  1. "lock on road" and "map fields" are 2 bugs I noticed in firmware 3.00. If you set lock on road in a profile (ex: automotive), It will be set too back on "geocaching" profile. If you change number of displayed field over map in a profile, change will be report in all profiles.
  2. I put 4 PQ GPX with a total of 3500 caches + additional waypoints (8 GPX files). So, I think, no problem this week for caching. Etrex parses the 8 files in several minutes. But, when I would add another waypoint directly with Etrex30. It said me that memory waypoints is full. No problem, I deleted the 8 big GPX files and put only 4 simple GPX for the 4 caches I'll make today. Turn GPSr on, 20 minutes later, the green bar (loading waypoints) is always at 50%. Restart and Etrex turn ON with 3 caches. aaaargh! Finally, I replace the last GPX with another downloaded cache file and I finally get the 4 caches ! Morality : 3500 caches put in 5 minutes. Replace them with 4 caches : 30 minutes !
  3. Long, very long before OS recognize Device but I don't have to deconnect/reconnect.
  4. I found a better response (waypoint, selection, GO TO, OFF road is more speedy than 2.90 version). Some screens can now be quit with "Back" Button. some cache today, I noticed no problem.
  5. Garmin Express announce a new version for my Etrex 30 : version 3.00 Changes made from version 2.90 to 3.00: Fixed several issues with sorting photos in the photo viewer application. Fixed issue with prompted routing. Fixed issue with saving a track's 'show on map' status across a power cycle. Fixed issue with displaying tracks on the map after performing an area calculation. Fixed issue with BirdsEye imagery's status not being saved to each profile. Fixed issue with tempe sensor's status not being saved to each profile (eTrex 30 devices). Fixed potential shutdown when viewing certain tracks or routes in German or Russian. Fixed possible issue with reviewing a track's information. Fixed possible issue with searching for an address in cities with extremely long names. http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5553
  6. Thanks a lot. I've got good result with both options. My Preference goes to Garmin Macro Method. I've a little PC for GSAK and version 7 runs like a charm (I manage a database with full France). I don't want to learn another version a this time.
  7. Hi, I currently use a 60csx with the latest GSAK 7 version. I will acquire a Etrex 30 today. I don't plan to upgrade to the eight version. How to export from GSAK to Etrex 30 ? I'm thinking that GSAK 7 doesn't explicitly support this newer GPSr. If you have this couple, which settings do you use to export from GSAK to Etrex 10/20/30 ? Simon
  8. Hoping that European customers will see something this time. Never see an eXplorist GC ....
  9. ca marche en Europe avec des satellites EGNOS. En activant le WAAS, même en Europe, ton GPS sera plus précis. Ensuite il faut surement que tu fasses un waypoint avec échantillonnage / moyenne. Ca doit exister sur oregon.
  10. From the Magellan's support FAQ : I notice that basemap is worldwide and fixed ! I'm european, magellan offer was very limited with triton. user can upload GPX & pictures but no new map. I appreciate power managment but a openstreetmap support would be very good.
  11. Would be nice if Mitac/Magellan/Thales/MLR offer us a real teasing of their new product with some pictures.
  12. I would only point that the backdoor run only on windows computer and is passive (wait order from internet). A firewall wil block incoming connection on a big part of computer. Drivers with the backdoor are available for download since 2007.
  13. If you have the Energizer Duo USB battery charger and if you installed the widget program on Widows and if you don't have a firewall on your computer. Please have a look to ...
  14. You can't create file larger than 4Gb on a FAT or FAT32 formated card. It's the file size limit and no firmware can fix that limit (due to file system). The 60csx support SD and SDHC cards. SD 1Mb -> 4Gb SDHC 4Gb -> 32Gb
  15. They are no free topo maps for France like some countries. IGN sells this kind of data even if it's a public establishment. If you want free, go to the OpenStreetMap project. Here, they are some garmin pre-build map for France with alternative TOPO information but don't expect all information available in Garmin Topo France v2 (with IGN data). I can encourage anyone to participate to this project. Free topo map for France : http://fredericbonifas.free.fr/osm/garmin.html (you can send a little mail to thank Frederic Bonifa)
  16. Non, you have a mediatek (m) chipset which use his latest firmware (2.00m). Only sirf chipset (s) must be 3.00s. Garmin switched from Sirf to Mediatek this year.
  17. Mass storage seems work again (bug introduced into 3.90!) What bugs introduce version 4.00 ? My versions history : Version 3.70: Software Version 3.70 GPS SW Version 2.90 (Sirf3) (Work OK but don't support map>2gb) Version 3.90: Software Version 3.90 GPS SW Version 3.00s (Sirf3) (Work erratic and support map>2gb / exe upgrade file contains a very buggy firmware) Version 4.00: Software Version 4.00 GPS SW Version 3.00s (Sirf3) (Seems to be OK)
  18. En remerciant au passage le travail des reviewers, bienvenue au p'tit nouveau !
  19. They release firmware to provide compatibility between GPSr and new map products for example. The last Streetpilot Colormap firmware was release several years after product was flagged discontinued.
  20. Lastest version of easyGPS continues to perfectly run under windows 2000 (XP & vista only officially).
  21. Nag Screen seems to be the most tested fonctionnality. html is empty here.
  22. Very good Open Street Map coverage on Toulouse.... http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=43.5914&...;layers=B000FTF Can be download for Garmin here : http://fredericbonifas.free.fr/osm/garmin.html (100% free, you can thank the web master !)
  23. I buy this month a 60csx from Germany (I'm French). Unit comes with 3.70/3.00 firmwares. I did yesterday the 3.90/3.00s upgrade. I noticed issues : - Lost of 'D'ifferential on satellite status screen - Cold start takes more time to get a fix (!) - 'Mass storage' mode turn unit off 50% of times I noticed improve : none !
  24. I'm european. I do the same comparison between 60csx and 400t. I owned a Magellan 315 a Sportrak and owns a Eagle Explorer plus an IGN'Evadeo wich use a touch screen technology like Oregon. After speaking, reading a lot of forums and try the both units I decide to buy the 60csx. Here are my conclusions : + Experience, I meet a French geocacher (1000+) that switched from 60 to Oregon 300 : he's not happy with screen visibility with sunny weather and easy screen scratching. He wants go back to gpsmap. I do exactly same reproach to the IGN unit ! + I think that touch screen technology is not optimum outside and good old keys are the best way to manipulate the device without error. + 60csx reception and accuracy are best - 60csx is bigger, offer less resolution screen than oregon - Oregon permits paperless geocaching
  25. Please note that European Color firmware is WAAS safe. I use the WAAS fix method and find good satellite IDs in firmware. Sportrack is a very good GPSr IMHO.
