I am somewhat bothered by coin traders who think that their personal coins minted in an "LE" metal are worth older HTF personal coins. The same goes with the people that sell coins that charge a higher price for an "LE" metal that costs the same as the other metal types. What gives?

Why do many people care what happens to the coin that they traded or sold to you. Once it's in your posession, do whatever you like with it- it's yours. If a person doesn't like that you sold a coin that you traded for, then they shouldn't have trade to begin with. Everyone needs to keep the politics to themselves and mind their own business and keep buying, selling, and trading coins. Just my .04

Generally speaking, you'll find that most coins released in late'05 to present are selling for about $20. When they are sold from a coin site, after they run out there is usually a spike in the price on ebay. This is normal with any commodity and should not be used to calculate true value. Older personal coins are worth the most with coins dating from early '05 and back. The amount of coins minted greatly affects resale value. Most coins with more than 250 minted are considerably cheaper, while those that had only 100 minted are a greater value. There are some exceptions to this like the first 5 months of GCC coins and the '05 Migo Seasonals. Trackability doesn't seem to affect value either.

I was reading the topic "coins stolen from caches" and came upon the picture of the golden octopus coin. The OP said the coin was from Germany, but doesn't know anything else about it. If anyone has any info regarding this coin, feel free to post it here. Thanks, Rob.

I kept a CAPT PROZAC coin that I found in a cache.

In my new coin buying guide, I have put the price for a v1 between $750 and $1500. v2's are $500- $750 and v3's are $250- $350. These prices are based upon ebay and private sales figures. Some of these coins have fetched higher prices for a charity sale but should stay in the ranges that I have listed. I have traded a Wandering Dragon for a v3 and have traded a Capt. Prozac for a v3, an 8muddyfeet, and a Facedances. If you have older HTF personal coins, you can trade them for a v2 or a v3- maybe a v1 depending on the collector. Look for the FREE coin buying guide in the coming months.

I've had 2 v3's which I've promptly traded for more geocoins. Really what's the point of getting a v1,2,or3 if you can't technically own them. That fact alone should discourage most collectors from trying to get one. Just my .02
