  1. I submit a query for all my finds with the following parameters:

    1000 Caches

    Any Type

    Any Container

    That I have found

    Difficulty greater than 1

    Terrain greater than 1

    Within all countries

    From my Postal Code

    5000 mile radius

    Placed at any time

    No attribute restrictions

I expect 274 caches to be returned but only get 171 returned. Anyone any ideas why this is happening?

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

I just purchased a Magellan eXplorist 610 (Europe) and am having major problems trying to get the communicator (1.13.0.17) to work. Whenever I try to 'Send to my GPS' I get a pop up with two buttons saying 'Check Device' and 'Download'. I have already downloaded the communicator, installed and enabled it in both browers but it still won't work. I have tried it with Firefox 5 and IE 8, in both XP Pro and Windows 7. I've even logged on to the Magellan site and followed their instructions to get it working but still no success. I emailed the Magellan support desk but so far have had no response, even after telling them I will probably return the device and opt for a Garmin.

At the moment I can get caches onto the device by drag and drop using Explorer but I'd rather have the device working as I expect. Other than this issue I think this is an awesome GPS for cacheing and am otherwise satisfied with it in every way.

Can anyone offer any further advice to resolve this issue or should I just chuck the thing in the local canal :-(

    Thanks.

  3. Both Retrieve and Grab do the same thing so it really doesn't matter which one you pick. Normally you would Retrieve a bug from a Cache and use the Grab option when the bug is listed as being held by another cacher. There is no Retrieve option when it's being held.

Thanks BlueDeuce, just one last question though - under what circumstances would one want to grab a TB when it is listed as being held by another cacher?

If the other cacher fails to log that they have placed the TB into the cache that you found it in, you would need to Grab it before you could log that you Placed it into a cache.

However (there's always a However), you should allow the other cacher time to log it before you Grab it.

Yep, or perhaps someone handed you a bug. I work with another cacher and on occasion we trade TBs this way.

OK, all is clear now. thanks for your patience guys.

  5. Hi, I'm new to geocaching and today found my first TB. I physically took the TB from the cache to place in another cache.

Have I retrieved or grabbed the TB? I have entered that I have retreived it but I'm afraid that the explanation of 'retrieving' and 'grabbing' on the geocache.com site is as clear as mud to me.

Could one of you geocaching gurus please explain the differences to me. Thanks in advance.
