  1. Correction to the above post. The do show up zoomed out but only as far out as the alerts are set. For example, mine are set to .5 miles. Therefore, when I am .5 miles away, the cache icon will pop up and an audio ding will be heard. OT: This worked WONDERS in the field. I tried the alerts in the field today for the first time! It was great knowing you were getting close to a cache you may otherwise have passed up.
  2. They show up on the Nuvi 500 but I believe that is because I have them loaded through the geocaching icon that is standard on a 500 and not because of the macro. I have the macro loaded for the cool alerts! So basically, I see the boxes and have access to all the info and get the dings and tourguide popups as I'm approaching them. VERY COOL!
  3. oh yay! I figured there had to be an easy way. Thank you so much! Edit: Worked perfectly!!!
  4. This may be a dumb question but is there any way to download the geocache info into the geocache "section" of my nuvi 500 in bulk? I have been doing it one by one using the "send to gps" which gives me the desired result but I can only do one at a time. I also have used gsak and pq but they go in as POI which doesn't utilize all the built in gecaching extras of a 500. I also have used the nuvi macro which is AWESOME for the alerts that I was unable to get otherwise. So can anyone tell me if there's a way to download many caches at a time into the correct geocache section of a nuvi 500? Thanks so much!
  5. Yay! With a great suggestion from pilot, I ran my nuvi 500 as a 200 series (no W) and downloaded sox.exe and wahlah! I have alerts and tourguide popups for both macros! No little lips and megaphone, but like I told pilot, who needs lips when you have great macros like this! Thank you so much!!

  7. I've been using this for a while now but have been unable to get the tourguide function to work on my nuvi 500. Has anyone been successful using their 500? Thanks! I've also tried the jj macro as well but still no tourguide.
  8. I've been playing around with this for a few days but cannot seem to get the tourguide function to work. I have a nuvi 500. The POIs are loaded in my GPS just fine along with all the info but as far as the alerts (visual pop ups and audio dings) I don't have them at all. I have it set to tourguide(radius) with a 2500 ft alert distance in the macro. I ran the POI loader manually the first time as well. I drove up to several unfound geocache locations that should have alerts with them with no results. Does anyone have any ideas? Edit: I have all the lastest software updates. Are the proximity alerts (when working properly) supposed to appear in Tools-->settings-->proximity points? Mine are still blank. Maybe it only works on a 500 in proximity mode as suggested above? Although ideally I'd like to use the tourguide function as I'm not always on the exact road of the caches.
