  1. We just found some Chiclets (chewing gum) still in the cellophane wrapper in an ammo can cache near the North Shore on Oahu. My wife took one and popped it in her mouth only to discover that it had molded due to the humidity. We threw them all away. Yuck!
  2. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions for a source of the 2003 coins. We just started geocaching after Christmas and would really like one (or more) of the 2003 coins. I've done a search on Ebay and a Google search to no avail. Does anyone know of a coin dealer or someone that would have stocked up on the 2003 coins before they stopped producing them? Or does anyone else have one or more that they would be willing to sell or trade? If not, I guess this just proves that the early bird does get the worm.... (Of course the second mouse gets the cheese!) Thanks, Greg
  3. Stu and Sarah, I'm new to game, so I want to make sure I get this strait. If we find a bug in a cache, and don't want to take it, we can post a note and it will give credit in "items found" on the user stats page? If we actually pick it up, then we should log as a "retrieve" and that will post credit for the find as well as updating the location to show it is in our hands rather than a cache? Finally, I guess "grab" is used if you find it somewhere other than the last logged location or if you hand off person-to-person? Thanks, Greg
  4. I also got an Etrex for Christmas and thought the instruction book was pretty slim on advice. I did manage to figure out how to enter a waypoint using the "mark" function, and we found our first cache later that day. I still have one question for you veteran cachers, though. I am using the waypoint names and lat/long listed in the cache descriptions, but am curious as to what everyone else does for the elevation. Do you enter an approximate elevation after looking at the map, or just not worry about it? I'm wondering if significant elevation differences between the actual location and the manually entered waypoint could cause you difficulty in finding some of the more difficult caches? One last question... With the Etrex, is there an easy way to change the elevation once you are at the physical location? The only way I have fiigured out to display current location data is to start to mark a waypoint. Then, if I don't want to save the data, I hit the page button. Do I have to do this, then open up the previously entered waypoint and edit it? Thanks, Greg
