  1. Could be an idea, but until this new feature came out, I would just write the corrected coords in the notes section and then create a waypoint with the final GZ. Now that you can correct coords, you could just write in the notes, SOLVED, and then you'll know... This might be a good idea for most, but I don't think i would use it. You can't change coords from, so I still just write the corrected coords in the notes section.
  2. From my searches that cache is not published?
  3. A better/my translation of this is: Should we first hide the cache or should we first prefill the form? How do we know the ID of the cache? I just fixed up the part that google translated as 'as we know', which is a direct translation of the words, but not what he was trying to say...(I understand a fair bit of Portuguese) Well, my answer is that you should first read the guidelines, then hide the cache, and then fill out the form. When you go and fill out the form, a unique ID will be assigned to your cache. The code will begin with GC... Happy hiding
  4. Condorito

    iPad

i use it for about 80% of my caching activities.... I really don't find it bulky, it only weighs like 650 grams and you can put it in your backpack when you are not using it Keep in mind that it does use a lot of battery...
  5. For Q#1 I will say worldcaching as they send worldwide... I have bought stuff from them and have been pretty happy with their service. They also sell a variety of geocions but i dont knowif they sell special ones... For Q#2 im not sure...
  6. I'll support this as i noticed that it is missing and i'm sure some people would use it often...
  7. ummmmm - my town has about 1300 souls. 20 caches would dominate but 1 mile later there would be plenty of room. Exactly... Move down the road 1 mile and hide a cache there. That's what legs(or cars,or bikes, etc.) are for.
  8. Anyway, how small is your town? 20 caches .1 of a mile apart leaves heaps of space even if the town you live in is miniature I live in a town that has less than 200,000 people and we have around 400 caches. Some have hidden 50 and some have hidden 1... I don't think 20 will cover the while city... .1 of a mile isn't that big a distance IMHO
  9. I'm in Australia and I don't have any problems with gsak... You can add heaps of statistics through macros with gsak, such as badgegen... I also have a I think it's called drunners ranking bar? It gives you a rank in your country...
  10. My first cache was hidden in May 2009, around 9-10 months after i became a member... It is called "The Rock" (see it here) and it has been my most successful cache so far. It is in a place where hardly anyone goes, and it is on top of of a (very) large rock. We live around 35km away form the city, and the rock is near our house. From the top you can see to the city, and you have 360 degree views... It is a really nice place. The terrain to get there is pretty hard, and it has only been found 18 times, but it has 7 fav points, so i'm pretty happy with it. I don't think i will archive it any time soon... It is still going strong... The photos explain it better... Come and find it!
  11. I got my first one yesterday, and i've been wanting one, but i dont think i really tried for any caches... There are a few FTF hounds around here, so it is kind of hard to get FTF, on matter when or where the cache is
  12. Normally i just write down the ones i have found in the Notes app(iPad or iPhone) but i'm sure there is an equivalent for HTC... I do that and write down any tb transactions i make, and then go home and log them online later...
  13. Trust me, it is a problem everywhere.... We have lots of cases like this in Australia...
  14. I use my iPad and haven't had any problems yet. If you look after your things, you shouldn't have more trouble than if you just use it normally. THe gps works with or without internet, but you'll want to save caches to the device if you are going to go outside reception areas, as you need reception to download the cache info. Not sure how the scouts would do, but i myself don't have a GPS... find the devices much more worthwhile... Yes, they have problems, but so do gpsr devices.
  15. Condorito is a South american cartoon figure... He is famous in chile and peru... My dad is from Chile, and so Condorito it was...
  16. I could be wrong, but I thought the system wouldn't correctly handle new TB logs that are back dated. I just tried it out on one of my tbs thts in my possession, made a bogus log on one of my caches on feb 12, then deleted it. worked ok though...
  17. Hi, Welcome to Geocaching! I'm sure you'll have fun and have many great experiences... I just looked at toyvoyagers, and it look pretty similar to Travel Bugs in geocaching... You can have a look at them here... There are hundreds of thousands of trackables circling the globe, so you might find it interesting to help some out on their mission... Enjoy Geocaching!
  18. If I understand you found a cache and there is a Trackable inside it? what you want to do is log the cache as found, and if you want to move the trackable, take it home with you. It has a unique code on it which you put into the text box at geocaching.com/track... Then you log it as retrieved from that cache, and say what you plan to do with it. Then place it in another cache when possible and log it as placed in that cache... This link might help... http://www.geocaching.com/track/howto.aspx Let us know how you go or if you have any more questions...
  19. Sounds cool as... this is funny, just goes to show how some conservationists take things a little too far...
  20. I was just wondering how many of you give a word of thanks to geocachers who move tbs for them without getting them lost. When cachers drop off my tbs, i normally send them an email saying thanks for looking after my tb, and i hope people look afterr your tbs like you looked after mine... Anyone else have a similar habit??? I just thought that it is nice to say thanks that they looked after it. We all know that many cachers send our tbs to extinction, so i just thought it appropriate to thank those who actually moved it and logged it properly
  21. I recommend against following the suggestion of the other response describing how to grab it quick as a bunny and take it back to the cache you put it in, since that just messes up the trip even more than skipping a cache would. I think the poster was saying to post the log with the correct date, and then it wouldnt mess it up at all, it would just add that it had been in that cache on the day it WAS in that cache...
  22. I will +1 this idea, as it would make things easier, and tell you about something you might otherwise miss.
  23. I don't think there is enough demand for something like that. GS doesn't listen when hundreds ask for something... Anyway, I for one, wouldn't use it...
  24. My caching bag is just a schoolbag type bag... It's my bag for everything, work and caching. It's good for me because its kind of works for everything for me...
  25. Okay, I just sent something in to "Contact Geocaching.com" with reference to the cache. If they don't do anything about it, I guess next I'll have to contact the part of the Federal Government who enforces the no caches on wilderness areas. I'm not going to let the reputation of geocaching be ruined just because some place geocaches in fragile areas, and on wilderness area which is against the geocaching rules anyway. There are some cachers who don't want to be associated with caches which ruin our reputation! Can we see the actual cache in question? I think if we had the link we could all see it it would help a lot... And why would GS say no to this cache? The CO could get permission from the national park authority... And anyway, isn't geocaching about finding new places and visiting great hidden gems? If we are going to be so picky, we might as well stop geocaching altogether, as at least one person could find a problem for most geocachers. We might say that people are being encouraged to vandalize when you place a lpc. They might vandalize the lamppost...
