  5. My favorite Christmas memory involves three special gifts. I must have been around ten years old that year. We had gone to my grandmothers house in the country on Christmas Eve as usual. My little sister and I loved to shake the packages under the tree and try to guess what they were. One from my grandmother really had me stumped. What glorious rattling it produced. My grandmother made a wonderful Christmas dinner, her best china on a beautifully set table with those darn glass teaspoons with different color spoons. I always loved those teaspoons. Coffee and boiled custard with cake was always served after dinner(I think my uncle had a drop or two of boubon in his custard.) Then off to the livingroom and with the coal fire burning in the grate, we opened our gifts. My mystery gift was a Scrabble game. Back then it was made with wooden tiles, thus the wonderful rattle. I still love that game. That Christmas was not the norm as we usually had fairly mild winters. Not that year. When we looked outside, and it had been snowing. Snowing like we had never seen here before. My mother was really scared to try to drive us home. It was only about ten miles back to town but this was a snow storm like we had never seen before. Oh no, were we to miss Santa Claus? My cousin volunteered to drive my mothers car home and my uncle followed in his car to take them back to the country. It was a very hairy and tense ride home, but we arrived safe and sound. We got to sleep in our warm beds and wake up Christmas morning at home. My second gift was one more year of believing in Santa. How could I not? My family went to great risk to make sure we did not miss his visit and when I woke up the next morning I discovered a brand new bike that I knew my mom could not afford. My bellef in Santa was renewed. You see my dad had died a couple of years before and I was just old enough that Christmas to understand the struggle my mom had to raise us alone. No way she could afford to buy me that brand new bike I wanted. So my gifts were my wonderful memory of Christmas at Grandmothers house, the ride home, and a extension of my belief of Santa( ie, one more year of being a kid). i wish I could thank my relatives for that wonderful Christmas memory but they are all gone now, but that Christmas and what they gave me will always live in my memories.
  6. . Package Received!: Yes My package arrived Saturday. Sorry to just get around to posting. I opened my package right away. Inside I found a cute gingerbread man card, a geocaching bag, a redbird bell ornament,(our state bird) a tin of special German chocolates, and three very nice coins tucked in a velvet bag. The coins in the bag were a Morpho Butterfly coin, a Rivercity and Team Moagy coin, and my favorite from my seeking list, a Merry Christmas River City coin. That one just put a big smile on my face. The ice-skating bears are so cute. Thank you Rivercity. Thank you dhenninger. And Merry Christmas everyone.
  7. I grew up hearing the local stories of the Bell Witch. Our town historian tells the tale every Halloween. Maybe since I live only about 20 miles from the Bell Witches first haunting grounds a visit will be made near me.
  8. Thanks Tennessee Jed for the adoption of the Prime Meridian coin!
  9. I would be love to adopt another coin if not one else speaks up! I think I have 3 that are still traveling and two or three that have gone missing. Thanks for the opportunity Tennessee Jed.

  11. The Ginkgo is also my favorite tree. Learned about in high school many many years ago. I would really love to add one of these to my collection.
  12. Erin I have also reached 249 and hope to get my 250th at an event Saturday afternoon. The event (GC20D3H) is being held to welcome home a local cacher, surf89, from Iraq. Besides being honored for serving his country he is well known and held in high esteem for his unique and inspiring caches in this area. Can't think of a better way of reaching this personal milestone.
  13. Email sent. Thanks for the cointest. Enjoyed reading the articles.
  14. Got mine too. Would love to trade for an antique silver.
  15. My coin The Sun is still available for adoption. Will adopt it out to the first email.
  16. I would like to thank Tennessee Jed for his generosity and the 2golfers for adopting an Alabama coin out to me. Can't wait to watch it travel! I would like to Pay It Forward by offering one of my coins for adoption. I would love to adopt it out to someone that doesn't have any travelers or like me have had most of them go missing. You can email or PM me if you would like to adopt a coin.
  17. "Sookie Sookie" by Steppenwolf or Sookie Sue as in the lyrics.
  18. I would love to adopt one too if any are left. My travelers haven't done to well. They keep disappearing. Maybe I will have better luck with one of yours. Thanks for the offer!

  22. Here are my mission pics. Sorry for the poor quality but my camera quit working and I had to use my cellphone again. The rest is just my poor skills at photo taking and editing. Anyway I came home Sunday from a weekend of caching at the Barren River Event to find a box waiting for me. It was full of all kinds of goodies. Lots of candy, a pair of socks, Halloween stickers, a can of silly string, and a can of candy corn soda, and lots of cool coins. I especially love the Grim Reaper. There was no card and the return address said from my Secret Boo, but I recognized the address. Thanks so much Penny and Kona. You did too way much but I love it all. Thank you Sunsetmedowlark for hosting this great mission.
  23. Jimmy Johnson Carl Edwards Matt Kenseth Good luck evey one and thanks for the cointest.
