  1. Groundspeak has created an app for the iPhone. Search geocaching in the app store.
  2. Don't forget to mention the Geocaching app for the iPhone. That's how I roll. No GPSr.
  3. hey guys anyone want to give mine a shot? My name pretty much says it all. I'm from michigan.
  4. I found some flat camo paint specifically designed for plastic. I have had very good luck with it.
  5. Thats exactly how I do it. A lot of people want to bash the compass. You have to figure that the iPhone has no compass. What you are seeing is base soley on your heading. If you stop or switch directions it flips out. I have found Google Maps to be extremely accurate and having satelitte images in the palm of your hand is priceless.
  6. There are no topo maps currently availabe however there is google maps satellite images. As for the things to come. The best part about the iPhone is that both apple and developers are constantly adding updates to the current model. Unless there is a major hardware update your phone should stay current for awhile.
  7. I have been using my iPhone as my sole GPSr for upwards of 75 finds now. I do things slightly differently. First I use GC.com app to find the cache, read description, etc... Then I use Google maps to find the cache. I have found it to be VERY accurate, and have never had a problem with the accuracy. One thing to keep in mind is that when you are using the compass and you get the +/- 56 that seems to me to be the minimum. (Many apps on the phone never get lower than that.) It doesn't mean that it IS that far off just that it could be. This sales rep is way behind on his training! Since the launch of iPhone 3G it has had a real GPS chip. The original model used Cell/WiFi positioning. In my opinion the iPhone is one of the best tools this sport has seen. I also know from an inside source that there are even bigger things to come. Edited to fix Grammer
  8. At the begining of bow season here in Michigan I was hunting a cache on state land.(GC15QW6) I was lookind down at my GPSr and didn't notice that I was standing a few feet from a live injured doe. I called the DNR and they said they would send someone out. Apparently they did not. As I was getting the cache # I saw this log from 12 days later. "TFTC! Note: for anyone planning on doing this cache in the next few days with children or weak stomachs; there was a decaying deer about 25 yards away from this cache. I am contacting DNR as it was just off the walking trail."
  9. OK so what if this is a commercial site meant to make money? Good for the founders that saw a niche and ran with it. Is Bill Gates a jerk for charging for Windows? No. Is Ebay wrong for charging listing fees? No. If you don't want to support the site then don't. You are still free to play. And by the way it isn't GC.com that chooses to make a cache members only. It is the person that lists the cache. I really don't care how much Jeremy and others are making its none of my business. If the site is ever publicly traded, and you buy in, then you can concern yourself.
  10. Think about it a movie is $10 these days, and only gives you 2 hours of enjoyment. I cache at least 6 hours a week, there for i feel i owe much more money.
  11. I have no problem shelling out $30 a year for such a great hobby. I think of it more as support for the GC community than anything else.
  12. I think if it were up to alot of peope in this thread every container would be a bright orange 5 gallon bucket, camoed with one woodchip, and placed in a field.
  13. Hey buddy. I recently read that they are safe to use again ang that the studies were wrong...
  14. I am currently only using an iPhone. Who else does this?

  17. The iPhone is without a doubt the best phone for geocaching. The GPS works well and Groundspeak even supports it with a fantastic application. I don't even own a GPS just my phone.
  18. Wow I am really impressed with your commitment to making this app perfect. I have already sent my request.
