I also got an Etrex for Christmas and thought the instruction book was pretty slim on advice. I did manage to figure out how to enter a waypoint using the "mark" function, and we found our first cache later that day. I still have one question for you veteran cachers, though. I am using the waypoint names and lat/long listed in the cache descriptions, but am curious as to what everyone else does for the elevation. Do you enter an approximate elevation after looking at the map, or just not worry about it? I'm wondering if significant elevation differences between the actual location and the manually entered waypoint could cause you difficulty in finding some of the more difficult caches? One last question... With the Etrex, is there an easy way to change the elevation once you are at the physical location? The only way I have fiigured out to display current location data is to start to mark a waypoint. Then, if I don't want to save the data, I hit the page button. Do I have to do this, then open up the previously entered waypoint and edit it?
Thanks,
Greg
