  8. This brings back many memories of my beloved Kahula, sadly I cannot have a cat now as my husband has cat asthma. Since your story pertains to food, I will relay one in the same category. At the time I was about 20 and home from college with my kitty Kahula, I was wanting good food instead of the stuff you eat to get by at college so I decided to make Lasagna for dinner. After if was finished baking we set it on the counter to cool off a little so it doesn't ooze so much when you cut it. While it was cooling a friend stopped by and all of us went outside for him to show us a new purchase he had made for his car. When we got back inside Kahula was on the counter enjoying our Lasagna. My sister got loud and startled her, Kahula stepped into the dish, jumped down and dashed across my moms new cream colored carpet less than a year old. Little tomato based prints went across the room. Boy was my mom mad, and we had lots of clean up to get the prints off. When I married she stayed with my mom. She died about 8 years ago. My hubby who for obvious reasons doesn't like cats did like Kahula because her personality was more dog like. She was very attached to me and even swam in a lake to get to me when she was a baby on a camping trip. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, and the cointest. Karen
  9. I ordered as well, if anyone has an extra of one of the original editions and would like to arrange a trade let me know. I'd love to have one of the other finishes. Karen kmmlynch
  10. My daughter's school usually sends home a sappling and we plant it. This year we will plant the tree, go caching (our first earth day since starting to cache), and take a bag to the park and pick up litter. Thanks for the cointest, nice coin. Karen
  11. burp, pardon moi. I got error message so I thought it didn't go through.
  12. I'm new to the coin collecting trading, but would love to get one of these. So put me on the list of would like to trade/buy from someone. Hope my remark above wasn't taken the wrong way, it was just a little self pity whine. This is a win some, you lose out sometimes. I was able to get a Christmas Turtle that was a win one, this was a lose one. There will be other coins to lust after but would really like one. So I apologize if my op was taken the wrong way. Karen
  13. I missed it to, so unfair to list this on a day when we are out of touch with these things for a few hours. Boo Hoo. Okay now off to eat the chocolate eggs in my basket. Karen
  14. Was checking their sight about when the remints were expected in, and the site showed them in, so I place my order. So if you missed out on the first round here is the chance for the second go around. Hope their server doesn't have glitches from all the activity its going to have. Karen
  15. I had a nice surprise in the mail yesterday. I received a coin from the Geo_Bandit. Karen
  16. I went to the mailbox and had such a nice surprise a black shiny padded mailer. I was so excited, hubby thought I had lost my mind. We were on our way to our daughters hero assembly so I waited until we got back as I knew I would want to admire it. When we got back I beelined for it and was so excited the rest of the afternoon. Just kept admiring it. Thank you for the warm fuzzy happy feeling I have had ever since. It was a very nice surprise. This is my first mystery coin and will keep it in my collection forever and remember when I received it. I received number 344. Karen kmmlynch
  17. I am a newbie to coins and have a few thoughts coming as a newbie and purchasing coins. Since I am new I don't know who is or is not on the to be on the trusted side. Before I decide to buy coins from anyone I feel it is my responsibility to go through the process of determining who is trustworthy and who is not. I do this by going through the forums and reading people's threads sales of past sales and cointests, going to their page and reading posts they have left. In this way I can get a general feel of how the person is regarded here. This being said I also have come to realize who many of the regulars are and feel that I could email or pm many of them to find out if there is anything I should be aware of. I have gathered that there was a problem with a vendor late last spring, early summer and it has left its mark as it rightly should. In the end we are all responsible for the decisions we make when it comes to spending money. I have gathered that this was sparked by a different thread about a person not receiving a coin from a cointest. I feel, if a person has been cheated they should be able to post the specifics without getting nasty about it so that others can become aware, and then others can decide in the future if they want to deal with the person involved. In this way you establish a honesty system, if one person continually renigs on deals then chances are that person get a reputation and will be left high and dry in future ventures on the forums. If I know a person wasn't treated right or overcharged at a store the chances that I will continue to shop there are greathly diminished. If I don't think I'm going to get a coin based on info from the forums, than shame on me for ordering from them in the first place, they have the coin and my money. I know ordering coins are small potatoes compared to buying something like a tv, but don't you go to businesses you trust, or do research about where you spend your money. It is always buyer beware when you buy something. Many stores offer refunds but are not required to, it is the buyers responsibility to find out a return policy BEFORE the purchase is made. Deciding who to buy from is the buyers responsibility, so stop being lazy and do your work before you buy. If vendors have to start implementing a bunch of new guidelines, who will pay probably the consumers because of all the extra work. More red tape means higher prices for everyone all around. Of course we live in a society where people will pay 3x the price for a game system instead of waiting for them to be more readily available, or tickets to a certain teen singer went for 6x face value all because some child wanted to see it. Great way to teach values, both money values and values in life that count. I am afraid to see what the future holds in some respects. If this post is totally off topic I apologize, I haven't read through all the posts, looked at the beginning posts and the last page. If this has already been stated then again I apologize. Kmmlynch PS The two purchases I have made from individual designers here have been great, one was in the USA the other international. I have also decided against buying some coins from a designer selling on that e place based on posts I read regarding the seller (designer) from several posts. There will be others I will like.
  18. I added a picture to my TB page that Smiling Bee took, what do I need to do to get it linked with contestants page. I put it in photobucket but it won't let me copy and paste with img. Thanks in advance for any help. Karen
  19. My mission is to travel to Sturgis, South Dakota, to see the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, and be placed in an area cache. Along the way I'd like to visit interesting sites and meet new friends. How's that. Now only 98 more to go. Karen
  20. I got mine yesterday, they are very pretty. I'm glad I decided to add on a colored one before they shipped, I think its my favorite. I say think because I'm still admiring them. The first one I unwrapped the pin was missing but I finally found it. I will watch to see if anyone sets one out and how it holds up. It seems a little fragile. Do I remember that you might come up with some things to add on the little loops? Any hints what you have in mind? Congrats on a beautiful coin. Now I hope to see a birka in person someday. Karen

  22. You are going to Minnesota to take care of things before your move next month. I lived in the twin city area for two years, my mom moved us from Texas in January, what a shock for us, we moved a little more towards the south a few years later to Kansas and now have a taste of all the seasons. All the lakes were beautiful but the mosquitos were horrible. Karen Kmmlynch
