  1. I have an "Old Timer" That I got from my dad who got it from his dad
  2. Well I left the little "bug"gers alone and added a log notice about them and hopefully no one will get stung. Also its a relatively easy cache so I upped the difficulty a point just due to the bees. So if you're in my area and want to seek the cache and possibly rile up some yellow-jackets come on down but wear your bee keeps suits Wall-of-vines
  3. Phew, I had been taking them and swapping them for some pseudo-nice pens I bought but then I started to feel a little guilty that I had been removing someones "sig" now I see its common place and I will continue to grow my tiny collection Also I am going to hopefully begin using fused glass for my sig, I just have to wait until my supplies arrive
  4. http://www.bushnell.com/gps/ this unit looks pretty cool but I have no idea
  5. Its sad really, the quantity and quality of the caches here in Washington are great and the urban style caches are few and far between. We have too much beautiful landscape for the urbans I guess. I am fairly new to this (Only 27 finds so far) but the majority of what I find happens to be ammo cans or tupperware containers. So if you want some good caches that are not really rural and are not really urban come to WA, and to be more specific come to the east side (haven't really been to the west looking for caches) because around Spokane there are a ton 99212 if you want to search
  6. My nephews are 3 and 4 and I like to take them on "treasure hunts" to find the caches where they can trade one of their small toys with another and they love it. Now when they are not with me I go and find the Micros and well any other in the area I am in. So in some situations I think the prizes are a neat thing and good for kids and what not (also I like to see signature items because I think they are cool) but I also like to just find caches for the hunt of it!
  7. I have an eTrex Venture Cx that I got off Amazon for like $109, it takes a Micro-SD card so I can add different maps which is pretty nice. Hey Guiness70 the 50 other topics you replied that same response to are AWESOME but I think these questions are looking for answers....? gotta get that post count up eh!
  8. I picked up a Garmin eTrex Venture CX for $110 off amazon and though the basemap is garbage it allows memory cards up to 2gb so I can switch those out on the fly whitch is pretty convienient
  9. 4.2 @ 10 7.3 @ 20 13.4 @ 30 24.9 @ 42 (this is where this list ends for me)
  10. They are Yellow Jackets and believe me I have no issues with any other garden variety bees however yellow jackets are not something I tend to toil with. And for the people telling me I am arrogantly suggesting horrible Earth shattering doom upon all of natures creatures........I was merely asking the question of how I should handle the situation as this is my first cache and I am fairly new at this. I have added a line to the notes on this cache informing others of the bees and that is where I shall leave it. But you can be certain that when the little yellow demons (jackets) infest my house (which they have twice this year) they wont win that battle and my infant son can thank me for not being stung! Now I am not bitter but please people if a forum is to ask questions then answers should be provided, not lifes belittling lessons on how you would NEVER harm anything ever......I am not a Tibetan Monk and when I have a spider crawling up my sleeve or a mosqito sucking my blood......I'ma kill em' In hindsight I am glad I did not rush out and kill the bees because I felt that they were there first and I moved in on their turf, but I wanted to be sure that I was going to handle the cache appropriately. It sound like I made the right choice.
  11. This is exactly why I was asking......and the poster above mentioned that I should put in bold that there are bees I have just done that so we should be OK then?
  12. So I know that the ebb and flow of the geocaching community is to preserve nature however I have decided to hide my first cache and I have been told that there are bee's nests (2 of them) just a few yards away from my cache. SO my question is do I kill them or hope no one gets stung? What are the rules on this?
  13. I have pretty solid case that I can use that should be waterproof and should smash the record close enough to not warp I just have to paint it and make sure I can hide it good
  14. I will probably do it.....and yah the vinyl in the heat is really my only concern, I will have to give it some thought
  15. My dad has a iQue 3200 that he wants to trade for a Venture Cx and I was just curious if I should do it? If not why?
  16. I am pretty new at this but I have seen a few "themed" caches around and I was thinking about making a vinyl record type cache. but I was curious since most people dont have their old vinyl should I make it more a a music cache with CD's and what not? Maybe throw in some band stickers and pins and that kind of stuff What do you guys think?
