  1. I would like to see a check box like "Hide My finds" and "Hide my caches" that when checked would hide the unavailable caches. When planning a day of caching I'm not usually interested in seeing the ones I can't go after. Anybody else think that it would be a good idea?

Yep. I agree. I jumped in this forum just to suggest a feature such as this.

  2. OK, I just had to ask the experts out there. I have identical (I think they are) Garmin 60Cx GPS units. They are configured with the same software and firmware versions. They have both been used extensively.

I wonder why they do not always pick up the same satellites. Case in point: the other day I had the units side by side, and one unit displayed a solid lock on satellite #10 on the satellite page. The second unit showed a hollow bar for satellite 10, and the bar as high as possible in the display. Both units had been on for more than 30 minutes. However, even after leaving the units stationary for more than two minutes, the second unit never locked on #10. Why?

Also, I find that both units rarely lock on the same WAAS satellite. Why?

Why don't two "identical" units pick up the same satellites?

I don't know but will stab at it.

Perhaps the battery strength? Also, the point in the horizon for number 10 bird?? Where was its position on the globe??

I don't know man. This is interesting though.

  3. Purchased new and used for a while then put in a drawer. I recently got back into Geocaching and decided on a DeLorme PN-20 to play with.

It has a few nicks around the edges/corners from normal use and in good condition. Excellent little GPS in perfect working order.

The Vista was the top of the line in the eTrex family for a long time before they come out with the C version. (Color). One reason is for the compass.

Would make a great caching unit for a long time and more than enough for the starter family.

I have the data cable. I updated the firmware to the latest release tonight so it is good to go.

HERE is a link to the specs and a detailed description. Legend retails for about $50 less.

First $100 gets it including shipping to CONUS.

  4. It depends. If the Wife/Baby/Dogs are with me... it is the Envoy. 4x4 with all terrains. Before it was my Jeep TJ "Lady Bird".

Since -SADLY- I sold my TJ to put a chunk of dollars down on our house, I am forced into the Envoy. However, if the it is not too too cold 40 or below and the family stays at home, I will take either CacheMoto 1 or CacheMoto 2. CacheMoto 1 is for the narley backroads and trails. While CacheMoto 2 likes the urban and scenic road finds.

I had another that showed great promise Prancing Pony . He had over 10,000 miles early in his career and made it to the UK before being left behind by the guy who brought him with a muggle that I guess did not follow through with placing him somewhere. (Or something like that... RIP Prancing Pony)

  6. Thanks guys but just no can do. Glad you remember the PBR. I would not have shown up without it. icon_wink.gif One of the problems IS transportation. Just tip one or a few for me.

JZ - so you mean since I am not showing up, all of sudden you don't have a scheduling conflict?? Interesting... I can take a hint.

Place 'em if you got 'em.

  8. I would like to respectfully ask that someone of a good hearted nature, RESREVE me a spot in the main camp. I have to work till 5:00 then drive down there. It will be around Midnight before I get there IF ALL GOES WELL. IF there are not any objections. How does this sound????

Hell, we have plenty of wood. Guess I will bring beer and water.

Place 'em if you got 'em.

  9. I took my 97 ZJ places you would not believe... My nerf bars became a GREAT investment when the cypress knobs kept pushing me around. Those little things are TOUGH. They actually dented my westin bars on both sides. This is the cache log I am talking about. One of Buck8Point's hides.

At any rate, I am looking for a 97, 98 Wrangler now. Can't wait for the right deal to come along.

Place 'em if you got 'em.

  10. Bloencustoms - I would just go to www.weather.com and look up the historical data for the Alexandria area. But you know how the weather is down here. Your guess is as good as mine.

Speaking of weather. I forgot how NICE the weather is in Central Arkansas. The last like 3 weeks have been AWESOME.

CenlaCouple - It depends on what day of the week you submitted it. Naturally weekends take longer to go through. I would just email the person assigned to your cache for a quick heads up. If there is a potential problem, usually they will post a note on the cache page (only you can see) telling you they are "pondering" over it. I had that happen with a new cache idea I had for a pictoral cache containing pictures of our "Caching Rides." It took them a while, but finally they decided it would not fly. Even though there were similar ones "Grandfathered In".

Place 'em if you got 'em.

  11. POOOOF!

Here I am. Back from the abyss. Thanks for all the emails and ESPECIALLY not forgetting about me. I figured after my pass-out-face-first-behind-my-jeep maneuver, I would not be allowed back. But hey... we have all been there.

I hope I can talk Steph into making the trip. Her class load is heavy now. Petie is definately up for it. He has been working out a bit so no piece of firewood should get the best of him. I got him a fleece also, so he should stay nice and warm.

I have been nose down for awhile. I found a few caches up here. Some really beautiful places to hide and find geocaches. I HIGHLY recommend the CADRON CREEK hides if anyone gets up here. I live in Benton, AR. just outside of Little Rock if anyone is up this way and needs to crash out.

I have been training alot for an upcoming Adventure Race. Geocaching has fell off for me as of late. I was up in Chicago a couple weeks ago and let me tell you, I was in a park in one of the Burbs up there and the mosquitoes nearly carried me off. I thought for S-U-R-E I made a wrong turn and was in the Atchafalaya Basin.

Let it be known, DOUG was the first to make a paddling joke... icon_cool.gif

    DOUG:

"Somebody needs to holler at JZ and see if he can paddle down the Mississippi and Join us."

  12. For replying to this post. I should have since I own W.Az. but I was in geocaching limbo there for awile. I STILL have not found passing thru. Each time I try, it is like 2:00 in the morning and there are either shady people mulling around looking for scraps or it was just too dark to find and a little spooky.

Place 'em if you got 'em.
