  1. The memory size of the maps. Really helpful if your GPS is limited on memory but you want a new map. Also the larger the size (normally) the greater the detail will be. not really. The 24k and 100k refer to the map scale. 24,000:1 is 1 inch to 2000 feet. More here. Jim GRrr I hate being wrong Theres a first time for everything right?
  2. I have never hidden a cache, so didn't know for certain if I could do this or not. After reading the guidelines...yes, it may run into several issues. Thank you so much...I'm glad it was just an idea and can easily be scrapped! Thanks again! There is nothing preventing you from having a private cache, give out the co-ordinates at the event and then pick it up afterward. The finder just won't get a smiley on GC.com. Jim I'm kind of new here myself, but couldn't this be listed as an event cache?
  3. Well I was kind of wanting this to BE the cache. Maybe I'll look to see if I can make this part of an actual multicache ,as there are several interesting sites to see there.
  4. I've done some more reading on the geocahing website, and it would appear that the type of cache that I would like to do would have been a "virtual cache" but that they are not allowing any more of these (too bad). I guess I will put together a "traditional cache" to hide there, unless someone tells me that I can use my original idea before I get everything together.

  6. Reposted because first post was BLANK The scenario: I took a walk today and stopped at an interpretive area ,and immediately thought "this place hasn't been visited very often", and then I had an idea: If this was a geocache, people would come here! The dilemna: I looked on the site for listing requirements and think that this site could be listed if I listed it as a multicache (offset) site; BUT I am not 100% sure that I am correct. I ran a few searches here on the forum and didn't find anything that appeared to address my dilemna. Can I in fact list this as a geocache; asking the finder to answer a question about a particular there, or not? If I can, then am I correct in believing that it would be listed as multicache (offset)? If this cannot be done, then I will hide a cache there, and do it that way; it makes no never mind to me how I do it, but I thought that the "finding the answer to a question" part sounded like fun (at least to me, as I have done a couple of those and found them to be fun). Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this issue I am having. Be Safe! MatieA
  7. I drove truck for 9 years and ran my Laptop off of an Inverter and have never had any problems with it, and I still use an inverter in my pickup for the laptop, although a much smaller version, and have no problems.
  8. I also had this problem and Garmin support said to update the software and when I did, it fixed the problem. It is something about the older software not working properly with a new WAAS satellite. Download/Install WebUpdater, and it will take care of updates for you.
  9. Thank You, I have them downloaded and installed. I didn't see one for Nebraska so I'll keep watching here.
  10. I have tried using these links with no luck, I can't even get to gpsfiledepot at all. This link works, I'll download it tonight when i go to bed. http://www.ibycus.com/ibycususa/IbycusUSA20.exe It appears my wonderful (sarcasm) host has decided to take a dump today. Hopefully I'll be back up soon. And I was afraid I had forgotten how to work a computer -- What a relief!!-- Anyway thanks for the response, I am downloading it from the link that I found working right now couldn't wait 'till tonight. I am thanking you for your work on this even though I haven't seen the maps yet. I'm after Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado as I live on the three corners. Thanks!!!

  12. Wow, I'm new to all this and do believe I am guilty of non-descriptive short logs. I will do my best to do better from this point, and I have had a great time finding caches -- a few on my own and more with my 10yr old daughter-- I have redone my lame online logs, paper logs will have to stay the same.
