  1. Greetings, and thank you for the comments and questions. This new feature will be out in the coming soon so that we can ensure it works as expected.
At this time these notification emails will only occur if a player leaves a review or photo on the completed Adventure.

These emails function much like the geocaching log notification emails, in that there is no opt-out option but email filters can be set if you do not wish to receive them.

  2. @ilTozzo Thank you for the update. We have a bug ticket to investigate this behavior (so far only reported or reproduced on this particular Adventure), but I have updated that ticket with this new information you've shared. As it appears to be a unique case we do want to investigate it, but I cannot say for certain when this will be. Thank you for your patience and for the helpful update.

I had the same problem last week. Already after the first stage of a five-stages Adventure Lab, it was displayed as completed and the possibility to write a log entry was opened.

With another ALC I have the problem that I have completed all stages, but no possibility to write a log entry. This ALC is shown as not completed. I have not seen a way to change this. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

@pipatah Are you able to share screenshots of either of these Adventures, and what mobile device you are on (iOS? Android?)? If you have not yet updated the app version, can you please let me know which app version this happened on? (The version information from the app can be found by selecting the Profile tab in the lower right corner). Many thanks.

I can't turn it back on,

@MonsieurVélo this is still unexpected behavior. I'm curious if you or others are continuing to experience this. Can you please confirm that the behavior below is what you are experiencing? Thanks!

    • In Profile > Settings > you tap the 'Hide completed' slider to set it to OFF (grey, not orange slider bar)
    • On the Explore map you now see ALL Adventures, whether you have completed them or not (expected)
    • You go back to Profile > Settings > try to tap the 'Hide completed' slider back ON, but the slider does not move and the bar remains grey? (not expected)

an old profile picture is shown

Interesting. Can you clarify, is the old profile picture the 1st screenshot?
This information will still be helpful:

    • On the first screenshot, which Adventure Lab® app version is being used?
      • Version 1.3.10, build 2371
    • On the first screenshot, what phone operating system is being used?
      • Android 10 on an Huawei Mate 20 Pro (EMUI-Version 11.0.0)
    • On the second screenshot, which Adventure Lab® app version is being used?
      • 1.3.10; build 2371
    • On the second screenshot, what phone operating system is being used?
      • Android 11 on a Galaxy A32 5G
  6. @MonsieurVélo Thank you for the screenshots. I am assuming that you took these from two different phones or from two different versions of the app.

    Can you please provide the following information;

    • On the first screenshot, which Adventure Lab® app version is being used?
      • version information from the app can be found by selecting the More tab in the lower right corner, scroll to the bottom, then select Version info
    • On the first screenshot, what phone operating system is being used? (example: iOS 12.5.5)
    • On the second screenshot, which Adventure Lab® app version is being used?
    • On the second screenshot, what phone operating system is being used? (example: iOS 12.5.5)
  7. Greetings. The Google Play Store and Apple App Store now have Adventure Lab® app version 1.3.10 available. This should correct the Activity screen issues many of you described in this thread. Many thanks for your patience. We are excited that you're creating and playing Adventures.

This does appear to be a bug on Firefox after a recent update we made. We will investigate this.

@halhaland others that experienced this bug, thank you for bringing this up (with screenshot @barefootjeff, very helpful). A fix has been deployed and you should now see the Activity reviews of your own Adventure on Firefox as expected.

  10. Hello all,

There was a bug affecting "Public" Adventure visibility on the explore map. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This has been fixed, and any Adventures that were set to "Public" during the affected time period are now visible as expected.

There has been an update to resolve the "Custom Access Code" error, details below.

The "Custom Access Code" portion of the Adventure Lab builder has been removed in order to prevent errors of the kind discussed in this thread. This means that Adventure creators no longer see this portion of the Adventure building process and now have automatically-generated links that can be used for sharing Adventures.

There are a limited number of creators that had previously created a "Custom Access Code" that experienced errors. For these Adventures, we have updated the QR code and URL to remove the "Custom Access Code" and they are now automatically-generated QR code and URL links.

Update: the team at HQ has completed the work needed to ensure that all Adventures are now available via their deep link, both on mobile devices and in web browsers. For those Adventures that had custom access codes with characters that broke their links, these Adventures now have automatically-generated GUID url's, just as all other Adventures now have. Many thanks for your patience.

    tablet

Hi @fam2go, if I understand your comment correctly, you are trying to use the Adventure Lab app on a tablet? Because many iPads and tablets don't have GPS, Geocaching HQ is not officially supporting them in our app builds, but there is no way for us signify this in the app store. If this is an issue you are experiencing on a mobile device please let us know in the Help Center and be sure to include:

    • The area of the app causing the issue (Example: the Map page, List page, etc.)
    • The version information from the app
      • Android, select the Menu button in the upper left corner, scroll to the bottom, then select Version info
      • iPhone, select the More tab in the lower right corner, scroll to the bottom, then select Version info

I was awarded an Adventure Lab credit a couple of months ago. I'm now sitting at the location I've chosen, attempting to build the A.L., and my credit is nowhere to be seen! What happened???

Greetings! You do still have an active credit that you may use to create an Adventure. This Help Center article has all of the information you need. Congrats, and have fun creating!

But, I still have just one unused credit pending.  Why do I keep receiving duplicate notices?

    @The Leprechauns Sincere apologies for the confusion here. We continue update the credit process in order to meet our efforts of making Adventure creation accessible to as many different creators as possible. Some of the tools used to support this process are one step behind us. Earlier this year, when we discovered the confusion, we updated the email to 2nd and 3rd credit recipients to include the statement;

"We have randomly selected geocachers from those who meet the criteria and are in locations we are targeting. You were chosen as part of this process. This may be a new credit, or one that we have previously provided that has not yet been used."

Thank you for your patience as we work on tools to support Adventure Lab, both the "behind the scenes" work that affects things like credit communications and the more exciting features that enhance play within the app.

  15. Hello adventurers,

As part of the next phase of the evolution of the Adventure Lab platform, Geocaching HQ has made some updates to the Adventure Lab credit process, detailed below.

    • We are still selecting geocachers regularly from those who meet the criteria and are in geographic locations we are targeting for Adventures. Our efforts are to make Adventure creation accessible to as many different creators as possible.
    • Our first priority is to make sure that Premium members who qualify receive at least one credit. Please use the Adventure request form to request a credit (all credits include up to 5 Locations, unless granted as a business partnership). If you own multiple Geocaching.com accounts, please apply with only one account.
    • We have removed deadlines for the creation of Adventures. Adventure creation, and Public Adventures, have no expiration date, although if there are issues they may be turned off at the discretion of Geocaching HQ.
    • We occasionally provide opportunities to receive additional second and third credits. These are based on a random selection (with geographic distribution) and will take place at least two times in the first half of 2021. If you complete your Adventure and make it Public by March 31 or by June 302021, you have the chance to be selected to create an additional Adventure.
    • For those who receive an email about being awarded an additional credit, this may be a new credit, or one that we have previously provided that has not yet been used.
    • At this time, we are unable to transfer Adventure Lab credits between accounts. If you do not plan to use your credit, you can simply leave it on your account. No action is necessary. If you know someone who wants a credit, please encourage them to check their eligibility and submit a request through the Adventure request form.
    • There is no need for users to write in to request Adventure credits or deadline extensions. It is a random selection and there are no deadlines. We are currently unable to fulfill requests outside this format.

We hope this is helpful, and thank you for your patience as we continue fine-tuning Adventure Lab.

the list stops when it gets to 12 km. The map shows them all but is not very useful for seeing what my closest one is that I have not completed. It would also be useful to blend out the ones I have already completed.

Hello there! The team at HQ is currently working on Adventure Lab pagination and is aware of this bug you mention. It is being worked on, and we hope to have a fix soon. Regarding the feature suggestion, of hiding the map pins and listing of completed Adventures, this idea is recorded and we have not forgotten about it. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we fine-tune Adventure Lab.

    My questions are:
    1) why do you allow downloading journals content over API to players that did not complete the adventure? It makes no sense to me.

    2) I suspect you are aware of this, so why do you not warn adventure lab creators not to put bonus numbers to journals

As arisoft mentioned above, this Help Center article states "If you would like to have a connection between your Adventure and Geocaching.com, you may place an optional Mystery Cache as a bonus cache for completing your Adventure." Bonus caches are not an official part of the Adventure Lab platform. Regarding the API information that is available:

    • The API itself is indeed public because the apps need to access it from the public internet.
    • Many of the API methods are accessible for folks who are not logged in because the Adventure Lab app allows some functionality to users who have not created accounts.
    • HQ has no intention of allowing third parties to use the API.

I hope this helps answer your questions. Cheers!

    I found them

I understand, thank you for the clarification Hans. As noted in my update, there will need to be action taken by the creator in order for you, as a player, to have a valid link to the Adventure.
"For creators who encountered "Custom Access Code" error messages, you can expect the following:

    • The QR code and/or URL to your Adventure will need to be re-shared.
    • The old QR code and URL will lead to a "not found" message."
