  1. I was thinking more of a fabulous forested park to walk within.
  2. Now that looks like a park I'd love to visit! Let's see... only 607km from my home coordinates. Could be a long weekend road trip!
  3. I have one out there, on the ground, that looks petty much like it did when I placed it there four years ago with its original army green paint.
  4. Please clarify. The question implies that Las Vegas is a Canadian destination which it obviously is not, but you could mean a destination *for* Canadians, but then the question closes with "in the world." Are you looking for a place in Canada? Is it a place that people go to from all over the world, or just Canadians? Is it St. Catherines (sp?) Street in Montreal?
  5. +1 for parking coordinates! Many times I have found myself on the wrong side of the river/tracks/industrial area/urban forest/etc and had to waste gas circling around looking for an entry point. There have even been cases where I had to abandon the search without leaving the vehicle. Parking coordinates are so simple and yet so useful.
  6. I have the 60Cx, pretty sure you can't change this. You are restricted to 10m accuracy (0.01).
  7. Oh yeah... it's all coming back to me now. Your accent should have clued me in to the proper part of the globe.
  8. How long does it take to select, say, 1,000 waypoints? If you create a waypoint, then put a 10km proximity on it, is the red circle around the waypoint perfectly round?
  9. Exactly. It would be hard to create code this sloppy even if that was the task: World's sloppiest code. On the multiple cores (I have a Quad, too), they don't necessarily have to create a program that uses multiple cores, but one should be fine (as we see in 6.13).
  10. The newest version is still garbage: Distorted maps, non-transparent custom icons, and has anyone every tried selecting a lot of waypoints? Over on the right hand side, select a waypoint, then do Ctrl-A (for ALL). In 6.13 I do this with almost 3,000 waypoints, and they select instantly. In 6.14 or 6.15, the program grinds to a halt. I tried it with 300 waypoints, and you wait about 15 seconds for them to select.
  11. A trail? A route? A river? That ends in North Dakota? Maybe it starts in North Dakota if it is a river, but that is the end point? Those are my guesses.
  12. Where? I just went to Garmin's downloads page and it still says 6.15.3.
  13. That is a good tip. I have long been frustrated by crappy search engines on forums. thanks.
  14. Thanks for the link. I tried the forum's (mostly useless) search function last night and came up empty. Well, not exactly empty... I got 54 pages of results and gave up combing through them by the fifth page.
  15. Doesn't work for me. I tried putting the "My Garmin" folder in there, then the "Custom Waypoint Symbols" folder, then I put the files themselves directly in that folder, and nothing.
  16. I have been successfully using custom waypoint icons with Mapsource, GSAK, and my 60Cx. But when I updated my Mapsource install to version 6.15.3, it stopped recognizing the custom icons. They are still in my GPSr. They are still recognized by GSAK. They are still present in Documents \ My Garmin \ Custom Waypoint Symbols. But the Mapsource app refuses to "see" them. (And Garmin's tech support is not bothering to answer.) Can anyone help?
  17. They really should be used only for emergency situations. I don't even think they are legal on a lot of roads in Ontario, but don't quote me on that.
  18. I would definitely get a topo map set for anywhere in Newfoundland. Either Garmin's Topo Canada, or the free Ibycus version. For tracking your finds and targets on your computer, the gold-standard is GSAK.
  19. Got mine from Radio World on Steeles in Toronto. (Actually, a 60Cx, which I decided was superior to the 60CSx.)
  20. No, you should continue to discover coins at events. It is a very popular thing to do at events.
  21. can you define a 'long time ago'? ok another hint before 1900,, Africa came to visit? The opening of the Atlantic took A LOT longer than 109 years! Huh? He said *before* 1900, and I'm pretty sure Africa came to visit -- and left -- all before 1900. (Plus, it was a feeble attempt at humour.)
