  1. We have a nice .Bounty Hunter Sharp Shooter II for $160. It has the standard 8" coil and a 4" Gold Nugget coil.. K
  2. I have a external antenna mounted to the case on my V. The original antenna of the V is pretty good but this setup does help some.. K
  3. Wanting to trade a Bounty Hunter Sharp Shooter II for a Garmin or Magellan Mapping GPS with at least 8 MB of memory. No Sportraks or Etrexs. Would also trade for a 5001 series PS2 with a few games . Detector is in like new condition & comes with the standard 8" coil & cover plus a 4" Gold Nugget coil .. Thanks, k (Katelyn)
  4. That does explain your initial remark . I felt I was offering an improved version of a container that has been sold at a higher price else where and felt your remark was aimed at discouraging my sale . I can live with cool but pricey but "thats crazy" seemed pretty harsh from my side of the fence.. K
  5. The 2.5" low carbon container is sold . The 1.5" stainless still available. K
  6. Currenty out of the 2" & 2.5" stainless bolts. I have 1 of the 1.5" stainless & a 2.5" low carbon steel available. In dryer climates the low carbon is fine but in damp areas or near salt water stainless is the way to go.. K
  7. Son, when you start buying metal lathes instead of paintball guns & Xboxes your opinion may be of more value. Until then why dont you stick to telling people how much you love you Meridian Gold for about the 1172nd time . K
  8. I saw something similal to these micro containers on ebay last week so I thought Id make up a couple . I made them smaller & out of stainless steel . I used the 3/8" size so they would fit in a sign post. I tried one this weekend on a private cache & they are very effective .. K
  9. If you get a unit with some memory you are going to want some map software. Why not step up to a GPS V Deluxe & get a much nicer unit with City Select maps ,a better antenna, external antenna capability, bigger screen more user friendly buttons, auto routing etc. & is only slightly larger than a etrex. We have a Legend & a V & there is really no comparison. The auto routing sure is handy when traveling to the next cache site . I bought the V new open box for $225. As far as the compass, I had a 76S & found the compass nearly useless. If you want a compass, spend $5 & buy one. K
  10. When you run out of places to detect , look for more spots here. ghost towns and 1895 atlas and panoramic maps This is how to connect the 2 hobbies . K
  11. Metal detecting in my main hobby. I guess Im old enough I dont care if I look like a dork . I detect with my teenage daughter . We use Minelab units, a Sovereign & a Explorer. Either one of them will find stuff at about twice the depth of a Bounty Hunter. The Explorer is the best land unit available but is hard to learn and many give up before mastering it. The Sovereign is a much easier to use but some find it difficult to learn if coming from another brand. . Neither of these units are for for women or kids as they are heavy and will wear your arm out in a hurry. Here is a link to our detecting page K&k Check out the recovered items pages. The 1877 Indian Head sold on ebay for $494.98 . Somtimes looking a little dorky pays off. I also have a page dedicated to modification to the Sovereign Sovereign Mods A good place for information on all of the good detectors is findmall forums. The Bounty Hunter will tell you if you like detecting or not & will find shallow stuff but if you want the deep old coins you will need a better unit . The Treasure Hunters Brand from Ebay is a mistake . Your best bet is to resell it before you take it out of the box. Its not nearly as good as even the Bounty Hunter. There is a much greater difference between different make & model metal detectors than there is on GPS units..If I couldnt have a Minelab Id get a Fisher CZ5 ,CZ7 or CZ70. You can pick up a good used Minelab Sovereign for about $300 . K
  12. Thats what I needed . Thanks, K
  13. Is there a way to delete all waypoints on the V ?? Ive been doing them individually thinking I will eventually run across the delete all option but I havent so far. K
  14. From Garmin Unlock FAQ page Q. What if I have more than two units? A. We allow you to unlock up to two of your own personal units. Separate unlock codes are required for each unit, so you will need to complete the unlock process twice. We do allow transfer of data when you upgrade your unit. You may unlock up to two units with one coupon code. K
  15. City Select 4.01 & 5.0 do copy the image files to your hard drive. Uninstall everything, reinstall 4.01 but only select the smallest region which is Canada , then install your 5.0 upgade with as many of the regions selected that you have room for.. K
  16. You can also sign up for a daily notification here K
  17. Now thats a nice piece of work . I tried it with a GPS V & a Palm III XE 4.0 and it & was very easy to configure & worked perfectly in my little trek around the yard. Great Stuff.. K.
  18. The V has a detour function that allows you to bypass a section of the route such as a traffic jam that you may encounter .. It will quickly recalculate a new route around the jam.. K
  19. This is a new users view. We own a Legend & a V . We had a 76S but didnt like it . For someone that wants a unit for caching & auto use I think the GPS V is by far the best value. When you add up the cost of a Legend or Vista with a auto mount , power cable & mapping software you are at almost $300.00 for the Legend or $350.00 with the vista . For about That amount you can get the V Deluxe with all of that stuff included and have what in my opinion is a much nicer unit. I never thought I would use auto routing but after using it find it to be a major feature, plus you get a better antenna , external antenna support & 4 battery power & much more viewable screen . I also prefer the feel of a 4 battery unit over a 2 , you can tell you have ahold of something. If buyers could actually hold each unit in there hand & see & feel the difference I think many more would have the V. The only advantage I see with the Vista is the extra memory . I found no use for the compass when I had the 76S ... The new version of MapSource City Select that comes with the V is broken down into smaller segements to make better use of what memory you have.. The Legend & Vista are nice little units but there are other options.. For those wondering why we didnt like the 76S , short battery life, need to hold upright for best satellite reception , lay down for compass to work & the manner in which you edit waypoint names , not bashing just didnt like it. K
  20. Looking for a Micro Mouse external antenna... K
  21. Pc-Mobile has them . You can also make one with a Palm serial cable , a 60c serial cable & a null modem . K
  22. But if you sort them before you put them on the PDA you have to know before hand where you are going. With Cachmate if you decide to go caching on the spur of the moment you can enter the coordinates & sort from any location . I dont think you can do that with Spinner /Plucker can you ?? K
