  1. All that I can add here is that my MeriMarine bundled with BlueNav was a great deal and has worked flawlessly on foot, on the water, in a plane, and in the car. I get great reception, even in my house and in the parking garage at work. I have contacted Thales tech support several times with questions and received fairly decent answers. I looked at the Garmins. They seem to have comparable features, but I hated the button layout and heard complaints about the rubber seals over the buttons tearing (making them un-waterproof). David
  2. Maybe I'm the weirdo here, but I bought a MeriMarine bundle that qualified for a $75 rebate. Filled out the form and got a check back in 6 weeks.... No Problems whatsoever. You do have to read the instructions carefully on rebates, I go hosed on a $20 software rebate last year because I missed the "Postmarked by" date. David
  3. I am 100% statisfied with the performance and features of my Meridian Marine, $325 for the BlueNav/SD Card bundle from an E-Bay retailer with a $75 rebate. Final cost= $250. I don't know about dense forest cover, but mine works in my house and in the parking garage at work... David
  4. I am wanting to take my GPS on a flight to track our progress. My question is this: If we are not allowed to use electronics until after take-off, will my GPS be able to get a position fix at 300+ MPH? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks, David
  5. I have a Meridian Marine w/ BlueNav. I primarily use it for boating and fishing, and can't believe that I ever set foot in a boat without it. The marine charts are fantastic in my area. I am new to GeoCaching, so I will be interested to see how well I do looking for more precise locations... David
  6. All thanks for the links and input. I still haven't decided whether or not to spring for S&D or Topo. I'll keep reading... David
  7. I am relatively new to GPS and have a few questions. I have a Meridian Marine w/ BlueNav and have been very happy with the units and the Marine charts. I was looking at both Mapsend S&D and Topo on Amazon for use in my car. The consumer reviews on there are pretty negative, with much of the complaints focusing on the accuracy of the maps. As I was reading the WAAS thread, I began to wonder if some of the accuracy issues might be related to the signal rececption that these folks were getting while in cities, woods, cars, etc. Does anyone have experience with these maps? Has anyone benchmarked them? Are the maps as bad as the reviewers on Amazon say, or is it likely that these folks did not have a good position fix? Thanks for your input, David
