  1. You can give this a try. I had to do this once on my PN-20 and this also worked when I had to reset my 30 once also. Give this a try it may help. Now follow these steps to clear out any possibly corrupt waypoints/caches on your device (note: if you have any waypoints/geocaches you need to save, please download them first into Topo): 1.) Turn off the PN-40 and close Cache Register (as well as any other DeLorme programs such as Topo). Leave device plugged in to machine, though. 2.) When it is off, hold down the Page and Menu buttons together, then press the power button 3.) Continue to hold down all 3 buttons until the splash screen appears. At this point, release the power button 4.) You will now be in Support Mode. Hit Enter to Continue. 5.) On the next screen, hit the down arrow button once until System...is highlighted. Hit Enter 6.) On the System menu, scroll down until 'Delete All Waypoint files' is highlighted. Hit Enter 7.) Choose Yes when asked 'Are you sure?' 8.) When that process completes, hit the power button and the device will turn off. 9.) Boot up the PN-40 normally (just holding the power button) 10.) Hit Menu > Device Setup > Interface. Under USB Setting, Change it to Mass Storage: Internal. 11.) Your PN-40 will mount as a removeable drive and you should see EM_USERMAPS appear as a new option in My Computer. 12.) If you see a file here called cacheregister.xml, delete it. 13.) On your PN-40, change the USB Setting back to DeLorme and try another transfer via CR.
  2. Anyone else creating PQ tonight betting notification that your PQ ran is ready for Download but when you go to the PQ DL page nothing is showing up? This is happening to both My DAD and I. We are on a Road Trip and I really need my PQs that I just ran to fill in the gaps. This sucks. Big time.
  3. Personally I feel they should not use the TERM "Lifetime" if when they decided that a unit is beyond its lifetime, IE say 5 years for a unit. They most likely already know what they plan for a Unit Life Cycle and that is what should be used for Terms of use.
  4. And why would My User Name be Yucky? If you feel that cause you see 69 in a name? Funny some of were born in 69. Or is it the Damin? I am just not getting what is Yucky maybe you can give me a clue? you really messed up the quotes there, the username reference is not to yours is to that of Mr.Yuck Easy to figure out, and you'll probably be getting page views on your MOC by people from all over, myself included. Unfair? I'd lean slightly towards that, there is a language barrier here, and it's not unreasonable for a European to visit the Moderately large U.S. City with a Major University that your cache is in (or in it's suburbs, I didn't look that closely). I tell you what though, people get that "log deletion notice" via email, they sure don't like it, do they? I Like your selective Use of Capitals and Appreciate your pointing out that it is a MOC, kept me from looking. Honestly though, your New Username is just...Yucky. On Topic, check the Physical Log. Maybe the guy chose your cache to be his "One Special US Find". You'll feel kinda carpy if that is the case & you went the whole other way on that, now won't you? Ooops Thanks for the clarification
  5. Yup. 100% lazy to verify a log over an hour away with $3 gas prices when all they guy has to do is simply verify where he found it? Hmm Yes I sure screwed up. And will never doubt another suspicious log.
  6. Yes all of you are Valid on the checking the log. But in all fairness when I emailed him and asked to Please verify the location I did tell him If he could not verify since it seems a bit Odd that I would delete the Log. In you original email, did you explicitly mention the cache name, GC# and location (Country/city/state)? When I have had similar occurences, I send a polite email, mentioning that I think the person may have logged the wrong cache, indicating the state/country my cache is in. They usually send me an email confirming they logged the wrong cache. Yes. That I did.
  7. Yes. I have been taking care of my Father after surgery and the Cache is over an hour away. So I was trying to give the guy benefit of the doubt. I have no problem with a CO asking me where I found their Cache. I personally don't find this offensive in any way.

  10. Ok so asking a person to just please verify the location they found it is not FAIR. And I am basing an <potty language removed> for asking him? Heck I have had Owners ask me where I located a cache I sure dont give them an additude about it. I guess I get suspicious for no reason when I get an additude when I ask some one to please verify where they found it. And that was LONG before I deleted his LOG. I figured I was more than fair but guess I am wrong. When someones Log IS BLANK I guess I should not even question it from now on.
  11. Easy to figure out, and you'll probably be getting page views on your MOC by people from all over, myself included. I very much agree with you. I could see someone coming to visit the College city from Europe area. But this particular park Is small out of the way. I had figured if someone was coming all the way from Europe to cache and visit a College they would have logged more than ONE single cache in an out of the way park off the beaten path. I have not checked the log yet as I have not had anyone log it since and I have had a lot of problem with this cache coming up missing. Since we have snow now I do not want to draw any more attention to the cache than necessary. I do know the only True way is for me to go and check the log.
  12. Ok so I have this guy Log one of my Caches. The guy had 13 other caches besides the one of mine he logged. His log was empty just to get a smiley. I have no problem with that at all if the person finds it. Ok so here is the kicker. The guys other 13 are in a different country. So I email him and ask since all his other caches are in diff country if he was sure he logged my cache by mistake. Since my cache is the only one that he logged in the US I though it was just a bit odd with the dense area of caches that he would select My cache to seek out to find. I simply asked him to verify where exactly he found my cache or that I would delete the log. All I get back from the guy is a snide comment of I FOUND IT OK!! I waited about 3 weeks the guy still did not tell me where he found nor had he logged any other caches. So I delete it. So then he is Mad about it and Re LOGs my cache with His log was all that I was unfair about him logging and asking him to tell me where he found and YES I DID find it. So I Encrypted his log and and changed the Cache to a premium member cache. I Feel bad but I thought I was more than fair asking where he found it if he did indeed find it. So was I unfair?
  13. Mind you this is a tablet computer. Fact that is a Computer is Huge you can always tether with a Blackberry for internet. If money is not Object and you don't like the 2-5 meter accuracy They have a Pro HX add on GPS. that is sub meter with post processing. And if you really want to go wild and have sub centimeter accuracy it WILL link up and you can use an RTK GPS GNSS Receiver with it. I just think it is pretty cool and very Rugged. We are looking at purchasing some of these as Field computer for CQQA.

  15. Awww. Thanks. Had tried links to the left before always just got Lists of caches. guess I did not try them at the bottom Thanks.
  16. YES YES YES.. Bring back the original Lower clickable map.
  17. No Ray you are worse than any low life. Im sorry to say. So you have an opinion about what you think is a fair price. You know what. I am sorry you feel that eveyone should just give away something they paid alot more for and used lightly. I paid well over $300 for my 60 and threw in all the extras I had with it. I just feel that if you dont like what someone has for a price keep your nose out of it. Do you be an Class A JERK and walk up to a used car lot say I can get that cheaper down the road so you are a low life thief for trying to ask that price for it? Because that is what you are doing here. I will never sell anything here on this forum because of scum like you that do nothin but trash anyones sale that you dont agree with.
  18. And your Point being? You don't like his asking price then don't post. This is the reason I did not offer mine up for sale on here. I sold Mine on ebay 3 weeks ago for $280 shipped. One year old. After paypal and ebay fees I ended up with maybe $240
  19. I tried Cachberry it works good but is a very big program. I ended up going with BlackStar it is free and is a small simple program to us.
  20. Delorme PN-30 or PN-40 is a good choice around that price range at most web sites.
  21. You should consider the Delorme PN-30 or PN-40 both are around the price range you are looking for. Walmart.com has the 40 for $243 right now and the Camo PN-30 for $187. Topos, Auto Road Routing and Paperless caching right out of the box.
  22. Damin69

    Oops

I did almost the exact same thing. Except the one I dropped was a BLACK Nano at night. Had to run back to the car pulled out a new one and replaced the Cache and posted in my log what I had done. Oh and that I still had half the cache and if anyone found the other half to drop me an email.
  23. you did not say which Car GPS you have. If you have say a Garmin Nuvi you could use GSAK and one of the Nuvi Macros to put all the caches from your Pocket queary into your Nuvi that would also give you Paperless caching also. I personally use this myself. Nuvi for Road and Delorme PN-30 or Garmin 60CSx for off road.
  24. Do you do anything to protect your smart phone when geocaching? ZAGG screen protector and basich holster (sofar) Do you carry phone insurance because you intend on using it more outside and if something does happen the insurance will cover it? I do carry insurance on my phone. Just incase something happens I cant afford to take a $600 hit to just go get a replacment Any helpful tips, tricks or techniques you use that would be helpful to others in regards to the applications or use of your smart phone while geocaching? I use Black Star, Bolt Browser. I keep a Lock N Lock in my Back pack if it is raining or if I am going around places with lots of water around that may pose a risk of falling into I put my phone and Wallet in it. Which smart phone do you use for geocaching and how much? I have the Blackberry Tour 9630, I use it very little for caching mainly for When I am at work and something new comes in. It is my primary for recieving alerts of new cache postings.
  25. Perfect worked like a Charm. Now my cache Mover is has the correct Mileage.... Thanks
