+1 Why does it take so long to fix such a small, but very annoying bug?
-
Hi, I was wondering when one would finally add OSM support. The current maps are far from adequate and very useless for ALC "off road". OSM on- or (preferrable) offline support would solve a lot of issues. Another burden is the fixed position of the maps. It would be more useful that the map rotates towards the direction one is navigating. Centering and zooming to the destination would be also an asset. Cheers, Eddy

En wat met België? Sporten in de buitenlucht en zonder contact is opnieuw toegelaten met maximaal 2 personen vanaf 4 mei.

Why is there still no official reaction or solution for this issue?

I agree. I have fixed the small icons with implementing custom icons and symbols from https://www.gpsrchive.com/GPSMAP/GPSMAP 66/index.htm -

Pls check https://www.gpsrchive.com/GPSMAP/GPSMAP 66/index.htm where things are extensively discussed and one has an overview what the updates and the open issues are. -
That would be indeed the way to go. I think there are far more urgent things Garmin needs to fix and the chipset isn't one of them.
-
Strange that there is no direct download link yet. Asked on the gpsrchive forum a status update.

Je suppose que Clyde ne lit pas le français, sauf avec un traducteur en ligne. Quoi qu'il en soit, il vous suffit de le télécharger ici. C'est un freeware maintenant, donc pas de soucis pour la licence.

Geocaching Etiquette and FTF Logging
searchjaunt replied to Fluxuated's topic in General geocaching topics
I don't see why there is fuss about something that isn't part of geocaching nor recognised by Groundspeak (although the latter is rather ambiguous about it). A FTF, as with other frills in this 'game', doesn't say a thing about your 'qualifications' as a cacher either. -
Groundspeaks not communicating

Did you try sending an appeal: https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=97&pgid=476? That will be more effecient than posting in this forum. -
Looks like we just broke 3 million caches worldwide!
searchjaunt replied to KBLAST's topic in General geocaching topics
Is drawing things in the ridiculous with Martians - just because there is a difference of 82 cachers on a total of > 910000 - such a good sign of tact and politeness? Again, the figures are freely available on the site of an authorized developer, so fed with official gc.com data. Pls send your complaints to them. I'm more interested in the overall picture. -

How is there a difference between cachers "from WORLD" and cachers "in WORLD"? Are Martians caching now? I don't see why it's so hard to understand that the stats are country based, but one can also select all countries/world. The figures are the in/from figures are in that case identical. -

One needs to read things properly. There is a line indicating the status for Jan 1st till that day for both years. So no heavily tilting appearances. -

For the record, I didn't create these stats. They are online on a site from an authorized developer, so fed with official gc.com data. Active is imo somebody have left some trace on gc.com with a log. World needs to be seen as a country, like cachers from a country and cachers in a country (but not necessary from that country). -

Maybe these stats put things more in perspective: -
Why don't you look at the guidelines? https://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance

Maybe a strange question, but I don't find any closure. Is the date/time function in Urwigo OS/machine based or satellite based? I need to need to know when I test on date/time for certain actions, things can be influenced by changing date/time on the smartphone itself.

What about using the button "GPX file", which is only a few millimeters left to the "Send to My GPS" button and putting the result in the /Garmin/GPX/ folder on your GPS or SD card?

Tighten Nuvi Mount Ball & Socket?
searchjaunt replied to MtnHermit's topic in GPS technology and devices
Hi, Have a look at these mounts. I use it for years with different garmin models now and it - it contrary to the standard mounts - fell off. Cheers Eddy -
Pluralistic ignorance - or even worse bystander apathy - are typical symptoms for herd behaviour. As I'm not willing to comply to this nor rectify my 'asocial' behaviour each time. Hence I consider this (and other threads concerning these kind of matters) as closed.

Correct coords for all cache types - why?
searchjaunt replied to Team Microdot's topic in General geocaching topics
This is technical wise a no brainer, so no need to applaud for it. There are plenty of others things many people - see the many threads - are asking (for years) to get fixed or implemented remaining unanswered. -
Being adults does also mean that one doesn't need to swallow like a foie gras goose. Despite you apparently don't accept everything either in some cases, you seem to show little understanding to others.

The other listing argument is rather pointless since: 1. GS has a monopoly. Other listings are non significant/non existent in certain/most countries 2. ECs are only published on gc.com As said in other threads, souvenirs are no promotional but a marketing tool (hook model) for GS in order to sell. The promo mails after a souvenir WE only confirm that. I also said that EC don't need promotion and souvenirs generate unwanted traffic. Compare it to mass tourism where ECs can only cope ecotourism. But that thread is already is closed and thus no need to rake up that again.
