However, I cannot figure out how to generate pocket queries or anything else. Can I do this without having my PN plugged in?? And worse for my total NB persona, how do i even start a pocket querie? can some one please help me along to a place where I can find happiness?? thanks TheIrishRovers

  3. I noticed some thing in my limited travels with Geocaching. After we find a cache and log it, it comes up with a check by it letting me know that we have already found it. Great. They are a fun find and the finding is what we enjoy. We do not go back to those finds to re-discover them even if they seem to be a hot bed for TB's. One cache one find one TB, if it is there. We say let some one else find it and get the joy of moving a TB along. There does seem to be a few people that have pictures of their finds over and over again in the same place holding up multiple different TB's... IS THIS FAIR?? or even good etiquette? Just curiouse about what other think. Thanks for listening. Mtnmanhunter
  4. As an electrician for more years than I care, I would have to agree with the concerns about putting caches "in" electrical equipment. Putting them around or on the outside of a piece of electrical equipment is not in my opinion a problem. Sometimes in an urban environment they are just to handy to pass up. Unless there are specific written guide lines, which I have not seen, I say let them go.
  5. Thanks for the thread lead. I followed it and hopefully soon we will have a new name that everyone can live with. Thanks again, soon to be changing, Mtnmanhunter
  6. Hoping I can get some help... EG, here what I want We started a profile under one name and started searching, now that our little family has agreed on a name I was hoping that I could change our user name to reflect the new one without loosing our finds. I know that they are not much but hey, they were hard found and lots of fun. Any help?? Thanks, Mtnmanhunter
  7. Thanks for all of the replies and advice. It seems that for a variety of reasons the upgrade is a good choice. Looks like I will be going that way in the future, I will just have to wait till Oct 15 to get the use out of it. Thanks again, Mtnman
  8. Nope, not Sarcasm. Just an honest question by a Tadpole. Sorry to sound that way. Mtnman
  9. Please forgive my ignorance. But am I to understand that I can search in a certain area or along a route that I plan to travel? Do I need to be a premium member to down load coordinates and details to a GPS? I am waiting for the new Delorme to come out and that would be a great option. Thanks for the info to think about so far. Mtnman
  10. Realy?? You can use a map program to show caches in a given area?? Will it list which caches they are so that I can "optimize" my milage. I borrowed a GPS and that is by far the most fun, the kids love it, but if I could group them... all the better.

  12. My family and I are registered with Geo but I have not paid for a membership. I don't mean to be cheap but that was a major draw for this activity, family fun low cost. I have looked at the join page and the only thing that we would use at this stage would be the member only caches. Are they realy that special?? There is plenty of fun to be had with out them but I would like to know. Thanks for the Help. Mtnmanhunter
  13. Greeting to all, as you can see I am new to this place. My family and I have just started to get into Geocaching and are very excited about it. However, all I have is a tom tom and it has worked ok up to now because all of our trecks have been easy. I am looking to upgrade to a hand held device and was looking at the garmin etrex series... that is until I read a name over and over, Delorme pn-20 and the up coming pn-40. I am sold!! I loved what I have read and seen but the question comes up, should I take advantage of the sales on the pn-20 or would I be better to wait for the pn-40. Would someone new to this notice the difference? Would I be better with the savings? Money is a consideration. Thanks in advance for any guidance and help. Mtnman
