  1. You might be crazy, at least about this All kidding aside, what you seek would be nice to find, but sounds a little far fetched and probably even over kill. I'm using an Oregon 450 GPSr and I'm thinking you could use this as your central repository for everything you want to collect, but it wouldn't be able to actually collect all of it. For example, you can store pictures on it, but it doesn't actually have a camera. You can store waypoints with it and upload topo maps and birds eye view maps (like google). We always bring a digi cam and a flip video recorder in case we find something worth documenting in either still or video picture. Good luck with this one!
  2. I have to agree with Lennu. $30 is a great value considering all the fun there is to be had with this. None of the fun is possible without the site and all of the volunteer staff. If $30 is out of budget, that's fine...I went 2 years before I decided to pay.
  3. I would consider myself to be a rookie cacher. I started about 2 years ago, but only recently started caching with frequency. I've found 37 so far and I log all of my DNFs. Seems as if I'm finding about 70% of what I go look for. I never assume that the ones I don't find are missing, but I can't say that doesn't cross my mind, LOL. I'm asking you experienced cachers: How bad is 70%? The most difficult cache I've found was a 4 star, and I have to admit I found that with a bit of luck. It was a log hollowed out with a bison inserted. There have been quite a few caches of less than 3 star difficulty that I could not find. These forums are helping me improve my geosenses, but not quick enough LOL.
  4. I bought the Oregon 450 about a month ago at REI in New Jersey for $349. I'm very pleased with the unit. I have found 15 caches so far. That is a small sample size, but it has been dead on even in heavy woods. I'm not able to compare it to the 62s though. Paperless Geocaching is the way to go and the 450 achieves that also. I'm a very difficult person to please...I have no regrets with this purchase.
  5. My wife and I were camping at Harmony Ridge (terrible campground by the way) in Branchville, NJ last month. We took a drive up to the top of Sunrise Mountain, which is said to be the highest point in Sussex County, and saw a mama bear with a few cubs on the way up AND on the way down. It was amazing; we got video of them.
