 2-4) and 4.95 for 5 or more coins. If you are buying a large number of coins, I will have to see how many can be safely packed in the small flat rate boxes and let you know how much it will cost. I will keep this list updated and will be adding more in the coming days. 8. I'm 26, and AT Hiker Wannabe is 2, so our average age is 14 . As for WW2 vets who cache, my grandfather will go caching with us sometimes if it doesn't involve long car rides or tough terrain. He's found about 4 with us, I think. He's nearly 83 now. He's living in his hometown, and it's actually pretty cool to go caching there with him because he remembers how it was in the 30s. We don't get to see my grandparents too often, but one of the unexpected benefits of ATHW caching with his great grandpa is that they both have a really good time together.
  9. Try http://www.geocaching.com/pocket/ to get to the PQ page directly.
  10. I find that new caches within 5-10 miles of me have slowed down, -but- it seems like new caches are popping up faster outside of the metro area than they were this time last year. Also, my home parish used to have a whopping 2 caches (one of which was mine) until this year. Now there's a shade over 20, which have all popped up since Thanksgiving. I think another reason the rate of new caches is slowed down here is because people seem to be over the whole "a cache in every lamp post skirt" thing. Most new caches I've done recently have been decent sized caches that took me on a nice walk, and quite a few nice multis and puzzles are also popping up. I'll gladly take a slower rate of interesting new caches over a high rate of mostly skirtlifter new caches.
  11. Picked my coins up at GW5 today. They looked great!
  12. Count me in for the black nickel and misty silver . They all look great!
  13. Step 22a: While on a solo visit, your 2 year expresses stunned disbelief that his grandparents don't have a "GeePeeEss!!!" and then tries to introduce them to geocaching every time they take him to play at the park or park the car too close to a lamp post. Ginormobaby had his first solo visit with his grandparents while I was at Geocoinfest and the only problem he gave my parents was about the lack of caching that week . Most of the time we get in the car, we're going caching, so it throws him for a loop when a trip doesn't involve caching.
  14. I'd go with Labor Day, since it would probably be best for parents/teachers and probably likely to have the best weather regardless of the location. There's just so much that goes on these days in the first 6-8 weeks of school that would make it hard for a parent to justify taking their kids out for a non emergency. Some of us are lucky enough to family who can visit and make sure our kids go to school while we take a long weekend off, but I don't think most parents have that option. I wouldn't mind having the coin event happen twice a year, once on each coast. It's not a perfect solution, since it probably doesn't help the midwesterners. But I could see more people on whatever the coast the event is on feel that it's doable if it's within about a 1200-1500mi drive. With two+ drivers, that isn't a bad drive, and it's still doable solo. I would travel for it whenever and wherever it is. But then again, my road trip to Geocoinfest and back will end up falling just shy of 7k miles, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask .
  15. I really liked that the Temecula Event was the next day, since it gave me a chance to see new friends again before we went our separate ways. Since I'm an east coaster, I went in to Geocoinfest only having met about 4 people there prior to the event. Walking into a sea of new faces with semi familiar names is just a little overwhelming when you're by yourself. The coin quest was a great way to help break the ice. I started it solo and finished with new friends. As far as scheduling it so families can attend, it's going to be pretty difficult outside of the month of July. We always started school in August and finished in May, but my cousins who lived up north started in September and finished in June. Some schools don't get a spring break either, since they give time off for local holidays like Mardi Gras or bowl game days. Your best bets for accommodating families with school kids are probably going to be Labor Day weekend, or the extended weekend breaks at Thanksgiving or Easter. The 2007-2008 school calendars should be available now or will be very shortly, so maybe the parents interested in going to Geocoinfest next year could post their holiday dates so we can find a common one?
  16. He's wrong on both counts. I admire the people who make it to adulthood and beyond without allowing the quality of being nice without ulterior motives to be stripped from their character. I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of the people who either nominated someone or received a coin are making an effort to pay it forward in other areas of their lives. As someone who was surprised with an award for something I wasn't doing for fame and glory, I can tell you how great it feels to know that someone appreciates your work enough to nominate you. It made my year. Don't let this guy get to you. He may have grown up about the same time as I did, when "everyone is a winner!" and you got rewarded even if you didn't do anything. A few of the people I went to school with still throw tantrums because they did nothing and someone else gets recognized for their hard work. I think the PIF coins are a great project, because you can thank the people who go above and beyond without any expectation of thanks.
  17. Yep, we leave in about 8 hours. We're going to the TriCities event in Tennessee on the way down, then it's a few days at my parents' house so Ginormobaby can get used to them again before I drive the other half of my trip. I'm so excited that I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone there and I hope everyone has a safe trip.
  18. Unfortunately, it's been awhile since I've lived in the "unofficial" part of east Texas, so I don't get to hear any Cowboys gossip. I guess I'll go with Wade Phillips because Wikipedia says he might get wish.
  19. You can see the sun in the picture! Last I heard, we had a chance of rain this weekend. Last weekend we set record highs...some areas reached the 90's! Only two more days until I leave for Geocoinfest! My husband is just a little jealous that I get to leave this cold weather behind for perfect biking weather since he's biked to work in subzero real feel temps this week . All I have left to do before I leave is get my Geocoinfest or Bust wooden nickels ready to drop in caches along the way.
  20. I would love to have a set of the 2007s to go with my 2006 set . Looks great!
  21. Got ours today and they look great. Ginormobaby thought they must belong to our pug, Jack .
  22. Email sent. I just couldn't resist, since we've had pugs in our family since my grandpa won a pair at a raffle in 1966. I've been a pug fan since I was two days old and went to visit my grandparents for the first time. Their breeding pair had a litter about 2 hours after I was born, so my first pug came to live with us on my first Christmas. Thanks for making the cool coin.
  23. Fortunately, my parents live roughly halfway between Virginia and California, so I won't have to drive the whole stretch at once. I've never been further west than the DFW area, so I'll be caching/sightseeing once I get past there. I'll be gaining two hours, so it's possible I might make it in early enough to hang out. I leave one week from today and I don't think I could be more excited .
