  1. It is important to log "Didn't Find" correctly because it is an indicator to the owner that the difficulty rating should go up. Also he can gauge maintenance needs if suddenly 10 people can't find it where 30 people did previously. Damaged, wet or full logs should go under "Needs Maintenance". I never look for a cache if lots of others can find it. Do your home work before you leave the house. Just cause you can't find it doesn't mean it is gone.
  2. I see there are over 1500 caches in a 10 mile radius for Denver. That makes it possible. You need to drive to and find 18 caches an hour. That I find hard to believe. Not saying it never happened but it is hard to believe. Did all 4 of you sign the logs? Is there a magnetic micro on every second light post down there? It's only a world record if Guinness was there to witness. Hope you had fun . . .
  3. I accidentally discovered an account belonging to ShowStop. ShowStop claims to have found 531 caches in 7 days (76 per day) in Nov 2008 and claims 11183 finds since 2003. That is 4 a day every day for 7 years. Can this be so? Not bloody likely. I concur it could be remotely possible. However this game is all free and fun so if the dude gets his jollies this way so what? Who is it hurting? I have 160 finds in this year and I feel great. I know they are real and I truly earned them. Again, so what? Nobody cares about anybody else and you get out of this sport what you put into it. I get MY jollies playing by the rules. You soon learn who the serious cache hunters are and the posers. Just go out and have some fun. That, truly, is all it is about.
  4. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to how to actually find these things? I'm open to hearing! The sport is in the hunt, some owners intentional make it harder. Choose the easiest ones near you first. Scribble notes for each cache's hints and read more than the 5 listed finds. Quite often other hunters will accidentally slip hints too when they log their find. Arm yourself the best you can before you even leave the house. Each cache is graded for difficulty in finding and in terrain. Don't be afraid to log "didn't find" as the owner can learn about his hide and up the rating if too many can't find it. He can check for damage or missing caches as well. As for dieing I don't think so. This time last year when I started there were 650,000 caches world wide. This August I read there were over 800,000. After a few successes you will get the feel for the hides and find more and more. Don't give up yet!

  6. I have a question for ShowStop. ShowStop claims531 caches in 7 days in Nov 2008 and claims 11183 find since 2003 can this be so? I too would like to be a successful cache hunter. What is your secret?
  7. Do people just disregard the wishes attached to these trackables or they just ignorant? We are just ignorant. I thought they just wanted to travel, knowing now how much effort all this is I'll just let em sit . . . Thanks for the education. Too many rulez. Bugz sux.
