I get the message "Route Calculator Error: Maps do not have routable roads in this area" Can you not use the base maps? If not can you have two sets of maps at the same time? One for caching and one for driving?

Well I returned it to Best Buy today and they reluctantly gave me stare credit (I bought it in April) I upgraded to a nuvi 1490 and so far no problems. Thanks for the replies!

Indotguy, Hard to say how hot it actually get but the truck's readout has hit 105 Fegan It is mounted just off the dashboard about as low as it will go. When it loses signal both of our hand helds show great signal strength. I have returned it once because it would just go dead. It is now about 2 months old. I may take it back again and see about the next step up. I don't like the cable anyway as it has the thick double lead for the MSN data antenna.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 285wt mounted on the windshield. We are in southern Louisiana so there should relatively strong signals. My nuvi loses the satellites at least once a day and some days like today every hour and takes up to 10 minutes to hook back up. I assume this is not normal but I thought I would ask.

Thanks Red90 but I need a little more info. I do use the nuvi custom poi macro but I also like to have the caches within 20 miles of home show up on the map screen while I'm driving around. In gsak when I generate a gpx file it have %name in the cache description. Do I need to do the same in the waypoint field? I think the light just came on! Thanks

I know I have done this before but tonight I went brain dead. How do I get the nuvi to display the cache name instead of the GC number on the map? I have GSAK, Geobuddy and MapSource to work with. nuvi 285w

It is my understanding that the waypoint avaraging is a way of reducing the error associated with marking a waypoint. By taking multiple reading and determining an average location automaticly. I do not see any advantage with this while seeking a cache. Only placing one.

I figured it out. I had to go to "setup" then "main Menu" then touch the button for it to become active.

I installed the update and the "about" screen shows 3.10 but I can not find the "Waypoint Averaging" button. Is there another step I missed?

My nuvi looses signal once in a while on a clear day and on an open highway. It acts the same way it would in a parking garage. sometimes it take 10-15 minuted to quire the signal again. I'm in south Louisiana so signal should be good.

I get a "usb device has malfunctioned. Device not recognized" Any suggestions? Hard reset did not help.

Why hide a cache if cachers can't find it with their GPS?

We have an Acer laptop running XP 2002 home edition SP3 We have tried to install the communicator but it won't take. Running IE 8 When we try to "send to GPS" we get the message "Communicator not detected" Any suggestions?
