  1. UK Cache Mag is returning to print editions with our next one being issue no 50!
  2. I use the term "our" in relation to us as cachers and how we have accumulated them....
  3. It seems many cachers who are premium member are squirreling our favourite points. Are we too lazy to award them? Are the quality caches fewer and far between? Would it be an idea to prompt us to use up our allocated points before more are issued? Perhaps we should cap our allocated lot at say 20? What are your thoughts?
  4. When we do a search in homepage for caches based on home location, it would be good if the default was caches not found, not owned. Saves me going in an setting this every time I do a search. Apologies if this has already been mentioned / requested. Cheers, Adam aka UK Cache Mag
  5. for info on UK Cache Mag email adam@ukcachemag.com. Tell me more about the geotour please.
  6. Just in the process of arranging for UK Cache Mag to be available on digital platforms. Watch this space.
  7. only just spotted this thread - UK Cache mag is still here and now onto issue number 8, with the next one out in just over a month. It is growing all the time, and is very much a community magazine, thanks to all the cachers sharing articles and stories etc.
  8. This was issue 6. Has been out since April lol
  9. Just finishing it this week then passing on to proof reader. Should have it first week of June
  10. You are quite right to have asked - I should have emailed when I got your order and let you know of the delay.
  11. Hi, I have to hold hands up and say I have not posted it yet. I have been away in Portugal and got back recently. Its on the to do list for today. Sorry for delay.
  12. thanks for the tips, I was looking to used the calendar under the community as a way to quickly search by dates as well - perhaps I am just being awkward? For example I wanted to pick a date at weekend, click events and get a short list...
  13. I often look for events to attend in the UK. As we are at the end of the list is there a way that events can be filtered by home co-ordinates or by home country the same as when you try and find a cache - without having to run a pq? If not please could it be considered? Cheers, Adam - UKCACHEMAG
  14. Hi folks, Here is the link to a recent bit that was featured on the ITV news about geocaching. I was involved with the filming as where the Smith family from up near Nottingham. http://www.itv.com/news/central/2013-02-26/the-worlds-fastest-growing-outdoor-pursuit-geocaching/
  15. heres my contribution then....... Found this when out at a motorway service station
  16. I thought id hoik this up the list again as its still something im keen to look at. I think with the growing populartity of caching then there could be a market for this. I dont expect to make money out of it, but do it more for the fun of it and putting something back into the hobby. If anybody in interested in helping review cahce trails - submit articles and letters etc then please contact me. I have been chatting to a printer and think I may be able to get a good deal on this.
  17. id def be up for some kind of mega event in midlands and helping to make it work.
  18. saw a link to "dead drops"..... this could be a fun kind of cache.... Wonder if it would need to be a virtual? Perhaps some kind of file on there that gives an instruction on how to log...perhaps with a task to do. You could then add you name to an electronic log book stored on the usb stick? http://deaddrops.com/
  19. well i signed up for Wales Mega.... now who can i target? any suggestions on best place to stay?
  20. thought id bump this as its now entering the camping season......
  21. Think its time i got myself booked in to ALL the camping events i can then! Ladies you can check out my travel bug tattoo!
  22. I wonder if they would have a singles section at Wales Mega lol
  23. Sorry about the green - i have copied and pasted below and asked a mod to try and help out Hi Adam, Great to talk to you. In case I don’t make it tomorrow evening can you please pass on the following to the group… We are beginning to place caches on our reserves. Our geocache username is ‘warwickshirewildlife’ so any you see posted by this will be ‘official’ Trust caches. Some caches will have treasure in and some are likely to be virtual, requiring a photo to be taken and uploaded as proof of a find. With regards to other placing caches on our reserves we would like to ask everyone to please follow geocaching rules and ask us first. Whilst we may say yes, there is likely to be the odd condition such as ‘must be next to the footpath’ and it’s possible that there may be areas on the reserves that are completely out of bounds. Also, we don’t own all our reserves so we may have to refer to contracts and speak to the landowner ourselves about locating any caches. The first cache going out will ask people to leave their postcode. This is partly due to the fact that it is going out as part of the Sowe Valley Project which is an Access to Nature funded project. Postcodes of those who visit the cache can help us with the monitoring of the project and supports our target figures. Please, please can folk leave their postcodes when they find it! Also, if future Trust caches ask for postcodes, then it will probably be for a similar reason… The Sowe Valley Project is a three year project running until August 2012. It’s funded mainly by Access to Nature which is Big Lottery money administered by Natural Engand. The idea of the project is to get folk out and about into the green space along the River Sowe in Coventry. We’re running a mixture of activities including volunteer days, kids activities, training sessions, community events and healthy walks. If it’s ok with you, I’d like to send you the next volunteer programme to circulate for everyone to see. If anyone would like more information on the project and things we’re getting up to, please don’t hesitate to contact me – details below. With reference to the idea of the monthly meetings/gatherings, if I don’t make it tomorrow evening, I’m sure I could make another one at a later date. Also, after talking to a couple of colleagues, it’s possible that we may have an idea for a geocache event that could tie into one of your gatherings. Let me see how the idea progresses and I’ll get back to you… Cheers Lucy Lucy Hawker Sowe Valley Training & Education Officer Warwickshire Wildlife Trust Brandon Marsh Nature Centre Brandon Lane Coventry CV3 3GW Tel: 024 7630 2912 Mobile: 07818 579302 Email: lucy.hawker@wkwt.org.uk Web: www.warwickshire-wildlife-trust.org.uk
