  1. Hmmm not good... Installed it and now Im stuck in the boot screen with the Loading Photos text... and I removed the memory card where the photos were stored...
  2. In my opinion I find that newbies tend play the game-by-the-rules alot more than seasoned cachers. All of the cheating and bad sportsmanship is caused by people that have been caching for awhile.
  3. What to see what a power trail looks like? Check this cache and look at the map... Dont forget to zoom out, way out. http://coord.info/GC2N1FA Anyway I thought powertrails were not allowed?
  4. If it doesnt conform then why was it approved then? If we are going to be fussy about details then it has to go all the way. It was just to give a perspective of what owners are going thru with this particular individual. There never has been so much trouble getting caches published since he/she came around. One has to ask the question, which reviewer has no clue of what they are doing, the previous one that had no issues publishing caches or this one that refuses caches because of details. They both can't be right now can they? I see its just not the folks in the Maritime provinces that are having issues with the reviewer but the Ontario folks as well. I think its only fair to show both sides on the coin. The owners are not the bad guys in this story. When we have someone sitting on a chair deciding for us what is appropriate when I/we have all the work preparing, scouting, making materials, making arrangements, going to locations, placing caches just to get it refused for silly things then yes I think we have the right to 'kick the dogs' and rightfully so.
  5. Folks this is the same individual that everybody loves in New Brunswick. Down here in this beautiful province we still scratch our heads why our reviewers for the Maritime province live in Ontario but thats a different story... All this is humbug... Look at this listing: http://coord.info/GC3072F So big fuss about the name of the restaurant in the title for an event that has existed since 2006 Lets look at the description shall we? The name of the restaurant is named twice despite the observant reviewer saying that it can be named only once. And then we have a picture of pancakes, Im pretty sure theres something commercial about it (this goes back to picture of the empty pizza pan story on another thread). Then we have a picture of the restaurant (Nothing commercial about it) and the cherry (oops, sorry some red juicy fruit) on top of the mix of flour and sugar and eggs a picture and link of the blue letter F. And we are supposed to take this seriously? Bah humbug.
  6. Today I had the pleasant surprise of having an event refused. I had two events set up, one on saturday and another on sunday. The saturday one was approved but with a note saying in the future to avoid putting the name of the place (tims) on the title. The second was declined because I also had the name of the restaurant on the title and also because there was another event in the same town that same day and aparently its called event stacking. The other person one was a breakfast event in the morning and mine was a evening supper event at a different location... Its becoming to be too much hassle to get events and/or caches published in this website. Whats the point of this post? I dont know, just wanted folks to know about it thats all...
  7. I have to admit that I dont understand the comments. What difference would it make to you if I said that Joe favors Jane and to prove it even prseent a cache? How is that going to prove anything for you? You dont know any of the characters, you dont know whats going on on my corner of the world so how are you going to decide if I am right or am I wrong? Actually I believe that asking that question you already made up your mind and nothing I would say would change it. Geocaching is a universal game and Earth is pretty big and people have to realize that things might not work the same way elsewhere. When I read folks here complain about things I dont discard them as just being whiners and losers because I dont know where they are coming from. They have a gripe about something and come here to talk about it not being ridiculed and I respect that. And to stay on topic, to answer the OP question: How close is too close? My answer is : Whatever the reviewer wants it to be. Cheers.
  8. You'd better provide some backup to that statement, my friend. Typically the exact opposite is true. Im sorry, Im not about to plaster names in here. I know the crowd would want nothing more than for me to do that. I see whats going on in my corner of the world that backs up my statement.
  9. It depends on how cosy you are with the reviewer. If you are good chumps you can have two caches within a hair from each other, if not, Mount Everest could be between the two caches but the reviewer will refuse because they are not apart as per the guidelines. And GC is none the wiser. Does GC even know what the reviewers are doing?
  10. Thanks to all that responded to my inquiry... for the others well have a nice day.
  11. Hi Gitchee, Sorry about that but at this time I think its in my interest to keep it private for now. I submited a cache, it was declined by appeals and I still disagree with the decision and want to escalate further. Thats all. Thanks.
  12. Yes that is correct Gitchee. Appeals has rejected my submission and I want to escalate higher and I want to know who can we contact for that. Thanks
  13. Hi, Does anyone know who we can contact when we get stuck with Appeals regarding the approval to publish caches? Thanks.
  14. Define how near? If you mean by the door I would agree with you considering the number of caches that imo are way too close to schools in my area.
  15. I think because it requires a boat (my guess is that not alot of cachers have one) and its an Earthcache. Any reason why a container couldnt be hidden? (Just curious)
  16. This is what really bothers me. Why are people against choice? This question keeps coming up because people want to have the choice of getting whatever number of caches in one PQ for whatever reason. Its called having a choice! Why is this such a hard concept to accept by some folks that automatically gon the defensive and attack the OP? Everybody reasons to have access to that many caches is different. Why not give them the choice?
  17. Wow, I didnt realize I had that many pictures in my unit... 580 pictures, it sure builds up quickly. I wish it had a 5M pixel camera. I checked my unit and it did crash on the first attempt after the 49th press scroll down. Second time it scrolled thru all the picts with no problem. Not sure what to make of it... maybe a problem with one of the pics, or you trying to scroll too fast that it doesnt have time to build the little thumbnail picture or it could be a bug! Oh yeah I have the pics on a 8GB microsd HC card.
  18. Well, in that vain, you could just quit caching altogether. That's guaranteed to keep you out of anyone's audit log as well. I honestly don't see the problem with being on someone's audit log. Can you help me understand this? Explain what the objection you have with it please? How about its nobody business what cache I visit and when? Is that good enough?
  19. How about just get rid of that audit or at least give the option for people to OPT OUT of that? Simple enough and easy to do right and everybody would be happy.
  20. We learn things everyday and I just learned that PMO (Premium members only) cache has a nifty little feature that allows the cache owner to know that you visited their cache page and I think the time as well. Did you know that? I sure didnt and dont remember giving consent either to have my wherebouts on the GC site disclosed to anyone else other than Groundspeak themselves. So how do I go about OPTing OUT of this feature?
  21. It doesnt matter if it bothers me or not, its invasion of privacy. Btw could someone please point me to the place where its indicated that PM owners will be able to see when someone visits their page? Let me rephrase that, then... why would it be an invasion of privacy? You cant see it? Think about it for awhile, it will come to you. Im just waiting for someone to show me where I gave the consent for anyone to be able to see when I visited their cache page?
  22. It doesnt matter if it bothers me or not, its invasion of privacy. Btw could someone please point me to the place where its indicated that PM owners will be able to see when someone visits their page?
  23. As a PM I want to be excluded from the PMO audits! Can I do that? Forget all about this elitist discussion and money issues, I think people are missing the most important part. I was not aware that PMO had an audit that showed who visited their page... The cache owner can see when and how many times I visited their cache, isnt there a breach of privacy somewhere? Me personally I dont want anybody to see what caches I am visiting EVER! So until this is changed I will not be visiting anymore PMO caches and will pull them as PQ and use GSAK to look at them.
