  1. If none of your finds show automatically, then it's your identification of "yourself" in GSAK that doesn't match the PQ. If some of them show as found but not all of them, then it is most likely the delay in incorporating logs into the PQs. There is somewhat of a delay (more than a minute, less than an hour?) for new logs to appear in the PQ. When I enter all my logs, if I ask for a "found" PQ immediately, I'm likely not to have the last cache show up as found in GSAK. If I wait a little while, I'm OK. That's not the problem in this case. My cache has been on-line for several days & has been found by quite a few people but it still doesn't list the cache in green, as being mine. Even tho it has my name as the owner. Also, I did my logs last night & the pq's today, but it's still missing a lot of my logs. Not all of them, mind you, but a lot. The "offline database" hasn't been updated with the last pq. That's another thing that's weird. It claims to be offline, but you have to be on the internet to read it. What's up with that?
  2. I'm sure you've seen this one before. Been out caching, updated Groundspeak, ran a new pq, which shows on Groundspeak that I've found or placed caches, but when I download it into gsak, it doesn't show all of the caches I've found (it'll show the cache, but not that I've found it), nor does it show my own cache. (It'll show the cache I've placed but won't show it as mine.) I just checked one of the caches that show it as not being found &, even tho it's a new pq, it shows the last update of the offline database was the 20th. So why wasn't that updated with the new pq? Another item: I can get the data into my palm E2, do the logging on the palm, but how do I get the data from the palm to Groundspeak (with using gsak or going direct)? It seems others I've talked to have this same problem. There is some software that supposedly will transfer the data but they haven't been able to get it to work, either.
  3. Dave do us a favor and keep the Broncos cheering on the Denver forum. Well, excuse me. I thought this was the West and Southwest Forum. Yea! GOOOO, Denver!!!
  4. Too Bad - Go Broncos!! Oh no! We have a traitor in our midst! RM, you can't root for the Broncos and the Chargers! That's like rooting for the Redskins and the Cowboys or like rooting for the Packers and the Vikings or like rooting for USC and UCLA or like rooting for the Yankees and the Red Sox You just can't do it! I lived in Illinois for SIX YEARS and NEVER rooted for the Bears and NEVER quit rooting for the Packers!!! Anyhow, just wait until the Bolts play the Broncos again!!!!!!!! *The good news is that at least you didn't move to Oakland!! One thing about the Chargers & Broncos playing, some of us just can't lose!
  5. Hey, You need to send TT one of those pins. He came across us one time with his legs (in shorts) all scratched up something fierce! He had bushwacked over from another cache. Crazy dude! We're in Brawley right now, heading to 78 for the night, then on to S22 in the morn. See ya all out there! By the way, if any more caches come on line between now & then, can someone give us the data?
  6. HELP! So we've gone paperless. <cheer, cheer> We've downloaded the caches into our palm, found them, logged them, & now comes the part I can't figure out. How do you download from the palm to the computer? I tried Move Records, no. Export logs, no. Into GSAK? Groundspeak? Palm? Please give me exacting details. Thanks!
  7. We were out to place a cache & do some recon (Yea, ok, & get some caches. [:I]) & noticed the new ones had already been FTfound, so so much for "saving" the new ones.
  8. Saturday night, the 29th. Be there or be square!
  9. I emailed Zar about Chupy 4. He said he was going to archive it soon. I asked him if it would be ok if someone adopted it but I haven't received a response yet. If you're interested in adopting it, maybe email him directly. (We're heading out campin' in a little while so I don't know when I'll get back on-line. Therefore, I don't know when I'll read his response, assuming I get one.) Yea, that one would definitely fit into the hall of fame. BTW, there is ?one? WP that needs to change. I think it is 4. It tells you to go on a now-closed trail.
  10. I wouldn't have been surprised if you had tried to go all the way up to the Elliot Mine. But you'd have to get by 'The Rock.' You put your CRV through harder testing than the manufactirers ever expected. You were having too much fun getting past that rock. That's why I think we would need better tires (definitely!) & probably some more power, too. That blue toyota sure looks strange. A cross between a Mini & an SUV. Or a Mini on steroids. We made it to about WP 7 or 8! Zar's latest note is that he reactivated Chupy 4. I'm wondering what that means. Did he get new WP's out there? Or did he just reactivate it to tick off Admin (and the rest of us by default!) Glad to see you're still alive & kicking, Gary. Its been a long time! Did you give up on us??? The woop-di-do sounds like fun. I have to work, tho. Miragee, we did the Forest & it was great! With all of the other caches out there, we never really noticed the spiders. I guess they were hiding during the day. At night, with your flashlight shining on them, they are HUGE! BTW, you need a bright flashlight for that cache. (We're/I'm) game for doing the other cache. Just have to find the right date... Don't forget the campout on Halloween weekend, folks! The Ride of the Headless Horseman was fun. We did that one on Halloween last year. During the day. I don't know if any of the WP have changed or the container, but it was all fun. lol
  11. We went out with a jeep & an Xterra some time ago. We couldn't go Everywhere they went, but we maybe coulda, if we had the right tires. Ok, some more power wouldn't hurt. We got our Honda CRV so that I could drive it to work but we could still go places a car couldn't. Whatsa matter C4? Can't get the trunk fixed???
  12. Oh man! That'd be a pretty high number for almost all of us!
  13. The Senior Sleuths just came back from a trip to your neck of the woods. They forgot to de-con before they got back here, tho, & now it's raining pretty hard! Well, pretty hard for southern Ca, at least! So much for the Air Show at MCAS Miramar!
  14. Hi everyone, A couple things about the campout weekend. 1st off - there is also a festival in the city of Borrego Springs that same weekend so expect "traffic jams." Maybe just to go with some bread & PB?? 2nd - Not everyone has a jeep with the offroad capabilities. I'd sure hate it if someone (ok, us!) goes some place that they shouldn't. Our CRV has high clearance & AWD but it still isn't as good as a jeep. For those of you that have either placed the difficult-to-get-to caches or have been to those areas, how about letting the rest of us know which ones we with the handicapped vehicles need to stay away from. On the other hand, if something "looks" difficult to drive to but really isn't, please let us know that, too.
  15. OOooo! Good idea! Oh TT! Just make it easy on yourself & send us the answers to all of your caches we haven't figured out yet.
  16. Dang! I just went out & bought a new E2, getting ready for the camp-out. Now to learn how to use it... The idea of getting a free anything is great. Something free that we could actually use (like your pda's) is even better! Thanks for thinking of the rest of the group.
  17. We've submitted our first WJTB photo ("Tow Package"): Actually, the name is quite fitting & I love it. This is what's called "being prepared".
  18. PocketPC uses GPXSonar. Get the unlimited wireless internet, you can check for caches on the go. D! Oh, never mind. I just checked the net to see what the IPAQ was. For what we're going to use this for, the Palms are expensive enough.
  19. Depends...are you going to loan it to Flagman? I'm kind of thinking of getting a hard case, just for those kind of incidents. I'm also planning on getting some of those little screen covers for it. Wish I knew about them before I scratched our second GPSr screen.
  20. Ok folks, I'm flipping a coin. Which is the better one to get - a Palm Tungsten E2 or a Palm Zire 72? Pros? Cons? Is there something better that a person can get locally that is better? For about the same price, of course. Ease of use Able to see in the bright sunlight Can do everything that a cacher wants it to do, with room to grow Speed (or is there much difference between units?) Other...
  21. If it feeds on birds as suggested by the location, then it's probably a Cooper's Hawk. Most other hawks feed on rodents rather than birds. Hard to tell from the photo but the streaks on the hawk's breast suggest a Cooper Hawk. Cooper's Hawks have a very silent flight much like an owl. Where there are bird feeders a Cooper's Hawk will swoop in and land chasing all the birds away. The hawk will then perch patiently and quietly for up to an hour until unsuspecting birds return to the feeder. Then ... Bam! a meal for the Cooper's Hawk. We had a resident Cooper Hawk at our old property in Alpine. The fun part was when the Cooper's Hawk tried to chase down the resident flock of eight feral Nanday Parrots that came to our gardens and feeders. The parrots easily eluded the Cooper's Hawk and raised a raucous fuss while doing so. "Feral Parrots" would be an awesome band name!!! Checking all of my nature books, bird books, surfing the internet, & asking some of my co-workers, we all agree. That bird is a cross of lazy & smart!
  22. You mean naval gelly? Or is it navel jelly??
  23. Ouch. That couldn't have been cheap. Wonder what hurt more, the Pocket PC breaking or the DNF. Ahaa! Finally, a good reason to not be Paperless!
