    I'm just adding a list of Trucker friendly Caches for the hesperia area.

     

    TROJAN TRAVELER XII - U.S. 395 waypoint: GCMWBW

    Please look at the webpage as this cache is locked and cabled for theft reasons.

    This one is across HWY 395 from the truckstop.

     

    Eastbound and down waypoint: GCN899

    This one is located at the truckstop.

     

    Jonathans Cache waypoint: GCJZQR

    This one is located on the other side of I-15 over the bridge from the truckstop.

     

    Welcome to Hesperia waypoint: GCMHB6

    If you are heading Northbound this one is about 1.3 miles north of the truckstop. The road is called Mariposa. This cache is a short walk from the road at the office buildings (LARGE TURNOUT Area), head toward the water tank.

     

    The Slider waypoint: GCMHV6

    If you are heading Northbound this one is about 1.4 miles north of the truckstop. The road is called Mariposa. This cache is a short walk from the road at the office buildings (LARGE TURNOUT Area), head toward the water tank, then go left at the end of the building.

     

    There is the ones that I know of that are close to and easy access for truckers.

    Cache Archived

    Can anyone tell me why a cache of mine in Colorado (GC38C) has been archived by an approver from the North East?

    It's a virtual cache (just a neat spot to go and see) that doesn't need any special maintaining but the approver has stated that it is no longer beeing maintained.

    It looks like to me that he said : "This virtual cache is no longer being maintained (see cache description). Therefore, it is being archived at this time."

     

    He is refering to the last line in the description : "This is a virtual cache. Log into www.idrive.com using the user name:

    gpscache

     

    The password is found at the cache location. It is the six letter word right below "Pass and Stow" (use all lowercase). Then upload a file and download what you want.

     

    Sorry, I-Drive is done, but please feel free to visit this cache. No need to send Password. Have Fun!

    Off Road Caching - I Wanna Do This!

    You might also try local off road forums, and being a little more open minded. Jeeps are only one of the many capable offroad vehicles out there. This is my Toyota on a cache hunt near Virginia City.

    Hey if I could ever afford to buy a 4X4 I think that I would rather buy a Toyota Landcruser anyday especally one that is in the year range of 1968 to 1975. You can drop a chevy 305, 307, 350 or 400 into this monster and get it to stay together for a long time.

    I have noticed that in the last couple .gpx updates I have done that a message comes up stating a cache has been returned to normal, but after checking on said cache it is showing disabled still.

     

    Also is there any way to set a cache other than manually from disabled to archived? and could disabled caches have one color and archived caches be able to have another color?

    Cache Cash Outlay

    One of my caches, Ghost Dance cost in the range of $100. I found the spot for this cache and knew I wanted a nice cache there so I searched for quality items to stock it with. The Main two items were a Native American style choker, hand made by myself out of bone and buffalo horn beads, brass beads, nickle beads and three jade beads, it contained $30.00 worth of material. The second nice item was a hand carved stone Zuni bear, $10.00. I then stocked the cache with Totem Stones I am very pleased with this cache the cache and location has gotten the reactions I hoped they would.

     

    Another cache that required a 2 mile hike cost in the $50.00 range and was taken by a cache thief after only one find. I had always wanted to place a change exchange for old coins so it had about $30.00 worth of coins in it.

     

    Many of my other caches have been placed for about $10 to $20.

     

    My most recent cache was placed for about $3  Geocaching ROCKS(members only)  Is a rock themed cache and I collected 90% of the contents myself. It was $3 if you don't count the cost of the trips to California, North Carolina, Utah and Arkansas.

     

    After getting 4 new caches stolen in Shawnee National Forest I am not sure about putting out expensive caches again.

    I am thrifty and I have been ruining across some really good deals on $3 to $10 items for around 25 cents. I bought 220 sunbeam personal mosquito repellers for 25 cents each, 200 1973 Elvis Fan Club tokens for 25 cents each, I got a few boxes of new, old stock, Baseball cards from the 1960s to 2000, I place 7 cards in a ziploc, total cost 13 cents per ziploc. I am getting ready to place a new cache "Thank You Betsey Ross" I have about 100 flag themed  pins, buttons, magnets and bracelets, average 10 cent each. My two Signature Items, Golden Mouse & Spirit Stones, cost about 3 cent each but have great stories that make them great items.

     

    The last two cache that I replaced for someone in Shawnee National Forest including a waterproof Lock n Lock type box and 8 trade items, log and pen cost about $1.50 each. Gas to place the caches $15.00 :)

    Travel Bugs For Truckers

    I am thinking about setting up a Travel Bug Terminal near my local truck stop. I am wanting to know if there would be a call for it. If so I will make it big enough for the travel bug gnome to fit in it even.

    Benchmark Cache

    :o Disterbing a benchmark? I do not think it is a good idea. But I would use the benchmark as part of a multipart find so that the benchmark could at least be seen. then place the cache away from that location.
